2.18 SITE RULES
The following general site rules are applicable to all persons working on this
project, and apply to all companies and persons working on the site, including
RG employees, the client's representatives, designers and visitors, and are to
be strictly complied with by ALL at ALL times. Safety must not be
compromised under any circumstances. Adhere to all safety procedures, safe
systems of work etc and observe the following Site Rules at ALL times:

Plan ahead, be aware of the risks, look out for hazards and guard against them and always choose the safe
way – think before you act;
Wear hard hats, safety footwear, Hi-Vis and suitable gloves and eye protection at all times, hearing
protection and other PPE as instructed and necessary;
Watch where you are going and look out for and avoid anything that can cause you to slip, trip or fall – do not
walk with your hands in your pockets or where your vision is obstructed & NEVER step backwards;
Use only designated and safe access and egress routes to and from the site and the welfare facilities and
around the site to and from workplaces;
Use only designated welfare facilities for eating, drinking and toilets - treat them with respect. Smoke only
in designated areas, NO SMOKING on site;
Check your work area regularly and ensure that it is safe and free from hazards, with any holes, openings,
changes in level etc covered, protected, fenced or barriered off and with appropriate warning/safety
signage provided;
Keep your workplace safe and tidy, regularly remove rubbish and waste - clear up or barrier off with
warning signage any wet, slippery etc areas arising from your work. Always check your workplace is safe
before you leave the area;

Keep your mind on your work. NO radios, personal stereos, mobile phones etc;
Obey all fire, danger and other safety signs and instructions and be aware of the First Aid and Emergency
Arrangements;
Drive vehicles safely, observe speed limits, obey traffic rules and never reverse or drive in public areas
without a trained banksman;
Report or bring to the immediate attention of your supervisor or RG Site Management, any unsafe working
conditions or practices, and any accident, injury or damage. Be proactive in helping us to make and keep
the site safe for all.

Go to work if under the influence of alcohol or drugs, nor drink alcohol, or use any drug, unless under
medical advice and with the knowledge of your employer, during the working day;
Operate or use any plant, equipment, tools, working platforms etc for which you have not been properly
trained, instructed and authorised by your employer, or that may be a risk to yourself or others, or that has
not been provided or approved by your employer;
Work at height without suitable edge protection or nets or a harness securely clipped on, and with a safety
zone around the work area. Do not use improvised work platforms and do not stand on, climb over etc
plant, equipment, cabinets, gondolas etc;
Work in areas or use access routes, stairs, ramps etc that are unlit or poorly lit, and if any of these are unlit
or poorly lit STOP immediately and do not proceed and report this to your supervisor or RG Site
Management;
Walk, stand or work near anything that could collapse, topple or fall on you;
Use defective, faulty or incorrect plant, equipment, tools, vehicles or machinery, nor leave any of them
unattended and working or with the keys in where they could be a danger to others. DO NOT interfere with
or by-pass any safety devices or automatic cut-out switches;
Carry out any unauthorised adaption or alteration to, or in any way interfere with, ladders, scaffolding,
guardrails, edge protection, safety devices or any other equipment;
Wear shorts, skirts, kilts, sleeveless shirts or modify PPE;
Work or walk anywhere that is unsafe nor take chances – do NOT let familiarity make you contemptuous of
danger.
