Working in all weathers has always been crucial to
my understanding and refining of the experience
of being an artist. Last year a diagnosis of cancer
prevented me from working outside. I decided to
draw on my emotional response to my internal
landscape. Fortunately I am once again able to
look out to the broader horizon.

‘For Those in Peril on the Sea’ (2011) and other
works, which address recurring themes of visual
expressions of power, trophies, globalisation,
