intimate wedding with our closest 

family and friends. We feel extremely 

honored and blessed that you have 

traveled this far to share in the joy of 

our wedding. 

Marriage is a turning point in our lives 

together as we commit ourselves to 

one another. As we begin our journey 

as husband and wife, we want to thank 

you deeply for all you have done for 

us throughout our lives. You are our 

teachers, partners in crime, guides, 

and our favorite people in the entire 

world. Many years from now when we 

reflect upon our life, love and this time, 

we will remember that it was not the 

location, the venues, the dress, the

and friends, you are encouraged to take a brief moment to hold the rings,

will shsare. At the conclusion of this ritual, these rings will contain in their 

precious metals that which is even more precious – Your love and support 

for NaTasha and Ivan’s union.

Their Love Story 

THE INTERVIEW 

In anticipation of their Las Vegas wedding festivities, we 

made a trip to Tallahassee, FL to visit the soon to be Mr. 

and Mrs. Fortunate for us, the couple took a break from 

the wedding planning process to give us a glimpse at 

their never before told love story. We spent the evening 

getting up close and personal for this intimate - laughter 

filled - exclusive interview. 


- THE INTERVIEW - 

How did the June 1, 2015 proposal 

happen? 

Tasha With my need to know 

everything personality, I must say he 

did a great job of surprising me with 

the actual moment. We’d talked and 

discussed marriage and I knew it was 

coming. He would always say tell me 

your idea of a perfect date. I even told 

him the particulars of what I would like. 

I wanted our moment to be intimate 

with the two of us only. To satisfy my 

thirst for knowledge, he’d even told me 

where we would be when he popped 

the question...or so I thought. We were 

in Ft. Lauderdale having a mini-vacay 

before headed to our annual Key West 

“...tears welled up in my eyes and 

I was overjoyed with so much 

emotion. It was the perfect 

moment. WELL DONE, SL” 

vacation. I didn’t think anything of it, but 

on the ride from the airport to South 

Beach, he mentioned his stomach was 

aching. Before leaving for the trip he told 

me that he’d picked a place for us to go 

the first night, “so be cute”. This wasn’t 

a red flag either because he would do 

that often. When we pulled up, I said oh, 

we having dinner somewhere on Las 

Olas, cool. We parked and walked for a 

bit and got to an opening and just stood 

there talking. All of a sudden, Gondolier 

Mike rode up. I had a huge smile on 

my face and said “I forgot I told you I 

wanted to take a gondola ride” He just 

smiled. We took a few silly pictures as 

we always did as we rode down the Las 

Olas river, then we stopped. I assumed 

it was to just take in the moment. I’d 

been singing along to every song that 

played and when Bruno Mars came on 

it was no different. Then Ivan says “go 

over there” Me “why” Him “Just go so I 

can take your picture” So I get up and 

walk to the other side and when I turned 

around he was getting that knee dirty. 

I honesty have no clue what he said, 

that was one of the few moments I can 

truly say I was surprised. Afterwards, 

we started moving again, and I said 

I have to call ma when we get back. 

Then he pulled out his ipad and played 

a video presentation. Who was the 

first on the video, Mi Mother, then my 

sisters, cousins, aunts, brothers, uncles, 

nieces, nephews, and close friends and 

it closed with THERIA!...tears welled up 

in my eyes and I was overcome with 

so much emotion. It was the perfect 

moment. I knew I wanted our moment 

to be ours but also knew the special 

bond I have with my family and found 

a way to include them in the moment. It 

was a moment I will always remember. 

WELL DONE, SL! 

Ivan She was awaiting a proposal in 

Key West, but the gondola ride was 

perfect. We were on the water in an 

intimate setting. We had a drink and 

took in the beautiful scenery. About 

halfway through the ride “Marry You “ 

by Bruno Mars was on and I asked her 

to stand on the other side for a picture 

and when she turned around I was one 

knee. After she accepted I showed her 

a slideshow of her family members 

and friends congratulating us on the 

engagement. I was able to include her 

family and still give her the intimate 

moment she’d wanted. 



We understand you are high school 

classmates, how did the two of you 

reconnect? 

Ivan Initially on twitter, but it was a 

class reunion meeting that I saw her for 

the first time since graduation. 

