CHRIS KILIAN ’92 CAROLINA-BOUND
Congratulations to Assistant Principal Chris Kilian ’92
upon his appointment as Assistant Principal in a 2,100
The move allows Chris and his wife, Suzie, to be closer to family in the Carolinas. Their parents
are looking forward to being near Chris and Suzie (a former math instructor at Pope), as well as
their grandchildren—Katie, Kelly and Christopher.
We appreciate the many ways in which Mr. Kilian has contributed to the overall academic
GRADUATION WEEKEND A HUGE SUCCESS
Heavy rains did not dampen anyone’s
spirits as the Class of 2012 celebrated
graduation weekend. The festivities began
with the Very Reverend Canon Thomas
Skindeleski, VF, presiding over the
Baccalaureate Mass at St. Vincent Ferrer
Church Friday evening.
Prior to the final blessing, the graduating
seniors participated in the Service of Light
(photo on left) prayer led by Sister Eileen
Sullivan, OP and Dr. Michael Coury.
Immediately following Mass, the graduating seniors and their families were the guests of honor
at a reception hosted by Junior Class parents.
On Saturday, the venue changed to Florida
Atlantic University for the 30 th Commencement
Exercises for Pope John Paul II High School. The
102 members of the Class of 2012 achieved many
honors. They were rewarded with acceptances
from 100 colleges and universities, both near and
far.
Valedictorian David Builes (left in photo) and
Salutatorians Gerald (Clay) Williston (center)
and Nicolas Ruiz (right) each delivered eloquent commencement addresses.
In his congratulatory remarks, President Michael Coury noted that the graduates were offered
over 200 scholarships with a total value of $6,625,450. This is a per graduate average of
$65,000—more than double the $32,000 per graduate average in 2010, as well as significantly
larger than the 2011 per graduate average of $51,000.
Additionally, each honoree received a $2,500 scholarship from the Frank and Vera Ferola
PRINTER’S PROOF FOR ANNUAL FUND
As we enter the final month of our fiscal year, we are looking ahead to the preparation of our
Annual Report magazine. The report will include the recognition of donors to the school during
the fiscal year that runs from July 1 to June 30.
Our major fundraising effort each year is the Annual Fund. Monies collected through the Annual
Fund benefit every student, every day at Pope, as they allow us to bridge the gap between
tuition revenue and the higher cost of educating each child.
Our records from July 1, 2011 through May 21, 2012 indicate that the donors listed below have
made a gift to this year’s Annual Fund. We ask that you check this printer’s proof to verify the
correct spelling of your names. In the event that we may have overlooked anyone, we regret our
error and ask that you reply to this Eblast so that we may update our records before publishing
the Annual Report.
