SOLIDFIX FS WEARING COMPOUND
High Performance FAST SET Wearing Compound
DESCRIPTION
Solidfix FS is a fast set high performance technically advanced wearing compound containing
graded hi Alumina ceramic fillers, held uniformly in suspension in a blended high performance
resin system to provide a long lasting lining to plant and equipment subject to a high degree of
abrasive wear. It is ideal for protecting high wearing areas caused by fine slurries. Contains fine
crushed angular Aluminium Oxide for optimum wear and packing density.
Benefits:
Excellent acid and alkali resistance.
Fast set , cuts down time to a minimum, as most repairs are done on site.
Extends life of costly plant and components.
Easy to mix and apply. It conforms and spreads easily into tight corners and curved surfaces.
Can be applied to vertical and overhead surfaces and areas in which compound shapes or difficult
access make the application of other wearing materials impractical.
Water smoothable – Lightly wetting trowel or gloved hand gives a smooth finish. Rapid
Cure- Normally ready to use in 6 hrs hours at 25 deg C- less if heat is applied.
Excellent adhesion to metal and other surfaces under adverse conditions including damp
surfaces.
Good low temperature cure down to 5 Degrees C and excellent corrosion resistance.
Uses:
Any plant and equipment subject to erosion caused by abrasion from process materials. Common
areas of application are feed chutes, spigots, pipe elbows, slurry lines, hoppers, chests, settling
tanks, cyclones pump casings ect.
Substrate requirements:
Surfaces to be clean, dry and free of rust or mill scale. Grit blasting SA2.5 is recommended. If
mechanical grinding is used ensure that prepared surface has a rough profile.
Application:
Using a steel trowel or gloved hand apply compound at 4mm-6mm thickness or as specified.
Wipe smooth with hands, which are slightly wet with soapy water.
Any mixed material will become unusable after 40 minutes.
To accelerate curing time post cure after compound has gardened by heating to about 40 Degrees
C for 30
minutes.
Resistance
Resists dilute acids and alkalis, aliphatic solvents and petroleum products, seawater and distilled
water.
SOLIDBACK HP
High performance backing
DESCRIPTION
Solidback HP - HI-PERFORMANCE BACKING is a 100% Solids reactive resin system
for backing metal wear plates in large gyratory crushers and cone crushers. It offers
excellent impact strength and resilience, together with high compression and tensile
strengths. It is non-flammable, easy to mix and apply and on curing has no shrinkage which
eliminates the gaps between backing and liners or support structures. Ideally suited to
Chrome, Platinum, Manganese and Iron ores to improve liner life.
BENIFITS
Non Hazardous
No molten zinc and peripheral equipment
100% solids co-polymer system.
Saves downtime and money.
Tough and resilient.
Easy and safe to use.
PHYSICAL PROPERTIES (all at 25°)
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Store backing material and concaves between 10°C - 25°C for 24 hours prior to application.
Backing surface of concaves should be free of rust, dirt, grease and oil.
Place the first row of concaves and support them in the usual manner.
Use wood strips around each concave to obtain even spacing.
A light coating of release agent should be applied to all surfaces of the bowl or mantle to
facilitate future removal of worn liners.
N.B DO NOT APPLY RELEASE AGENT ONTO LINERS THEMSELVES
Seal gaps between cancaves to prevent leakage with Solidfix TROWL MIX.
If ambient temperatures are expected to be below 16°C, apply heat with torches between
concaves and the shell to bring the temperature up to the specified level, preferably 32°C,
but not more than 60°C.
Premix resin in large pail for one minute using a low speed drill.
While stirring, add hardener contents from the small bottle at a slow continuous rate.
Move stirrer up and down and around the sides of the pail until the contents are a uniform
colour. Mix for three minutes.
Pour the mixture at several locations around the concave ring.
After the entire row is fully backed, more heat can be applied to the face side of the
concaves to accelerate curing, while the next row of concaves is being installed.
MIXING AND POURING INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONE CRUSHERS
• Premix resin using a low speed power drill (400rpm max) for ± 2 minutes.
• While stirring, it is important to move stirrer up and down and around the sides of the
Pail to disperse resin evenly. Mix for ± 2 minutes. (Exercise mixing speeds cause air
entrapment, resulting in foaming of the product).
• Add hardener and mix for a further 2 minute or until a uniform colour is achieved.
• Pour mixture at several locations to ensure even distribution of Solidback ST Backing
material.
• In high temperature regions, assembly and pouring of crushers should be done indoors
to avoid overheating of components, which could result in uneven cured properties.
Alternatively pours should take place in the early morning.
• Avoid water contamination during mixing and pouring.