Tasha It seems it was always centered 

around our class reunions (that neither 

of us attended, how ironic). Years prior, 

I’d seen Ivan briefly at a breakfast class 

reunion meeting we’d had for our 10th 

year reunion. We didn’t interact with 

the meeting ended. In true Porsche 

fashion, she showed up to get me about 

20 minutes before the meeting was 

over, so I decided to go. Upon making 

our fashionably late entrance, the first 

person that caught my attention was 

Ivan. I remember saying to myself, 

Ok, Ivan! We chatted briefly after the 

meeting before Porsche and I left. It 

would be a few months later before we 

actually starting have non-sports and 

reunion conversations. Yes, I used the 

each other during that time other than 

the standard, “hello, it was good seeing 

you”. In 2009 we “followed” each other 

on twitter (I remember all his tweets 

were about sports, my o my, how that 

changed) and would exchange tweets 

mostly about the 2009 NBA Playoffs 

and NFL. Fast-forward to 15th year 

reunion planning time. I was in Natchez 

for my routine Labor Day visit and 

Porsche insisted I go to the reunion 

meeting with her. I kept saying no, let’s 

go somewhere else or pick me up after 

reunion as a door-opener for texting 

him, knowing good and well I couldn’t 

have cared less about the reunion, don’t 

judge me...it was called strategy. 

What attracted you to Him/Her? 

Ivan The positive energy and outlook 

that she projects on a daily basis. She is 

my glass half full. 

Tasha ther than that trademark smile 

and dimple, it was his devotion and 

passion he showed for his sons, IKE 

and Dy-lan. 



Where did you go for your first date? 

Ivan Jay-Z concert in New Orleans 

Tasha First date that would be February 

25, 2010, New Orleans for the Jay-Z, 

Trey Songz & Young Jeezy Concert. 

What part of your future are you most 

excited about? 

Ivan I’m excited to have my Honey Bun 

(Theria) in my life, I want to be the one 

she runs to whether it’s good or bad. Her 

shoulder to cry on, her voice of reason, 

and her model for what she wants in her 

life. I couldn’t ask for a better young lady 

to be my daughter. Not to mention the 

strong family bond and presence during 

major milestones, events and holidays. 

I’m looking forward to continuing the 

tradition our kids can carry on. 

Tasha I’m really looking forward to 

having a partner, a rock. I’ve really been 

looking forward to living under the 

same roof. I can’t wait to start and end 

my days with by homie, lover and friend. 

What do you like most about Tasha? 

Her passion in whatever she commits 

to and undertakes. 

What do you like most about Ivan? 

I like his fire and drive. Unknowingly, he 

inspires me to be and do more. 

Favorite place to dine together? 

Ivan Anywhere on South Miami Beach 

Tasha I don’t have a favorite place 

to dine. Any dinner date with Ivan is 

special. If I had to pick, I would say 

any new place we randomly pick while 

travelling. 

What’s the one thing you enjoy doing 

as a couple? 

Ivan Traveling

What is Tasha’s best quality? 

Her attention to detail and love of 

planning trips, events and family 

functions. 

What is Ivan’s best quality? 

His laid back, easy going demeanor and 

ability to calm me during “storms” 

What was the biggest thing you had to 

compromise on? 

Ivan Sports 

Tasha Saturdays during the Fall. Lord 

knows I love football, but non-stop 

college football from sun up to sun 

down!?!?!, It’s like he’s sucked into a 

black hole and can’t find his way out 

until the final down is played. Ya’ll pray 

for me. Thank God for multiple TVs and 

PIP. 

When did you know he/she was the one? 

Ivan When she told me she was. Just 

Kidding, When I would be mad at her 

and it would bother me until we figured 

it out. 

Tasha When randomly on the phone 

one day after a difference of opinions, 

Ivan said “Let’s pray”. It was then I knew 

my “source” and his “source” were the 

same.

