Of recent graduates responding to the “EMU<br />

New Graduates Employment Status Survey”<br />

conducted between January 13 and March 4,<br />

2016, were either emplyed in some capacity<br />

or not seeking employment (e.g., full-time<br />

caregiver, full-time graduate student). The<br />

survey measures Eastern Michigan University<br />

students who graduated in the year 2015.<br />

EMU celebrated its first graduation class<br />

<strong>of</strong> physicion assistants April 23. The<br />

program prepares graduates to be certified<br />

and llicensed to practice medicine using<br />

autonomous decision making under the<br />

supervision <strong>of</strong> a physician. There is a high<br />

demand for physician assistants, as they help<br />

fill the gap in a projected shortage <strong>of</strong> primary<br />

care physicians, and can practice in virtually<br />

any medical specialty.<br />
