The California Mid State Fair Staff and Board of 

Directors would like to welcome you to the 70th 

annual Fair in Paso Robles July 20-31, 2016. This 

year’s theme, “The Adventure Continues……Saving 

the Planet One Fair at a Time”, showcases 

the community coming together for fun, family, 

friendship, education, entertainment, and a celebration 

of our long standing western heritage. 

Top notch entertainment, agricultural activities, and the spirit of competition will 

be highlighted during this year’s Fair. The Fair’s mission to preserve, promote, 

and showcase agriculture and the traditions of San Luis Obispo County will be 

met with competitive livestock and horse shows, and an expanded Rodeo line-up. 

Grandstand and free stage entertainment will feature some of the biggest names 

in the business. 

This year also represents a significant change in leadership for the California Mid 

State Fair and Paso Robles Event Center. Long term Chief Executive Officer Vivian 

Robertson retired in 2015, creating a nationwide search for a new CEO. The Board 

of Directors and Staff would like to thank Pat Kress, 2016 Interim CEO, for her 

service and welcome new CEO, Michael Bradley, who will lead the organization 

into the future. 

The hard work of the staff, dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and the Board of 

Directors all contribute to making the “Biggest Little Fair Anywhere” a huge success.

K-9 Kings Flying Dog Show 

The K9 Kings Flying Dog Show features 

eleven different breeds of dogs including 

rare breeds and rescue dogs, comedy, 

audience participation, acrobatic 

trick dog routines, free giveaways and 

the largest meet greet in the world. 

These K9 Athletes have been featured 

on the CBS Reality Show “Greatest 

American Dog”, Animal Planet, NBC 

Sports and People Magazine. Come 

enjoy this fun, interactive and amazing 

display of human’s best friend. Performances each day at 3:00 

pm, 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Special additional performance at 1:00 

pm on July 23, 24, 25, 26, 30 and 31.

The Rummage Race & 

Industrial Arts Move 

On display for the entire run of the Mid-State Fair, head 

to the Frontier Pavilion to see the Ultimate Upcycle 

Challenge, The Rummage Race! Locals young and old 

have restored various “tired” items that have been 

judged by the Three Speckled Hens. Those items, complete 

with their 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons are now 

on display and for sale!

Final Sunday Rodeos 

Fiesta Del Charro 

Tix $25 


Extreme Team Rodeo 

2:30pm 

Fiesta Del Charro is a classic Mexican-style rodeo competition, complete with 

traditional Charros. The fast-paced rodeo action, paired with authentic Hispanic 

Flare, makes for an event like no other. The rodeo will include a Bull Riding competition 

between American and Mexican Charro riders, Trick Roping, Dancing Horses, 

and Escarmusa (Mexican Drill Team). The combination of traditional Bronc Riding, 

American-style Bull Fighting and live Mariachi bands will bring the flavor of Mexico 

to the sport of the rodeo. The rodeo will be announced in both English and Spanish, 

with live Mexican music.

The Extreme Team Rodeo is not your Grandfather’s Rodeo! The rodeo will feature 

fan favorite events, including Bull Riding and Bull Fighting, along with new events 

such as Bull Poker, Ring of Fire, Toro Teeter Totter and FMX. The contestants are 

just as wild as the rowdy section of the rodeo crowd, and leave fans screaming for 

more!

It’s up and going, CCWC’s newest competition… 

Craft Spirits. The industry is blowing 

up and we want to be a part of it! The 

purpose of this judging is to help promote 

the craft distillers that are producing the 

finest quality artisan spirits in California 

and to give participating distillers valuable 

feedback on the quality and process 

of their spirits. Check out the display in 

Estrella Hall every day of the Fair!

Parade 

Re-vamped and re-energized for 2016 is 

the Mid-State Fair Midway Spectacular 

Parade! The parade will feature music, 

dancers, floats, mascots, characters, the 

2016 Queen and her Court and on special 

days, the world famous Budweiser 

Clydesdales! It’s the “Biggest Little 

Parade Anywhere!” The parade will start 

every day at 4:30 pm, heading from the 

Headliner stage and going down the Midway 

to the Fort Frontier Stage. 

