Our daughter had the opportunity to
take part in something significant in
Washington D.C. last week.
Sheldon-based RISE Ministries and Life-
Light out of Sioux Falls took charter busses
filled with teens and
chaperones for the
1,200-mile journey to
attend an event called
“Together 2016.” Rise
Ministries founder
Rob Roozeboom
spoke about the gathering
last month during
RiseFest, the Christian
music festival
held on Father’s Day
weekend in Sheldon,
using the word “reset”

often as he talked and thus planting that
word in my head.
“Together 2016” had a goal of bringing
one million people together on the National
Mall to change history, sharing through
speakers and musicians the message that Jesus
offers a “reset.” I listened in to parts of it
via live stream on the Internet last Saturday
and quickly understood why our daughter
was so excited.
While there weren’t a million people
there that day, speakers like Francis Chan,
Ravi Zacharias and Nick Hall told the
350,000 kids in attendance that they
couldn’t just sit back and wait for someone
else to do something, they had to be bold in
their faith and their convictions. They had
to help this country reset its barometer to
Jesus in order to make the kinds of changes
we need.
With the unusual 2016 presidential race,
terrorist attacks around the world and
violence against police officers right here in
our own country, I couldn’t agree more.
