transmission lubricant engineered for the latest, European<br />
heavy duty manual transmissions used on highway commercial<br />
vehicles and cars. This transmission lubricant is designed<br />
using select base oils and an advanced additive package that<br />
enhances shifting performance, low temperature fluidity and<br />
high temperature viscosity retention. <strong>Mobil</strong>ube XHP 75W-80 is<br />
formulated with extended performance reserve for applications<br />
requiring API GL-3/4 service.<br />

SAE heißt Society of Automotive Engineers, eine Vereinigung, die in USA SAE-Klassen<br />
festlegt. Diese sind inzwischen in den meisten Ländern der Welt für die Einstufung von<br />
Motorenölen und Kraftfahrzeug-Getriebeölen eingeführt. Es entspricht dem Sinn dieser<br />
Klassifikation, daß sie nur eine Stufung der Viskosität vornimmt. Irgendwelche Angaben<br />
über die Qualität der Öle, ihre Einsatzgebiete und ihre Zusätze kann und will die Einteilung<br />
nicht geben.<br />
In Deutschland sind die SAE-Viskositätsklassen nach DIN 51511 (Motorenöle) und DIN<br />
51512 (Getriebeöle) festgelegt.<br />

Technische Erläuterungen/Messmethoden<br />
Flammpunkt<br />
Der Flammpunkt ist die niedrigste Temperatur, bei der sich so viele<br />
Dämpfe bilden, dass ein durch Fremdentzündung entflammbares<br />
Luft-Öldampf-Gemisch erstmalig aufflammt, aber nicht weiterbrennt.<br />
Es wird jeweils nach einer der drei folgenden Methoden gemessen:<br />
■ Cleveland COC DIN ISO-2592 im offenen Tiegel<br />
Einsatzbereich: über 79 °C<br />
■ Pensky-Martens DIN 51758 im geschlossenen Tiegel<br />
Einsatzbereich: 35 bis 200 °C<br />
■ Abel-Pensky DIN 51755 im geschlossenen Tiegel<br />
Einsatzbereich: 5 bis 65 °C<br />
Er hat für die Schmierung untergeordnete Bedeutung, dient aber<br />
zur Festlegung der für die Schmierstofflagerung und -transport<br />
wichtigen Gefahrklassen.<br />

NLGI<br />
Das „National Lubrication Grease Institut“ hat eine Konsistenzeinteilung<br />
für Schmierfette vorgenommen, die als DIN 51818<br />
übernommen wurde (siehe Tabelle links).<br />
Pourpoint<br />
Der Pourpoint ist die niedrigste Temperatur, bei der der<br />
Schmierstoff eben noch fließt, wenn unter Testbedingungen<br />
abgekühlt wird (DIN ISO 3016). Der Stockpunkt liegt ca. 3 °C<br />
tiefer als der Pourpoint.<br />
TBN<br />
Die „Total Base Number“, auch Gesamtbasenzahl, gemessen<br />
nach DIN ISO 3771, ist die Menge Perchlorsäure, angegeben<br />
in äquivalenter Anzahl Milligramm Kaliumhydroxid, die erforderlich<br />
ist, alle basischen Bestandteile, die in einem Gramm Probe<br />
enthalten sind, zu neutralisieren.<br />
Basisch wirkende Schmierstoffe werden eingesetzt, um Säuren,<br />
die im Betrieb entstehen, zu neutralisieren.<br />
Dichte<br />
Die Dichte eines Mineralöls oder eines verwandten Stoffes ist<br />
der Quotient aus seiner Masse m und seinem Volumen V, bei<br />
der Temperatur t, gemessen nach DIN 51757.<br />

v<br />
Walkpenetration<br />
Die Walkpenetration kennzeichnet die Konsistenz eines Fettes.<br />
Das Fett wird bei 25 °C mit 60 Doppelhüben durchgewalkt.<br />
Dann wird die Eindringtiefe eines definierten Konus in 1/10 mm<br />
gemessen nach DIN ISO 2137.<br />
Die Eindringtiefen sind in NLGI-Klassen zusammengefaßt.<br />
DIN<br />
Deutsches Institut für Normung, Herausgeber aller DIN-Blätter.<br />
Für Schmierstoffe unterscheiden wir zwischen Bezeichnungsund<br />
Anforderungsnormen.<br />
DIN 51502 beschreibt nur die Schmierstoffkennzeichnung, nicht<br />
aber die Qualität.<br />
Anforderungsnormen beschreiben verbindlich die Mindest-Qualitätseigenschaften.<br />
Anforderungsnormen sind z. B.:<br />
■ DIN 51524 für Hydrauliköle,<br />
■ DIN 51517 für Industrie-Getriebeöle,<br />
■ DIN 51506 für Luftverdichteröle.<br />
Allgemeines<br />
Die Viskosität als Maß der inneren Reibung einer Flüssigkeit<br />
wurde von Newton 1687 für die „absolute“ oder dynamische<br />
Viskosität als Zusammenhang zwischen Schubspannung und<br />
Schergefälle definiert.<br />
Für Schmieröle, als Newton’sche Flüssigkeiten, läßt sich gemäß<br />
DIN 53015 die dynamische Viskosität h mit dem Höppler-Kugelfallviskosimeter<br />
messen.<br />

Mit der Ubbelohde-Kapillare misst man gemäß DIN 51562 die<br />

ISO VG<br />
Die ISO VG bezeichnet einen gerundeten Zahlenwert einer Reihe<br />
von systematisch abgestuften Zahlenwerten gem. DIN 51519 der<br />
kinematischen Viskosität flüssiger Industrie-Schmierstoffe.<br />
Der gerundete Zahlenwert z. B. ISO VG 7 ist aus dem<br />
Zahlenwert 6,8 mm 2 /s, dem Wert der Mittelpunktsviskosität bei<br />
40 °C abgeleitet. Der einzelne Mittelpunktsviskositätswert ist<br />
ca. 50 % größer/kleiner als sein vorhergehender/nachstehender<br />
Zahlenwert. Die zulässigen Grenzen einer ISO VG sind +/– 10 %<br />
des Mittelpunktsviskositätswertes.<br />
Sie dient u. a. zur Ermittlung der Mineralölmasse und der Pumpenleistung,<br />
hat aber für die Schmierung geringe Bedeutung.<br />
Tropfpunkt<br />
Der Tropfpunkt ist die Temperatur, bei der ein Schmierfett im<br />
Verlauf der Bestimmung unter den genormten Prüfbedingungen<br />
ein bestimmtes Fließvermögen erfährt, geprüft nach DIN ISO 2176.<br />
Der Tropfpunkt hat nur begrenzte Aussagekraft hinsichtlich<br />
Praxisverhalten eines Fettes. Die zulässige Einsatztemperatur<br />
liegt deutlich darunter.<br />