The Entourage Wedding 

When we decided to have a wedding, we knew we wanted to forgo the traditional wedding party 

route. No BRIDESMAIDS. No GROOMSMEN. After much consideration, we decided on having an 

Entourage Wedding. We had no idea what it would look like, as it was an idea developed in my 

mind. I knew we wanted to honor our closest friends but without all of the stress and headaches 

that comes with a bridal party and at the same time include all of our guests. It was then that the 

concept was born. The Entourage is made up of our dearest friends who have played vital roles 

in different phases our lives. True to the name, it’s rare to see us out without being surrounded by 

members of this distinct group. Our Wedding Party is comprised of all of our friends and loved 

ones who made the cross-country journey to share in our big day. We love each of you and want 

you to know you are special to us.

Tasha, Ivan, and I are high school 

classmates and friends. I met 

Ivan in middle school and Tasha 

in high school after she relocated 

to Natchez. Tasha and I were 

managers for the girls’ basketball 

team (I had nothing to do with 

that shower water, you will have 

to ask Tasha about that). Over the 

years, Tasha and I have formed a 

sisterly bond. I have many fond 

memories of Tasha, and all of 

them involve getting all the girls 

together and just having fun. 

Before the wedding, I would like to 

say “Tasha and Ivan, Life is short. 

Enjoy it with each other every day. 

Never go to sleep with anger, and 

always respect one another.” 

I am Tasha’s cousin and Ivan’s 

friend and fraternity brother. Ivan 

and I are brothers from different 

mothers. One of my fondest 

memories of Ivan would be the 

trip to the Alcorn-Southern game 

in Baton Rouge where we took 

over some random guys’ hotel 

room and was lounging in their 

room drinking their beer. When 

they came back, I confidently told 

them the room was ours. Without 

incident, they left and went to the 

front desk, and we made a swift 

exit. Other notable memories 

would include coaching with Ivan, 

watching his sons grow up, and 

being part of THE OMEGA PSI PHI 

FRATERNITY. As a member of 

The Entourage, my role is to make 

sure Ivan don’t back out!! Before 

my Brother jumps the broom, 

I would like to say, “I wish you 

guys nothing but blessings and 

happiness in your union. May God 

bless you guys with many, many 

happy years together.” 

Tasha and I were coworkers at 

the movie theatre we believed 

we owned. I was blessed to be 

accepted into her family and be 

a part of her village for Theria. 

What started out as a friendship, 

blossomed into a beautiful 

sisterhood. We have the Scorpio/ 

Taurus, connection and truly 

understand each other. Whenever 

she goes off the grid for a long 

period of time (which to her may 

seem like brief moment), I know 

it isn’t anything personal, but I 

will send her messages to let 

her know “HEY, this has gone on 

long enough, Call ME”. Special 

memories include: cabbage and 

cornbread Sunday dinners and 

our infamous road trips. Tasha is 

definitely my “Ride or Die”, except 

with us there is only living, loving 

and laughing! 

Tasha and Ivan, Allow God to 

order your steps. Continue to 

grow in love. Understand that 

there is no perfect marriage, and 

always look to make each day a 

better day.

Ivan, Tasha and I are high school 

classmates. Tasha is my Ft. Knox 

cousin. I can call her at any time 

and always trust her with my 

secrets, Simply put, if I had to 

commit a crime, I would take her 

along because I know she will not 

say a word. Ivan has always been 

a stand up kind of guy. I have so 

many fond memories with Tasha, 

but the one that stands out the 

most was when she gave birth to 

her love, Theria. I will spare you 

the story about the time I tried to 

fix Tasha up and the guy turned 

out to be one of her brothers. 

Before the wedding, I would like to 

say “Keep God first in all that you 

do. Allow Him to be the Captain of 

your ship. During your marriage, 

you will experience some rough 

waters, and other times things 

will be smooth sailing. Keep God’s 

Grace and Mercy at the center of 

your hearts, and always have a 

forgiving heart so you can be 

victorious. 

I am Tasha’s younger brother, 

representing #7 on #TeamHawk. 

Tasha is indeed one of the best 

things to ever happen to me; one 

of the best sisters in the world. 

We might not talk to each other a 

lot but she is always there when 

I need her the most without 

question or hesitation. There has 

been many times that I was about 

to go to war with somebody and 

she would be the voice of reason. 

She didn’t always agree with me 

but she help me to understand 

how to look at things from another 

person point of view. “Tasha and 

Ivan, never give up on each no 

matter how hard it gets. What 

happens in your house is your 

business. You all have worked too 

hard on this for it to fail. Quitting 

is for losers, and you both are 

winners in my book. Much love 

and blessings.”

