Munich - first and foremost known for a great number of quaint historic buildings - spreads the glamour of the 19th century<br />
and embraces visitors with the appeal of the formerly royal Munich Residence, the Hofgarten (court garden), a picturesque<br />
city hall and the Opera House with its golden mosaic ornaments. The luxurious flair of the city has set the standards for<br />
the citizens' lifestyle. A relaxing laissez-faire attitude instead of a hectic pace, a broad scene and a hip urban life - Munich<br />
definitely puts an emphasis on elegance, splendour and italian lightness.<br />

Cosmopolitans at home in Paris, London or New York claim<br />
Munich to be a village. This may be right in a way that in the<br />
Bavarian capital places of different interest are in close vicinity<br />
to each other: The shopping miles can be found next to<br />
the arts quarter, the Munich Residence is neighbouring the<br />
stores of the luxury brands. The best restaurants in town are<br />
beaded in a small area and on Viktualienmarkt, the daily food<br />
market, Bavarian dialect is spoken in a place where goods<br />
from all over the world are on offer. Modern shopping centres<br />
are flanking historical quarters and the old-established,<br />
traditional craft businesses still have maintained their standing<br />
amongst the international labels of the luxury industry.<br />
The elegance of this metropolis is reflected in any shop<br />
window, "Suppliers to the Royal Court" are proud to display<br />
this special honour in their company crests and the best<br />
designers in the world are striving for the limited and<br />
exposed locations.<br />
"Noblesse oblige", that is how Munich maintains the image<br />
as a fine stronghold, an island in the midst of a clamorous<br />
and challenging world stage, offering a high degree of<br />
security, well-tended green spaces and an alpine environment<br />
that symbolizes the epitome of natural beauty. Munich<br />
cannot be compared to a lot of cities - and there is no need<br />
to be compared - Munich is "M-unique".<br />
