identified during Material Investigation to conform to latest MORTH<br />

specification.<br />

4.12 Detailed Design of Road and Pavements, Bridges, Structures<br />

4.12.1. General<br />

1. The Consultants are to carry out ‘good for tender’ designs and drawings for the<br />

following:<br />

4.12.2. Design Standards<br />

i. high speed highway with divided carriageway configuration complete in all<br />

respects with service roads at appropriate locations;<br />

ii. design of pavement for the additional lanes and overlay for the existing road,<br />

paved shoulders, medians, verges;<br />

iii. bridges, viaduct/subways and other grade separated structures including<br />

ROBs/RUBs etc.;<br />

iv. at-grade and grade-separated intersections, interchanges (if required);<br />

v. ROB for railway crossings as per the requirement and the standards of the<br />

Indian Railways; and,<br />

vi. prepare alignment plans, longitudinal sections and cross-sections @<br />

50mintervals;<br />

vii. designs for road furniture and road safety/traffic control features;<br />

viii. designs and drawings for service road/under passes/overpass / cattle passes tree<br />

planting/fencing at locations where necessary / required;<br />

ix.. toll plazas and office-cum-residential complex for PIU (one for each civil<br />

contract package);<br />

x short bypasses at congested locations;<br />

xi. drainage design showing location of turnouts, out falling structures, separate<br />

drawings sheet for each 5 km. stretch.<br />

xii. bridges and structures rehabilitation plan with design and drawings;<br />

xiii. traffic amenities (Parking Areas, Weighing Station and Rest Areas, etc.);<br />

xiv Design of pavement for approach road<br />

xv Design of river bank protection / training works -Innovative type of<br />

structures with minimum joints, aesthetically, pleasing and appropriate<br />

to the topography of the region shall be designed wherever feasible.<br />

1. The Consultants shall evolve Design Standards and material specifications for<br />

the Study primarily based on IRC publications, MORTH Circulars and relevant<br />

recommendations of the international standards for approval by NHIDCL.<br />

2. The Design Standards evolved for the project shall cover all aspects of detailed<br />

design including the design of geometric elements, pavement design, bridges<br />

and structures, traffic safety and materials.<br />

4.12.3. Geometric Design<br />

1. The design of geometric elements shall, therefore, take into account the essential<br />

requirements of such facilities.<br />

2. Based on the data collected from reconnaissance and topographic surveys, the<br />

sections with geometric deficiencies, if any, should be identified and suitable
