BİRBİRİNE DEĞEN HAYATLAR Umut BELEK ERŞEN * Ben bir kadının yaşam öyküsünden bahsedeceğim. Fatmagül Berktay’a göre yaşamöyküsünün çekiciliği, okuma yoluyla paylaşılan deneyimin kendi yaşamlarımızda sürdürülmesinde yatar; çünkü başka birinin yaşamına ilişkin metin, bizi kendi yaşamlarımızın metnine geri gönderir. Özyaşamöyküleri aracılığıyla, hem yazarlar hem de okurlar, yaşamı “bilme ”ye başlarlar. Bu mutlaka entelektüel ya da bilimsel bir bilgi olmak zorunda değildir, ama en az onun kadar gerçek ve değerli olan sezgisel bir bilgidir. 1 Berktay’ın bahsettiği “başkalarının metinlerinin bizi kendi yaşamlarımızın metnine geri göndermesi” kimi zaman tersine bir süreç olarak işler. Kendi öykümüzü oluşturmaya çalışırken başka öykülere ihtiyaç duyarız, yalnız olmadığımızı hatırlatan, başka yollar olabileceğini gösteren, kendimizi oluştururken dokunabileceğimiz öykülere… Ben, kendi öykümü kurmaya çalışırken Janis Joplin’in yaşamına dokundum ve kimi zaman ona tutundum. Bu makalede kadın olmanın, kadınlık‐benlik bilincini oluşturmanın çok da kolay olmayan engellerini aşmaya çalışırken onun yaşamının başka bir kadına nasıl yardım ettiğini ortaya koymaya, bu şekilde kadın öykülerinin aslında geleneksel normatif tarih anlayışından öte yapısının, eril hegemonyanın koyduğu normları aşmaktaki işlevini tanımlamaya çalışacağım. Bunu yapmaya çalışırken “ben” diyeceğim hep. Objektif olmaya, dışarıdan bakmaya çalışmayacağım, tersine tam içinden, kendi kişisel tarihimden deneyimlerimi aktarırken başka birisinin yaşam öyküsünü anlatacağım ya da tam tersi başka birisinin yaşam öyküsü çerçevesinde kendi deneyimlerimi ortaya koymaya çalışacağım. Bunun için Joan Scott’un tarih anlayışından yola çıkacağım. Scott geleneksel tarihin kanıt anlayışı bağlamında normatif tarihe meydan okumayı, resmin büyütülmesi, kusurlu veya eksik bakıştan kaynaklanan hataların düzeltilmesi olarak tanımlamıştır. Bu meydan okuma, meşruiyet talebini deneyimin otoritesine dayandırmıştır; yani ötekilerin doğrudan deneyiminin otoritesine olduğu kadar metinlerinde ötekilerin hayatlarını görmeyi ve bu hayatlara ışık tutmayı öğrenen tarihçinin deneyiminin otoritesine de. 2 Kadınların hayatlarını ele alırken deneyimi görünür kılmak baskıcı mekanizmaların varlığını açığa çıkarır, fakat bunların iç işleyişini veya mantığını açığa çıkarmaz; tahakkümü de görünür kılabilmek, bunu yaratan baskıcı mekanizmaların işleyişlerinin de ortaya konulması gerekir.