Coolest, Ultra Awesome Brother 

that is the Life of every party! I was 

asked to describe my relationship 

with my sister and I simply stated 

“how do you describe perfection?” 

Tasha has been the best sister a 

brother can have. Once I was in a 

tight situation and gave her a call 

and she didn’t hesitate to assist 

me. We always joke and laugh 

every time we talk. She gives me 

sound advice when needed and 

is never judgmental. She is pure 

perfection and that is why I am so 

happy for her! Before the wedding, 

I want to wish the both of you 

many years of a happy marriage!

Ivan and I were introduced by 

a mutual friend, Cedric Poole. 

Soon thereafter, we became as 

close as brothers. Both athletic 

and competitive, we played 

basketball, football and softball 

together, and he was the only 

person that matched my intensity 

on the basketball court. We played 

hardcore softball and the name of 

our team was “TRUE.” Ivan and I 

were two of the main players for 

TRUE, and we took softball very 

seriously. We traveled all over 

playing softball, and our bond 

as brothers only grew stronger. 

Many miles have separated us 

but one thing is for certain, I 

will always have his back. Ivan

Tasha and I are cousins by blood 

but sisters by heart. Tasha would 

always visit on the weekends and 

stay with my parents during the 

summers. During her junior year, 

she moved to Natchez and lived 

with us. I always wanted to do 

the things that she did. I followed 

her around and tried to mirror her 

ways, which somehow resulted in 

her getting in trouble. I even moved 

to Tallahassee to attend her alma 

mater, Florida A&M University. 

Tasha has been very present in 

my life by offering advice, words 

of wisdom, or a helping hand. 

Since I’ve known Ivan, he has 

done the same. I look forward to 

gaining another brother. When 

together we always have a great 

time and I look forward to our 

annual summer vacations. Tasha 

and Ivan, I couldn’t be happier 

for you two as you embark on 

this next chapter together. I love, 

respect, and admire you both. I 

am elated to stand with you on 

your wedding day and celebrate

panic defense mode and made

I’m Tasha’s little God Sister. We 

met at Piney Woods County 

Life School where our parents 

worked together. Tasha was 

my babysitter. Tasha and I 

have a sisterly bond that has 

remained strong throughout 

time and distance. We often go 

long periods of time without 

communicating, but we connect 

immediately once we come in 

contact with each other as if no 

time has passed. Tasha knows 

my family and me, and she can 

rationalize my craziness. I fondly 

remember all of the times that 

Tasha babysat me and allowed 

me to the little sister that tagged 

along with her and her friends. I 

enjoyed listening to her practice 

playing her saxophone and 

wearing her band uniform. Tasha 

and Ms. Theresa spoiled me and 

provided me with a comfortable 

second home. Tasha and Ivan, I 

wish you both much happiness

Ivan and I met in 2009 through 

Dwayne Taylor at a Krewe of Mer 

social. I consider Ivan as my big 

brother. We have spent a lot of 

time together over the years, 

and I’m blessed to have met 

him. I later met Tasha in 2010 

at a conversation. We had so 

much fun laughing and talking 

at that night. When we were able 

to hangout again in New Orleans 

at the Essence Music Festival, it 

was much of the same. There are 

so many memories that Ivan and 

I have shared but just to name a 

few: the formation of the DDC, 

great rivalries shared in basketball 

and bowling, our guys trip to New 

Orleans with other close friends, 

and the fun times we had cooking 

at each other’s houses. I would 

like to say to Ivan, “Ensure that you 

both love each other as hard as 

you can, as long as you can, and 

as much as you can. Honor God 

by preserving your commitment 

to one another and never let that 

flame that burns deep extinguish.”

Tim and Ivan met in 1998 through 

a mutual friend Cedric Poole. 

Cedric invited me to his house 

to watch the game and hang out 

with the guys. Ivan was one of 

the guys there and we just hit 

it off. We always got together 

to cookout, watch sports and 

occasionally play sports. We were 

actively involved in basketball, 

flag football, and softball. Ivan is 

like one of my brother, so much 

that he has inherited my younger 

big brother Randal, as his own as 

well. We have so many memories 

from my time in Brookhaven, 

such as the time we were leaving 

Wendy’s and got stuck in the 

middle of the street after Ivan’s 

car stopped. That was definitely 

comical! Our life paths often have 

us in different parts of the globe, 

but our bond will never be broken. 

