The Union HRD ministry is planning
to launch a unique scheme to
track the academic performance of
school children across the country
and also identify the dropouts. This
programme next month that would
probably be the world’s largest student
tracking systemThe scheme has
been named ‘Shaala ASMITA’, an acronym
for All School Monitoring Individual
Tracking and Analysis.
Under this online system,
data related to all
schools will be collected
with the assistance of
local and state administration
and their performance
will be monitored,
official sources said.
It is a simple process
under which the Aadhaar
number or a specially
generated number will
be used to track a child’s progress,
officials said.
“People learn from education and
can express dissent and ask questions.
They no longer remain students
but become prospective political
opponents,” he said.
“If SmritiIrani claims to be our
mother, why did she not feel hurt
when students were being arrested,
why did she not come to our rescue.
On the other hand, she seems to have
instigated action against students,”
Kanhaiya added.
The HRD ministry is getting support
of the states for this unique
initiative and it is expected that the
scheme will be launched by mid-June.

will also help in providing accurate
data about schools and better monitoring
of different programmes
including the
Mid-Day meal scheme

crore school students
from Class I to Class XII
across 15 lakh schools
in the country. In other

information about student attendance
and enrolment, mid-day meal

facilities, among other

it seeks to join other
South Korean firms

source said.
Mando, which makes
steering, brake and
suspension parts, currently
supplies steering
racks for Tesla’s Model
S vehicles.
The source did not
provide any details on
the parts that Mando
would supply for the
cheaper Model 3, citing
confidentiality. While
Tesla spokesperson
was not immediately
available for comment,
Mando spokesman declined
to comment.
South Korea’s Maeil
Business Newspaper
reported on Monday
that Mando had been
chosen by Tesla to
develop and supply
self-driving car technology
and parts, pushing
up Mando’s share price.
Asked to comment, a
Tesla spokesperson in
San Francisco said “The
rumors are not true.
Tesla currently sources
steering racks for its
Model S vehicles from
Mando. It does not supply
autonomous technology
systems.”

various patterns. At I/O
2016, Dan Kaufman,
Director of Google’s
ATAP team, in a low
profile announcement
updated about the project
saying that it will
be available to developers
by end of 2016.
To recall, ‘Project
Abacus’ was initially
introduced by Google
last year and was
seen as an improvement
over two-factor
authentication. Google
had announced that
the project was in trials
and it tied up with 33
universities to test this
feature. The company
had stressed that passwords
are hard to remember
and the ‘Project
Abacus’ was said to
be aimed at learning
the user patters such
as typing, walking, location,
and much more.
According to a report
by TechCrunch,
Kaufman has confirmed
that with ‘Project
Abacus’, users can
unlock a device or
sign-in to an app based
on “Trust Score.” The
score is calculated by
various user patterns.
Detailing about the
project, Kaufman said,
“We have a phone, and
these phones have all
these sensors in them.
Why couldn’t it just
know who I was, so I
don’t need a password?
I should just be able to
work.” He added that
engineers at Google
have turned the “Trust
Score” to “Trust API.”
Google will test the
“Trust API” with “several
very large financial
institutions” next
month. “And assuming
it goes well, this should
become available to every
Android developer
around the world by the
end of the year,” the report
quoted Kaufman.

for the play-offs for
two straight seasons
meant Sunrisers Hyderabad
were often
overlooked when possible

the play-offs in IPL 9
were discussed. They

RCB and secondly to
the seasoned Kolkata
Knight Riders.
However,
sometimes
greater challenges
seem to bring
out the best in teams,
and that’s what happened
with Sunrisers,
suddenly SRH had a
winning equation.
Eight wins in ten
games had Sunrisers
on the brink of the
play-offs after a long
wait, before Nehra’s
injury slightly affected
the rhythm of
the Sunrisers. For all
their consistency, SRH
had to settle for third
place for perhaps letting
their foot off the
gas a bit in the end.
The IPL is quite unforgiving
and Sunrisers
must pull their socks
up again, before the
eliminator.
Kolkata Knight Riders
Been there, done
that! It was normal
business for Kolkata
Knight Riders as they
geared up for the 9th
edition of the IPL.
Strong, well-balanced
squad, experience of
winning the trophy
and a favourites tag.
That was all that the
Knight Riders were so
used to.
And the season
began in spectacular
fashion, as KKR
trumped Delhi Daredevils
at fortress Eden
Gardens and justify
their favourites tag
straight away. Twin
defeats to Mumbai
Indians meant that

suited for AB to launch,
which he did, taking
him for 14 runs.
KKR’s momentum was
broken twice, still the
2014 champions were
still well-placed to
make the play-offs after

undergone a surgery
on his left knee, the
England and Wales
Cricket Board (ECB)
confirmed on Tuesday
(May 24).
Stokes had injured
himself during the first
Test match against

month. Injured midway,
he played very
little part in the rest of
the test and was ruled
out of the series.
The all-rounder had
