Day 1: Arrival at Chennai Airport, check in at a hotel.<br />

Day 2: Today full day excursion <strong>of</strong> Kanchipuram &<br />
Mahabalipuram.<br />
This town is known for its various carved monuments<br />
and temples. The groups <strong>of</strong> monuments located here are<br />
the UNESCO World Heritage. It occupies a stunning<br />
position on a rocky outcrop between the beach and a<br />
lagoon. The town is built by the Pallava rulers in the<br />
seventh century, the <strong>co</strong>mplex <strong>co</strong>mprises <strong>of</strong> 14 cave<br />
temples, nine monolithic ” Rathas”, three stone temples<br />
and two relief sculptured rock panels and a Bass Relief<br />
and largest in the world. The Shore temple is built on the<br />
water’s edge with an east-facing alters designed to<br />
catch the rising sun, has now been declared a World<br />
Heritage Site. Overnight stay.
Day 3: After the breakfast drive for 1 hour and 50 minutes for Pondicherry.<br />
It is a union territory, and an enclave <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tamil</strong> <strong>Nadu</strong>, it was under the possession <strong>of</strong><br />
French India Company in the 17th century. First visit to Auroville is an ‘Ashram’ for<br />
peace and harmonious living, founded by saint-philosopher Sir Aurobindo. French<br />
War Memorial was built in the 1971 to <strong>co</strong>mmemorate the martyrs <strong>of</strong> the First World<br />
War.<br />
Afternoon take the delicious French dishes in the lunch and then go for Chuunambar<br />
beach.<br />

Day 4: Thanjavur rose to glory during the later Chola period between the 9th and<br />
14th centuries A.D. It also flourished later during the rule <strong>of</strong> the Nayaks and<br />
Mahrattas. Thanjavur is well-known throughout the world for being the home <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Brahadeeswara temple, the magnificent palace, Rajah Serfoji’s Saraswathi Mahal<br />
Library, Art Gallery and also for its exquisite handicrafts like the Art Plate, pithwork,<br />
bronze i<strong>co</strong>ns, Thanjavur paintings and the classical South Indian musical instruments.<br />
Brahadeeswarar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The great Chola king Raja Raja I<br />
built this temple. It is an outstanding example <strong>of</strong> the Chola architecture.
Its unique architectural excellence has made the UNESCO to declare it a World Heritage<br />
Monument. The 64.8 meters tall tower over the sanctum is a testimony to the<br />
engineering skill <strong>of</strong> the Cholas. In keeping the immensity <strong>of</strong> the temple the gigantic<br />
mahalingam in the shrine measures 4 meter in height. The monolithic Nandi bull<br />
mount <strong>of</strong> Lord Shiva has been chiselled out <strong>of</strong> a single rock. It is the se<strong>co</strong>nd largest<br />
Nandi in India. The beautiful Chola Fres<strong>co</strong> paintings on the inner walls <strong>of</strong> the temple<br />
are no way less than Ajanta paintings.<br />
The Palace Just 1 km. away from<br />
Brahadeeswarar Temple, is the magnificent<br />
palace. This palace is surrounded by huge<br />
fort walls. It dates 14th century A.D and<br />
was partly built by the Nayaks and partly by<br />
the Marathas. Even now the royal family <strong>of</strong><br />
the Marathas resides in this palace. It<br />
measures 110 acres in size. It is a grand<br />
pile <strong>of</strong> fascinating building with huge<br />
<strong>co</strong>rridors; spacious halls de<strong>co</strong>rated rooms,<br />
tall observation towers, beautiful stuc<strong>co</strong><br />
works, wonderful fres<strong>co</strong> painted walls and<br />
ceilings. Overnight stay.
Day 6: Today morning drive to Madurai enrooted Trichy for 58 kilometres.<br />
Trichy or Tiruchi also known as Tiruchirappalli, visit in two places the Rock Fort and<br />
Srirangam. The Rock Fort Ganapathi Temple is situated at on an 83 meter tall rock<br />
and the rock is the oldest rock in the world dating back to 3800 million years.<br />
Srirangam: The most important pilgrim centre in the district is located on an island<br />
just 7 kilometres from Tiruchirappalli. Srirangam surrounded by the waters <strong>of</strong> the<br />
River Kaveri on one side and its tributary the River Kollidam on the other. It is a 600-<br />
acre island-town enclosed within the seven walls <strong>of</strong> the gigantic Sri Ranganatha<br />
Swamy Temple. This is the seat <strong>of</strong> the pontiff <strong>of</strong> the Vaishnavite, who are the<br />
worshippers <strong>of</strong> Lord Vishnu.<br />

Day 7: After the breakfast, leaving for Madurai for 1<br />
hour and 56 minute. Early morning starts a<br />
sightseeing <strong>of</strong> the city first start your visit with Great<br />
Meenaskhi Temple dedicated to the <strong>co</strong>nsort <strong>of</strong> Lord<br />
Shiva with its towering Gopurams, rising high above<br />
the surrounding township. Later visit the Tirumala<br />
Nayak Palace – a gracious building in the Indo-<br />
Saracenic style, famous for the stuc<strong>co</strong> work on its<br />
domes and arches. Evening visit the temple once<br />
again to see the temple closing ceremony in which<br />
the idol <strong>of</strong> Lord Shiva is shifted in the temple <strong>of</strong><br />
Goddess Parvati. Overnight stay.<br />
