same country of origin, a completely different
style and physicality. The final will keep
everybody short of breath ... Airton begins
quietly in the final too: he didn't land a few
manoeuvres and even hit the water out of
frustration and Matchu takes advantage of
the situation, collecting point after point.
As we already said they are very different,
Matchu is more aerial based whereas Airton
is more powerful. Matchu makes a nice
double frontroll and a double backroll with
a grab. Both of them land unbelievable crazy
horse kiteloops making the audiences
go crazy too. By the end the manoeuvres
considered are very similar, it's a game on
the razor's edge. The most beautiful manoeuvres
are the double front by Matchu
and the front and backside passes by Airton,
the difference comes with an immense
shoveit frontroll by Airton who after getting
it wrong for three times, lands this impressive
manoeuvre, for sure one of the best
seen throughout the competition. The judges'
scorings show a result with a 0.5 difference
between the riders, amazing! Airton is
the King of Tarifa for the second time, a victory
conquered through the battle againt is
"brother" Matchu, manoeuvre after manoeuvre,
a battle even more beautiful thanks to
the strong friendship and sportsmanship
that bind these two great riders.
The final day of the event is the big air
and best trick contest with Woo devices
attached to the boards. Strong and gusty
Levant and as usual this wind allows huge
kiteloops, some monstrous wipeouts, and
Julien Kerneur pays the price for it and
leaves the contest on a stretcher following