I have always been there for Ivan

My fondest memory of Tasha 

and Ivan was the time Tasha, 

Ivan, Ahsh, my husband, Daryl 

and I went to New Orleans to the 

Essence Music Festival. We made 

so many memoires while there. 

For the wedding, I am one of the

I am Tasha’s God sister and 

her “Ride or Die” friend. We 

met the summer of 1996 while 

working with her at The Movies 

at Governor Square Theater. 

Entering each other’s lives, it has 

truly been God sent. There are 

so many great moment I share

entire magazine if I shared them

The fondest memory I have with 

Tasha & Ivan is when we all went 

to New Orleans for the Essence 

Festival and stayed in a Historic 

Condo in the French Quarters. We 

hung out the entire weekend. We 

laughed and talked and just had 

a great time. For the wedding, I 

am Tasha’s Right Hand and one 

of the fierce ladies selected to 

be a part of The Entourage Red. 

Tasha and Ivan, A marriage is not 

50-50..Divorce is 50-50. Marriage 

has to be 100 -100! It isn’t dividing 

everything in half, but giving 

everything you’ve got! 

Tasha is family and I refer to 

Tasha as my “other sister”. Tasha 

and I share so many memories 

together and through our 

children. I will never forget on 

Theria’s eleventh birthday, Gerald 

Levert sadly passed away on. 

Once Tasha, received the news, 

she paused Theria’s party for a 

couple of hours and we all went 

to her house and had a moment 

of silence in the driveway. Tasha 

cried so much that day, she 

must’ve really had a bond with 

him. Tasha and Ivan, I am so 

happy that Tasha has found her 

Prince Charming! Ivan is so lucky 

to have met such a special loving 

and remarkable woman with 

endless endeavors. I wish you

Tasha and I have been friends 

since we met our freshman 

year at Alcorn State University. 

Whenever we get together there 

is never a dull moment. The 

fondest memory I have of Tasha 

is being lost and trying to navigate 

our way through Caesar’s Palace 

in search for Juno Gardens to 

attend Allison’s wedding. Long 

story short, Tasha ran up on 

Caesar, grabbed his arm and 

didn’t let go until he gave her 

directions. Needless to say, my 

husband and I weren’t the only 

ones giving Tasha the “You Don’t 

Touch Caesar” look. He and his 

guards were rendered speechless 

as well. Tasha and Ivan, Pray hard 

and Live Life! 

I met Ivan in 2004 when I moved 

back to Natchez. We were at 

Steve’s house, and I was trying 

to put together a coaching staff 

for the Natchez High School’s 

football team. Even though my 

relationship with Ivan began 

as colleagues, our relationship 

transformed into lifelong friends 

as well as fraternity brothers. 

We have been together through 

good and bad life altering events. 

We have seen each other grow 

as men, and we continue to 

help each other reach our goals 

in life both professionally and 

personally. Some of the fondest 

memories I have with Ivan are 

our accomplishments at Natchez 

High School with our players 

over the years: wins at Petal 

and beating number 1 ranked 

Meridian. We have had some 

classic trips and outings that I 

choose not to elaborate on!!! The 

one thing that I will say to Tasha 

and Ivan is to have each other’s 

back at all times. Continue to have 

fun together. Lastly, trust each 

other and most importantly, trust 

God. As one of the distinguished 

Men of the Entourage, my role is 

to do whatever he needs me to do.

our lives. The summers spent 

together in Natchez and Piney 

Woods were always the highlight 

of the year, next to Christmas and 

other holidays. I met Ivan when 

they began dating. Ivan is just 

one cool dude and is always laid 

back and down for whatever…with 

limits. During a family vacation in 

Destin we had a blast on our boat 

ride. We passed the Captain hat 

around and took turns navigating 

the waters, but Ivan didn’t want 

me to drive anymore after I got 

the boat stuck!

EVELYN “SHAE” SMITH 

I am Tasha’s God-sister. Our 

relationship developed through 

my mother who is Tasha’s 

Godmother and her mother’s best 

friend. I don’t have a biological 

sister, but God definitely blessed 

me when he made Tasha a part 

of my life as my God-sister. 

