You probably
never give it a
second thought
when you drink
a glass or two of soda per
day, what is it really doing
to your body? Most people
only consider the amount
of sugar contributing to the
obesity epidemic, sugar
they are consuming and
the added calories. New
studies have shown that
sugar is not the only thing
you need to consider when
drinking that sweet soda.
Besides contributing to the
obesity epidemic, sugar soft drinks
age the body’s cells prematurely,
which in turn accelerate the cellular

aging of tissue. Daily consumption
of a 20 ounce soda has been
associated with an additional 4.6
years of biological aging. This is
similar to the rate of a person who
smokes a pack of cigarettes daily.
Studies also have shown
that soda ages the white blood
cells called telomere - these
are the caps at the end of
your chromosomes. These
chromosomes protect your DNA.
Surveys show that participants
who drank more soda had
shorter or less of the Telomere

Soda is also linked to several
other heath issues including:
Dramatic fat build up around your
liver and your skeletal muscles,
which result in insulin resistance/
diabetes. It raises your blood
glucose, and converts into body fat
- leading to obesity. The artificial
caramel dyes in soda have been
found to cause cancer (in animals
which were tested) These dyes
are considered totally cosmetic
and unnecessary in any beverage.

High sugar levels in soda can
cause cavities and breaks down
enamel that can lead to further
dental issues. A chemical called
“brominated vegetable oil” or
“BVO” added to some sodas (found
mainly in citrus based sodas and
even some sports drinks) has been
found to cause memory loss and
nerve disorders when consumed in
large amounts.
Soda contains GMOs which
are genetically modified crops.
Drinks/ food that contain GMOs
has been linked to digestive tract
damage and infertility. Today
more than 17% of boys are born
with disconnected urethra (which
causes infertility). A study done in
France found rats that were fed
GMO corn developed mammary
tumors and died earlier than the
rats fed non-GMO corn.
If that isn’t enough nearly all
soda is distributed in aluminum
cans. Aluminum cans are lined
with BPA this is a epoxy resin
used to keep the acids in the
soda from reacting with the metal.
BPA is known to interfere with
hormones, cause obesity,
diabetes, and some form of
reproductive cancer.
So this little information
that I leave you with are
ONLY some of the effects
of drinking soda, what
can you do curve that
addiction? I can only hope
that the next time your
thirsty you choose wisely.

TIPS FROM THE UR IT Pros
IMPROVING DAILY DAILY CLEANING HABITS
1. The kitchen is one of the most
used rooms in the house. If you keep
counters, sinks, and appliances cleaned
regularly, this will prevent bacteria
build up and hard to scrub stains.
3. Low on cleaning supplies? Vinegar
will put a sparkle to any glass surface
and even your coffee pot! Run 6-8oz
of vinegar through your coffee
maker just like you would make your
morning brew, then repeat two times
after with fresh water to give a good
clean sparkle.
4. Try to make a consistent laundry
routine, you don’t want that laundry
to pile up! Many germs can be
carried on clothes. No detergent? Try
dish liquid - It will clean just as fresh
and kills bacteria.
6. As we go about our daily
routines, especially outside our
atmosphere. We not only carry
germs on us, but in us as well. Of
course our immune system usually
fights off these germs, but some
may still linger. That is why it’s
important to keep sinks, toilets,
and counter tops cleaned daily.
2. Coffee pots and filter compartments
often stain during the brewing process.
Wipe clean after each use to maximize
freshness of coffee. A quick rinse or a
simple paper towel can help control a
lot of these stains.
7. You can turn your housework
into an aerobics session! As
you bend, reach, and scrub, use
arching movements while working
those stomach and back muscles.
Use your arms and legs when
scrubbing and lifting while
you clean.
5. Hand sanitizer need at least 15
seconds before becoming effective.
So before you reach for anything
make sure your sanitizer is rubbed
in and dry, or you could spread the
germs further.

The crowd of people was diverse
and ready to shop! “I was very pleased
with the variety of merchandise that was
available for purchase” commented a
fashion show attendee. The Altoona Grand
Hotel (location of the fashion show) has
recently updated their facilities making
the atmosphere very pleasant, clean, and
enjoyable. Their was a live DJ, delicious
edibles from D’lites sweets and UTZ
foods. The day got kicked off at noon,
people began to steadily arrive. The
crowd was very sociable, networking
and meeting with the all the fashion
show participants. “I enjoyed the one
on one experience with the vendors,
I was really able to get to know the
products and what their business was
about - not like the mall atmosphere
where you can’t get any answers
or product information” said Terry
Longsinger fashion show guest.

fashion show guests
commented after the
show that she had no
idea that the clothing
was from the 1900’s,
I was lead to believe
she was impressed

items in the show.
There are so many local business owners/
entrepreneurs with interesting products
and top of the line customer service. It is
not only beneficial to the owners but to us
to support them. We get a better product,
better customer care, and can build amazing
relationships along the way.

