Development Programs provide aspiring engineers and chemists with a well-rounded
introduction to cement manufacturing while developing skills in leadership, technical
understanding and creative problem solving. Summer internships introduce college
students to the industry and serve as a pipeline to a full-time career.

INTERNSHIP +
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM.
SUMMER INTERNSHIP: Twelve weeks during your junior and/or senior years.
GOAL: A well-rounded introduction to the cement manufacturing process including:
l Safety, environmental monitoring and compliance operations, reliability and
maintenance of equipment and systems, quality control, process control.
Reporting:
Assigned a mentor who reviews your progress.
Potential for full-time: Engineering or Chemist position.
Compensation: Competitive salary.
Assistance: Paid housing.
Initial Travel: Reimbursement to and from the facility.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Recognizing eligible student interns.
Guidelines:
l Demonstrated a strong work ethic while serving as an Ash Grove Cement Co.,
or Ash Grove subsidiary company intern.
l Exhibited an interest in a cement or related-industry career, specifically with
Ash Grove Cement Co., or one of its subsidiaries.
l Submitted scholarship essay to Human Resources.
Selection:
l Based on these and recommendations from the intern’s management,
Human Resources reviews applications and notifies recipients of the award.

ENGINEERING +
CHEMIST PROGRAMS.
ENGINEERING: Up to two years.
GOAL: A well-rounded introduction to the cement manufacturing
process including:
l Leadership and management skills, marketing and sales,
product use, application and trouble shooting.
l Safety, environmental monitoring and compliance operations,
reliability & maintenance of equipment and systems, quality
control, process control.
CHEMIST: Twelve months while at three different locations.
GOAL: A well-rounded introduction to the cement manufacturing
process including:
l Leadership and management skills, marketing and sales,
product use, application and trouble shooting.
l Geology; quarry development and planning; raw material
sampling, quality, blending and proportioning, cement
chemistry, laboratory equipment operation and maintenance,
process effects on product quality, quality database management.
l Paid housing during training rotations.
ENGINEERING + CHEMIST:
Reporting: Assigned a mentor who reviews your progress.
Completion: Promoted to applicable position at a manufacturing facility
upon successful program completion.
Compensation: Competitive salary and benefit package provided.
Assistance: Relocation assistance.