Some of my fondest memories 

with Tasha include spending 

summers in Tallahassee with her 

and my Godmother Theresa and 

attending family events such as 

parties, graduations, reunions, 

and etc. There is rarely a family 

occasion that we do not celebrate 

together. Tasha and Ivan, I wish 

you all much love, happiness, and 

success in your marriage. I pray 

that God continues to bless you 

guys individually and collectively 

as you guys embark on the 

journey of marriage together. 

CARMETHA THOMPSON 

Alhough Tasha is my cousin, we 

grew up like sisters. When growing 

up, Candi, Tasha, and I were the 

three amigos plus our cousin 

Eric Bailey. Candi once told us a 

t car air conditioner vent. Their 

job was to sing and talk to us. So 

one day, Tasha and I decided to 

feed the people inside the vents 

French fries, surely they had to 

be hungry after singing non-stop. 

Again, Candi tells us another story 

about the American Broadcast 

System...”this is just a test”. She 

told us that we should always 

keep quiet whenever it aired on 

TV, because the people inside 

the television were listening to 

everything we said. So whenever 

we would hear it, the two of us 

paused in our steps and because 

we didn’t want the people to hear 

what we were saying. I share so 

many fond memories with Tasha 

from double teaming Candi, to 

playing church, taking trips, and 

getting whippings together. Tasha 

and Ivan, Remember to have fun! 

NICOLE “NIKKI” WILSON 

A college friend of Tasha Bailey, 

we met in 1996 when crossed 

paths at the Governors’ Square 

Movie Theater. Tasha and I have 

always been able to talk, laugh 

and have fun. One day at work, 

Tasha and I were walking down 

the hall in the movie theater. We 

both had our eyes on some lost 

money on the ground. Without 

saying a word to each other about 

the lost treasure, we both begin to 

walk very quickly. Before we knew 

it, we both dove for the funds on 

the floor. We grabbed it at the 

same time, and for a few seconds, 

we laughed and kind of sort of 

wrestled for it. However, after 

realizing that wrestling match 

was going nowhere, we decided 

to split the money 50-50. I still 

have that carpet burn. Tasha and 

Ivan, Keep God at the core of your 

marriage. He is that third string. If 

you all ever have issues with each 

other or need guidance, seek Him 

and allow Him to order your steps. 



TREY WOODARD 

Ivan and I started out as simply 

co-workers in 2004, but our 

relationship eventually grew past 

that. Our football coaching staff 

became brothers. We all grew 

up together as coaches and as 

men while working at NHS. I 

think we would all agree, we are 

much better together than apart. 

There are several great memories 

I have with Ivan. The funniest 

was in Vicksburg, MS during our 

second year as coaches. The 

Vicksburg game was tied, and 

we were watching a PAT attemptwith 

hands held and standing 

way to close for straight men to 

stand together-praying for him 

to make it. Then he missed it! In 

reality those ten years with Ivan 

and the other guys are ten of the 

best of my life. My final words to 

Ivan before he says, “I Do” are, “I 

hope you find the success in your 

life, professionally and personally, 

that you deserve.” 

ALEXINE “ZINE” WRIGHT 

While in elementary, I became 

acquainted with Ivan because 

people thought he was my twin 

brother. I later met Tasha during 

our eleventh grade year at Natchez 

High School when “sized up the 

new girl” that joined our basketball 

team. Our senior year, Tasha 

didn’t play for health reasons but 

served as a manager (who would 

instruct the other managers 

to fill our coolers with shower 

water). Tasha, the girls, and I have 

experienced so much together: 

the births of our children, our 

college graduations, weddings, 

shut down of clubs, our children’s’ 

graduations, etc. I reconnected 

with Ivan when we became 

employed as teachers and 

coaches at NHS. Tasha and Ivan, 

“Marriage does not guarantee you 

will be together forever; it is only 

paper. It takes love, respect, trust, 

understanding, compromises 

(not your identity and not your 

soul), friendship, and faith in your 

relationship and in each other to 

make it last.” Lastly, “Marriage is 

being able to bug the hell out of 

one person for the rest of your life 

and still love that person with your 

heart and soul.’”