The answer is of course “DIAMONDS.”
A diamond is April’s birthstone along with
white topaz, white zircon, crystal quartz
and any clear gemstone. The word diamond
comes from the Greek word adamas. Unlike
other gems named for mythological gods,
adamas simply means invincible.
The legend and lore of the diamond is quite
vast, so I’ll only mention a few. King Louis
IX of France passed a law stating only the
King could own a diamond. Cupid’s arrows
were tipped with diamonds and Plato spoke
of diamonds as living beings and celestial
spirits. In the Middle Ages, a garden touched
on all four corners with diamonds would be
protected from blight, and a diamond was
thought to calm the mentally ill. The guilt

is exhibited in The Tower of London. This crown
has over 3,000 diamonds and the front bottom
center diamond has a carat weight of 317.40.
There are also rubies, sapphires, emeralds
and pearls and the red stone front and center
once thought to be a ruby is actually an uncut
polished red spinel.
Diamonds come in many colors including red,
blue, black, yellow, green and champagne. So if
you’re in doubt about what your stone might be,
it’s best to have it checked by a certified jeweler.

APRIL HOROSCOPES
-Aries & Taurus -
The lunar eclipse on April 5th 2015 will
take place with the Moon in the sign
of Libra. The effects - surprising and
sometimes noisy - will be felt on the
days around this date and will concern
especially relationships (couples, collaborations,
friendship, etc.), justice, the areas of arts, beauty
industry and entertainment. Aries and Libra will of
course be the first affected, but the events will not
address to them exclusively.
The first decan of April 2015 will also be very
animated by the successive Sun-Uranus and
Mercury-Uranus conjunctions that will take place
in Aries and will generate unusual, unexpected
and renewing effects, but also sudden changes of
situations, various incidents and accidents. The
most concerned signs will be the cardinal ones:
Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
The strongest aspects of April 2015 will be formed
by Mars, located in Taurus: a pragmatic, ambitious
and determined trine with Pluto in Capricorn, and
a completely uninhibited and unrestrained square
with Jupiter in Leo.
The Mars-Pluto trine will give the direction and
tenacity, while the Mars-Jupiter square will give the
exuberance and the unconscious courage which
often lead to great deeds. He who knows how to
combine the effects of these two aspects will have
the desired accomplishments.
Beware, though, because this combination carries
a risk of fanaticism which, put together with the
hidden influence of the developing square between
Saturn and Neptune, can lead to regrettable
misdirection!
After they take place, the two aspects of Mars’
will be reiterated and stregthened by Mercury,
which in the second part of April 2015 will first
form a square with Jupiter, then a trine with Pluto
and finally a conjunction with Mars. Taureans will
be the first concerned, of course, but a mixed
influence will be exerted on all signs, in one
domain of life or another.
Still in April 2015, Jupiter and Pluto will change
their direction of movement (Jupiter will resume
its straight movement, and Pluto will start a
retrograde movement). This “re-orientation” will
disturb them, will make them more unpredictable,
more aggressive.
All these astral events will make April 2015 a lively,
tumultuous, colorful, exciting and challenging
month, but with a high risk of careless acts,
conflict, violence, accidents. Things could easily
get out of control, including as regards finances,
assets and valuable things.
ARIES (MARCH 21 – APRIL 19)
Aries are acknowledged as daring leaders but
often fall into the trap of “thinking they know
better”. They have an acute sense of discernment
but seldom bother to investigate the specifics of
a situation.
Strengths: Brave, enthusiastic, strong-minded,
confident, energetic, leadership qualities.
Weaknesses: Impatient, often entangled in petty
arguments, limited by fear.
TAURUS (APRIL 20 – MAY 20)
Taurus’s make good companions as they are
very dependable. If you have made plans with a
Taurus, rest assured he/she will be there and on
time too! They are also patient creatures but can
be intolerant and narrow-minded as well.
Strengths: Faithful, resourceful, longing to show
love, and make successful business people.
Weaknesses: Obstinacy, greediness, being
