Dear friends,
I cordially welcome all of you – singers
and choral conductors – to the 3 rd Asian
Choir Games 2013 in Manado, North
Sulawesi, Indonesia. The Choir Olympic
idea “Participation is the highest honor”,
on which this event is also based,
is the most successful idea in the international
choral community during the
past three decades. Thousands of choirs
from more than 90 countries have followed
it since the beginning in Linz, Austria
in 2000.
We regard this basis of our work as our
model for human coexistence and partnership.
The fact that our ideal has continued
to grow during the past years is
by this third international event in Indonesia
featuring the Asian Pacific continent.
Asian countries have participated
in large numbers at the various INTER-
KULTUR competitions and festivals
worldwide and their numbers continue
to grow! The successes of Asian and Indonesian
choirs have been outstanding
wherever they have performed in the
many competitions and categories.
The INTERKULTUR ideal of a worldwide
choral community is embraced here in
Indonesia and in Asia in general. Our
motto, “Singing together brings nations
together” will be the spirit within the
event! I would like to take this opportunity
to express my heartfelt gratitude to
our Indonesian partners and the government
of North Sulawesi and Manado
for their tremendous support. In equal
measure, my thanks go to the company
of Royalindo Convention International
from Jakarta and the numerous persons
on location and everywhere in the world
who have worked hard to make this
choral festival possible.
I wish all of you a successful Asia Pacific
Choir Games in Manado!
