We should elim<strong>in</strong>ate <strong>the</strong> danger of right-lean<strong>in</strong>g 35 exclusionism <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Party</strong>’s policy toward m<strong>as</strong>s<br />

organizations. This danger h<strong>as</strong> three types.<br />

1. Narrow cl<strong>as</strong>s-l<strong>in</strong>e to be evaded<br />

Such a wrong stand presently prevails <strong>as</strong> carry<strong>in</strong>g out worker-pe<strong>as</strong>ant work only and<br />

label<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> petit bourgeoisie <strong>as</strong> “surrendered” and lagg<strong>in</strong>g beh<strong>in</strong>d <strong>the</strong> m<strong>as</strong>ses. Some<br />

worker-work comrades arbitrarily proposed <strong>the</strong> slogan, “Workers have no home country”.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se comrades forgot that <strong>the</strong> <strong>Party</strong>’s present pr<strong>in</strong>cipal t<strong>as</strong>k w<strong>as</strong> still an anti-imperialist<br />

united front. <strong>The</strong>y merely saw <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>terests of <strong>the</strong> worker-pe<strong>as</strong>ant movement and ignored<br />

that petit bourgeois citizens generally had <strong>in</strong>tensified <strong>the</strong>ir anti-imperialist sentiment day by<br />

day. <strong>The</strong>y did not take <strong>the</strong> stand that <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>terests of cl<strong>as</strong>s co<strong>in</strong>cided with those of nationals (<br />

民 族 ).<br />

As a result, us<strong>in</strong>g such slogans <strong>as</strong> “cooperation between employee and employer”,<br />

“goodwill between Ch<strong>in</strong>a and Brita<strong>in</strong>” and “whole nation’s diplomacy” ( 国 民 外 交 ),<br />

reactionary elements of <strong>the</strong> bourgeoisie attacked our <strong>Party</strong> <strong>as</strong> a narrow cl<strong>as</strong>s representative<br />

and concealed <strong>the</strong>ir own compromise and surrender. This narrow policy l<strong>in</strong>e, which merely<br />

relies on worker-pe<strong>as</strong>ant’s unity, cannot defeat <strong>the</strong> enemy’s aggression. If this view-po<strong>in</strong>t<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>ues and develops, it will help <strong>the</strong> enemy to break <strong>the</strong> unity of <strong>the</strong> nationals<br />

( 民 族 团 结 ).<br />

2. Lack of historical view-po<strong>in</strong>t<br />

Ignor<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> concrete historical development of <strong>the</strong> m<strong>as</strong>ses of <strong>the</strong>ir districts, <strong>the</strong>se comrades<br />

implemented <strong>the</strong> <strong>Party</strong>’s m<strong>as</strong>s organization work. In particular, North <strong>Malayan</strong> comrades<br />

merely saw an ever ris<strong>in</strong>g anti-imperialist sentiment. Never historically observ<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />

backwardness of <strong>the</strong> local m<strong>as</strong>ses (greatly different from S<strong>in</strong>gapore), <strong>the</strong>y adamantly<br />

implemented <strong>the</strong> m<strong>as</strong>s organization l<strong>in</strong>e decided at <strong>the</strong> 6 th Enlarged Plenum. On <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

hand, a large number of comrades recognized that only through struggle could we extend<br />

our organizations. Some comrades (such <strong>as</strong> Perak) publicly declared <strong>the</strong>ir resolve to stop<br />

open societies’ organizational work. Old societies were quietly dissolved one after ano<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

Some comrades virtually turned <strong>the</strong> trade union movement <strong>in</strong>to a secret cell movement.<br />
