History
The earliest recorded inhabitants of the
region are the Thesprotians,
a Greek tribe of Epirus. In antiquity, the
location was called Sivota and was the
site of the Battle of Sivota.
During the Middle Ages, Sivota, like the
rest of Epirus, was part of the Byzantine
Empire and the Despotate of Epirus.
Under the Turks, it was called Mourtos.
After nearly 500 years of Ottoman rule,
Sivota joined Greece in 1913, following
the Balkan Wars. The coastal village of
Sivota (Albanian: Murto or Vola) was
home to Cham Albanians before 1944,
when they were expelled for
collaborating with the Axis Powers.
Today, Sivota town is a well-developed
resort, owing largely to the numerous
pristine beaches with clear waters
located on several islets immediately
offshore.

Location
Sivota is a coastal settlement in
the southern part ofThesprotia's
prefecture. It is one of the main
resorts of Epirus and for this
reason, every summer brings
together a large number of Greek
and foreign tourists.
The village is built in a small bay
where there are plenty of islands.
Thus, a beautiful landscape is
created, combining the green of
nature and the turquoise of the
sea. The main islands are Saint
Nicholas and Mavro Oros.
The excellent beaches of Sivota,
which stand out for their rare and
unique natural beauty, are within
walking distance from the village.

Beaches
Mega and Mikri Ammos
Mega beach is the largest beach of
the region - just outside the
village, towards to Perdika - and it
has been awarded with the Blue
Flag from the European Union.
It is organized and its green
waters are usually cool. The beach
has pebbles and is surrounded by
shops so that guests can enjoy a
meal and a coffee.
Next to Mega Ammos is Mikri
Ammos with the same features but
cooler waters.

Beaches
Bella Vraka
Many people have described this beach
as a magnificent beach and one of those
you should definitely visit. It is located
on the Mourtemeno island but this is not
considered as a problem as one can cross
the sea on foot.
The water reaches up to the knee while
in summer the water level is slightly
below. It must be noted that you will not
find something edible there, so you will
have to take the necessary food before
you go.
Karvouno
Located near to Bella Vraka beach,
infront of a luxury hotel. Peaceful beach
with clean water and plenty of facilities.

Zavia
Zavia is located outside the village
towards to Perdika. It is an
organized beach with a bar and the
water is cool.
Gallikos
The beach is near the village of
Sivota, the water is very warm and
the sand stretches along. Near to
the beach, there is a snack-bar,
giving the opportunity to bathers
to enjoy a coffee and a snack.

Beaches
Zeri
It has the same features as Gallikos
beach as it is just next to it. The
difference is that Zeri has water slides
for all ages.
DEI
As we leave the village, we meet DEI
beach. The water is warm, the beach is
pebbly, and is possessed of incredible
serenity.
There you can enjoy the stunning views
to Agios Nikolaos.

Mega Ntrafi
Small and quiet rocky beach. Clean
cool waters. Most of the time with
few people since hardly reached by
car.
Agia Paraskevi
Among the most beautiful beaches
of the Region. Fully organized even
with sea sports. A small island in
the middle of the coast line,
reachable by swimming, makes the
experience even more attractive.
Don’t forget to taste traditional
Greek recipes at the local stores.

Karavostasi
You ll need 20 min drive to reach this
amazing beach at Perdika Region, but its
worth driving. Sandy, long enough not to
get crowded. Well organized with access
to coffee, snacks or food. Don’t miss the
tavern at the end of the coast.
Pisina
Unforgettable colors, no other
comments. Approachable only by sea.
Hint: Rent a sea boat.
