New England Adult Music Camp will enjoy its
fourth year this summer from August 22nd to August
28th. NEAMC welcomes adult musicians of all levels
from across the country to enjoy a week of traditional
music camp. Program Director Diane Muffitt, along with
NEMC staff member Cheryl Campbell, have now given
adults the opportunity to spend a week at NEMC. The
only difference is, at NEAMC, they get happy hour! I
cannot tell you how many times I go on recruiting trips
for NEMC and a teacher or parent says, “I want to go to
NEMC!” Well, NOW YOU CAN!
When I came back to work at Snow Pond four years
ago to assist my parents in the expansion of all of our
programs, I kept saying, “Why don’t we do special events?
Why don’t we have a concert series? We have the second
largest amphitheater in the United States….why don’t
we get some special performers every summer to come
and do concerts there.” The response was, “Okay….do it.”
Here we now are in our third summer of presenting our
Summer Music Series, and we are thrilled to bring some
incredible performances to Snow Pond. From the new
Snow Pond Symphony with musicians and faculty drawn
from all of Snow Pond’s different programs, December 63’:
The Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons Tribute, the above
mentioned POPS Concert and Little Women, Jazz Under
the Stars with the Al Corey Band, or The Ballroom Thieves
with the Maine Youth Rock Orchestra, there is something
for everyone this summer.
As I sit down to think about everything that is
happening this summer, I cannot imagine what Paul
would be thinking or what he would say if he could see
what his vision has grown to. May we all continue to
pursue his mission of spreading music and the arts to
people of all ages. Here’s to our 80th summer, and here’s
to many, many, many, more to come! Peace.
