In 1984, our company was founded by Chris
Reeve who saw a need for a better knife:
a tool that played a pivotal role in his life
working in machine shops and racing along
the streets of Durban, South Africa. Chris
knew that a well made knife — the oldest
and most invaluable tool known to mankind
— could not only function as a lifeline in an
emergency, but also serve as an extension
of the arm on a daily basis - inspiring people
to reconnect with their hands and most
importantly, set an uncompromising standard
of craftsmanship.
Chris Reeve Knives has grown since the
days of handcrafting in a hot South-African
garage, but the foundation of our company
has held strong. With quality, innovation,
and excellence at the forefront of our minds,
we’ve grown into a thriving facility, now based
in Boise, Idaho USA.
Proudly made in Idaho
Folding Knives
For something so key to
daily life for many, the
world of pocket knives is
surprisingly complex. The
challenge to design the
best knife has taught us
to examine our standards
daily and to insist only on
success. We’ve spent
years developing machine
technology to produce
exceptional knives, while still
maintaining custom quality.
Working from the ground up
with our founder and expert
designer Chris Reeve and
talented production team
in Boise, we’ve invested in
reliability and strength that
you’ll only find from Chris
Reeve Knives: designed to
be in your hand and in your
pocket, rooted in comfort,
function, and durability.
Inkosi
The Chief
The Inkosi is a new family of
folding knives that will claim the
position of Chief alongside the
iconic Sebenza.
This design continues to push
the characteristics of the Integral
Lock®, blade strength, pivot
tolerances as well as over all
ergonomics.

Oversized twin
Two Finger
Foregrip
Large Pivot

08
A carefully developed hollow grind, strengthened pivot
and sturdy lock up were the starting points for our new
family of Inkosi folding knives.
While challenging the standards of the Integral Lock®,
the Inkosi is the most over built knife of its kind, a true
testament of strength. Using a ceramic ball as an interface
for the lock bar to the blade tang, it ensures a lifetime of
consistent lock up.
This is the first time we have been able to use twin, over
sized washers with an Integral lock. The washer diameter
is wider than the blade securing zero sideways play. With
larger lubrication holes there is even less surface area of
friction.
With our Large Hollow Grind technology, we use a shallow
radius to add more strength to the blade, making it half
way between a flat grind and our standard hollow grind.
At 97RC, the strength
of the ceramic ball
end lock privides a
lifetime consistent
lock up
Mounted Pocket Clip rests on the
back face, eliminating the possibility
of pressure on the lockbar and
provides a more ergonomic grip
COMPUTER GENERATED GRAPHICS
Machined by Mike. Sperry
We introduced our computer generated graphics to
enhance the knife we’ve grown to love and we’ve
run various series over the last 16 years. This year, we
challenged our design team to dig into their skills as
artisans and machinists to produce clean designs, while
still pushing the envelope in computer design and C&C
Machining. The tightrope Mike walks on a daily basis is
a balance between executing intricate designs while still
maintaining production efficiency.
Rarely do machining and
freehand visual art blend.
Often, milling is planned
and drawn out in precision
CAD programs. However,
in art, the decision to place
a line is governed by
emotion and instinct. With
great skill and precision,
Umnumzaan was the first introduction of the
Ceramic Ball-End Integral Lock mechanism.
Sturdy and over-built, the Umnumzaan brings
the strength of a fixed blade straight to your
pocket. With a sandblasted crosshatched
grip and a wide lock bar, the Umnumzaan
is meant for a non-slip grip and action for a
A Brief History of
1984
Chris began making
knives full-time in
With the brillant designs of
Bill Harsey and CRK’s
internationally acclaimed history
of quality, Harsey and Reeve
were contracted to build a knife,
in of honor the US Army Special
Forces - The Yarborough. For
years, the no-nonsense knife
was gifted only to Green Beret
graduates. The nonserialized
civillian version, in honor of its
namesake, is called, the “Green
manufactures today.
2001
first Manufacturing Quality Award
in 2000. Since then, with
machining tolerances compared
to that of NASA’s and a welltrained
received the award 13 additional
times, along with multiple
Chris Reeve
Knives
1989
Anne Reeve joined the company full-time
in ‘87, commencing a 30+ year partnership.
With interest in Chris’s designs already
sparking across Europe, Asia and the USA,
the duo took a leap and immigrated to the USA in 1989.
1991 “Original” Sebenza
Chris began crafting handmade
versions of the Sebenza sometime
around 1989, but it wasn’t until
1991, in the first official CRK
machine shop, that the “Original
Sebenza” made it’s way through
production.
Outside of raising their newborn
son, Tim, becoming US citizens,
and figuring out why aluminum
(al-lou-min-ee-um) sounds so funny
in American English - the Reeves
had a lot going on throughout the
rest of the 1990s. In subsequent
years, CRK saw two shop expansions,
a revolving wheel of perfecting
the Sebenza, and a whole lot of
hollow handle knife production. Confident in the teams that helped
bring his vision to life, Chris passed
the torch to Anne, moved out of
CRK’s daily operations, and into the
2015
beautiful mountains of small-town,
2012
Idaho in 2014. The shop continues to
2010
grow, led by a passion for precision
and quality manufacturing.
Our Fixed Blade line is interwoven with bush-craft history and
the modern warrior - making each knife as rugged as they
are adaptable. In partnership with internationally recognized
tactical knife designer, William W. Harsey, we’ve focused on
blade and handle contour and worked only with the finest
materials. The blades are CPM S35VN and hollow-ground
for minimal maintenance and maximum edge retention,
alongside handles made to improve grip, regardless of
moisture or terrain. Whether slung from the hip, hand or in
the kitchen, our fixed blades are built to be the strongest
tools in the field.
Sikayo
The sharpest tool
in the kitchen
For the better part of 25 years,
Chris has been mulling over
designs of kitchen knives. At
last we see the range of chef’s
knives known as Sikayo. They
showcase Chris’s out-ofthe-box
ideas, incorporating
concepts in the style of
Japanese Sushi knives,
countered with modern lines
and state-of-the-art materials.
As much as the word Sikayo
might have a Japanese
sound, it is the Zulu word for
“sharp”! The cutting edge of
the Sikayo is exceptional and
truly lives up to the name. The
broad blade is ground only
on one side for exceptional
slicing; the cutting edge has a
good curve that allows cutting
with minimal pressure; the
curve also facilitates “rocking”
dicing of vegetables and
herbs. The handle on the side
against your palm is thicker
than the other side, offering
a comfortable hold without
pressure; the full tang and the
grooves in the UItem 1000®
give excellent radial grip.
These knives are dedicated
left or right handed.

Crucible, Niagra, and Our Steel
One thing we’ve learned over the
years: Producing quality product
means sourcing the finest raw
materials.
As many have found, the search
for blade steel, is always a
compromise between ease of
sharpening, edge retention, and
corrosion resistance. In other
words there is no ‘Ultimitanium’.
Chris and Bill Harsey worked
vigorously with the metallurgists
at Crucible Steel to craft the right
mixture specifically for the knife
industry, as to maximize each
characteristic. When they finally
arrived at S35VN Chris specifically
said, “We will not hide any secrets.
This steel is intentionally made for
the knife industry.”
