An Ordinary man,
An Extraordinary Life
After suff ering serious burns to his
hands that would later require surgery,
Dr Malcolm Linsell set his heart on
becoming a plastic surgeon.
In 1993 he was introduced to
Wesley Koni, a young boy from Papua
New Guinea. Wesley was brought
to Australia for life-saving medical
treatment after suffering horrifi c,
disfi guring burns when he fell into
a fi re. More than two decades later
Malcolm accompanied Wesley and a
60 Minutes team as Wesley returned to
Papua New Guinea to be reunited with
his family for the fi rst time in 22 years.
Malcom Linsell’s book is an open
and often painful exposè of his life and
lessons learnt. It is an inspirational
memoir of a plastic surgeon making
an incredible diff erence.