Strolling Acts 

Fables Of The West, a ‘strolling interactive 

grounds act’, says get ready to ride with 

the biggest little cowboys on the Old West 

trail! The cowboy comedy team is often referred 

to as ‘the little cowboys on the little 

horses’ and they always provide 100% 

G-rated, family entertainment. You’re sure 

to get a ‘kick’ from the Fables Of The West 

gang and their trusty steeds! Catch them 

Monday, July 25 through Sunday, July 31.

Don’t miss your chance to see the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales 

up-close and in-person at the 2016 Mid-State Fair! Just head 

on back to the horse stables for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. 

In addition to the daily stable-viewings, you can catch them in action 

in the Midway Spectacular Parade on July 20, 22, 23, 24 and 29 

starting at 4:30 pm; at the Main Entrance of the Mid-State Fair on 

July 27 and 28 from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm; during the Country Rodeo 

Finals on July 30; and during the Fiesta Del Charro on July 31.

Code Blues is a West Coast band dedicated 

to expressin’ the blues with honesty, 

integrity, intensity and a little bit of merriment. 

Danceable grooves, instrumental 

prowess, soul dripped vocals and playful 

banter are the hallmarks of a Code Blues 

performance.

Moon and Charles provide the flowing melodic 

sound on keyboards. Edwin plays a tight and 

deep bass to the precise beat of Terrance on 

the drums. Mitch plays a guitar synth and provides 

leads and smooth rhythms on his guitar. 

George provides you with that sweet horn 

sound and Jon strums the acoustic guitar with 

world class sound.

Trevor cut his teeth in Texas before taking 

his show up to Chicago in 2005. Since 

his move to California in 2014, Trevor has 

been mixing Lone Star twang, Windy City 

grit and West Coast sparkle to craft a

KENNY TAYLOR BAND 


Kenny Taylor is a Singer-Songwriter/Recording 

Artist from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Bringing his 

music to the West Coast over eight years ago, 

Kenny has been captivating audiences with his 

honest and infectious original music. The Kenny 

Taylor Band was formed in 2012 and includes 

Central California natives David Chock, Scott 

Conroy and Mr. Leigh Lossing.

CC WINE, VINEGAR & 

OLIVE OIL COMPETITION 

Central Coast Wine Competition 

The Central Coast Wine Competition is the largest evaluation event 

for wines produced exclusively from grapes grown in California’s Central 

Coast AVA and is hosted by six Central Coast fairs: the California 

Mid-State Fair, Contra Costa County Fair, Monterey County Fair, San 

Benito County Fair, the Santa Barbara County Fair, the Ventura County 

Fair and the Grand National Livestock Exposition, Horse Show and 

Rodeo. The 2016 competition features an internationally renowned 

panel of judges including wine writers, winemakers, sommeliers and 

wine buyers. Come see the winning wines, on display in Estrella Hall, 

open every day of the Fair! 

Central Coast Olive Oil Competition 

The Central Coast Olive Oil Competition features over 150 olive oils 

produced in California. The overall goal of the Central Coast Olive Oil 

Competition is to provide a venue for California olive oils to be professionally 

judged and to educate consumers regarding the quantity 

and styles of olive oil produced in California. Olive oils are divided into 

extra virgin, flavored extra virgin, organic extra virgin, and flavored 

organic extra virgin olive oil and are separated into classes by varietal. 

The panel of competition judges evaluates each entry according to 

aroma, taste, and intensity ranging from delicate to robust. Check out 

the display in Estrella Hall every day of the Fair!

California Craft Spirits Competition 

It’s up and going, CCWC’s newest competition… Craft Spirits. The 

industry is blowing up and we want to be a part of it! The purpose of 

this judging is to help promote the craft distillers that are producing 

the finest quality artisan spirits in California and to give participating 

distillers valuable feedback on the quality and process of their spirits.

ADA Accessibility 

ADA parking is available directly across the street from the Main 

Gate. Wheelchair accessible shuttle buses pick up passengers 

from any designated stop and run from 12:00pm - 1:00 am. The 

Main Grandstand Arena is accessible and has a seating area 

designated for wheelchairs. Wheelchairs and baby strollers are 

available for rent at the Main Entrance. 

Grandstand Ticket Booth 

Tickets for the show of the day may be purchased from 4:00 p.m. 

until approximately one hour after the concert begins, unless the 

concert is sold out. 

First Aid 

In case of injury, the First Aid Center is located near the South Gate 

entrance. There will be defibrillators stationed at various locations 

throughout the grounds.

a later time nor will it hold other tickets purchased to be
