The mayor of Higham Ferrers
presented the first ever Mayor of
Higham Ferrers Award at the civic
reception at St Mary‘s Church in
April. Congratulations ladies!
1st Wootton Guides celebrate 5
BP awards. All the girls have now
gone on to to be Young Leaders.
Congratulations to Sophie Curtis for
achieving the Commonwealth Award and
having an innovative way of displaying
her work.
WHAT A WAY TO KICKSTART THE CELEBRATIONS!
For the 100 years celebration of our Senior Section, some of the advertising
photos Girlguiding are using have girls from our County in it!
They were taken at the Spark event at Ally Pally in February. In the number 1
of the ‗100‘ girls from Raunds and Rushden Senior Section are near the front.
There is also an advertisement for a Celebration Ball to be held in
Manchester later in the year, this has a fantastic close up of 3 of our girls.
Other photos of the girls and one of their leaders Sharon were also on the
Girlguiding Facebook page where they showed photos after the Spark event.
It was very exciting for the girls as they enjoyed Spark and appreciated the
time it took the photographer to get the photos.
They also enjoyed seeing themselves on Guiding material!

FROM THE COUNTY COMMISSIONER
At last the lighter nights are here with us which means lots
more opportunities for fun activities outside. Don‘t forget that
we are always looking for photos for the back pages of
unusual and interesting things that units do.
There will also be lots of camps and holidays taking place this
month and over the coming spring and summer months, so I
hope you have a fabulous adventure wherever you are
staying.
May is a busy month for us as a county with our county day next week for
leaders and young leaders, the monopoly challenge around London and our
annual AGM, amongst lots more.
If you still want to come along to county day, it should be a good social day,
spending time with other leaders, with fun activities too and also a wee bit of
learning – please contact the office asap.
Hopefully I will see and meet lots of you at these different events – really looking
forward to it.

have a ‗bring & buy‘ book stall and of course a raffle. All proceeds go towards
the upkeep of MacQueen House. Tickets must be ordered in advance, on a

Trefoil Trekkers will be meeting at The Old Swan, The Square, Earls Barton
NN6 ONA at 9.45 am on WEDNESDAY 11th MAY 2016. OS Explorer Map
224 Grid Ref: 825637 for a 4.6m walk over undulating countryside around
Earls Barton. Although there are no stiles there are 8 kissing gates in stocked
fields.

Steady, Cook Competition
8 th October 2016 11am – 4pm
Jubilee Campsite, Castle Ashby
Open to all guide units across the county, one team per unit
Teams of 4 Guides (Total age not to exceed 48 years)
All Food will be provided
Each team will need to provide the following items on the day:
2 ring calor gas stove or two single stoves with enough gas for the day, oven
gloves, bucket, frying pan, medium and large saucepan, chopping board,
mixing bowl, pot stand, wooden spoons, two sharp knives, vegetable peeler,
serving spoons, spatula, washing up bowl, dish cloth, scourer, small table,
gazeebo (for wet weather) Please advise as soon as possible if you cannot
provide any of the above.
Each girl will need to bring the following on the day:
Permission form, plate bag, apron, tea towel, drink, suitable footwear, sitter,
wet weather clothing, camp uniform including a jumper.
Each team will be required to cook a two course meal from the
ingredients provided. Cost per team is £16.00 which includes a badge
and certificate per person.

Ever Fancied Skiing?
Several people have expressed an interest in a skiing holiday.
So here goes.
One week in Slovenia probably leaving 21/01/2017 for a week,
Around £750 - £850 should cover all transport, half board accommodation in a
4star hotel with indoor pool, lift passes, ski hire and 2 hours of ski lessons, and
hopefully a hoodie and badge.
Beginners and experienced skiers welcome, (or even folk who would just like
to come and enjoy the scenery) a non refundable deposit of £200 will be needed
by June 17th to secure your place. There will be an information evening
on Mon 13th June at 7.30pm at the Unity Centre.

equipment and a collection of old Guide books up for grabs!

We finally opened a Rainbow Unit in
Weedon with 12 very excited and
eager Rainbows. An excellent start to
a great new future. Special thanks to
Bernadette Owens for volunteering
as a new leader and to Jane
Causebrook for bringing her camera
to our opening ceremony.

22nd Northampton Brownies enjoyed
a weekend visited to Pax lodge, to
take part in their 25th Birthday Bash.
1st Guilsborough Brownies took
time to celebrate with the Mission
Spectacular badge. The party
theme was the Rio Carnival.
