It seems almost unthinkable that Jagla will soon be knocking on the door of veteran status<br />
but the fresh-faced big-man still has plenty to prove at this level. He has had a mixed career<br />
both at club level and with Germany – superb and disappointing in almost equal measures.<br />
He played so-so at EuroBasket 2009 and his poor shooting percentages perhaps does not<br />
reflect his overall influence on the team and the fact he noticeably picked up his work-rate and<br />
rebounding. An experienced and mobile big man with skills, he likes to pop out and shoot the<br />
ball from the perimeter. A lot will depend on Jagla having a better shooting tournament than<br />
his last one. He is a really good offensive rebounder which is quite surprising given he likes to<br />
shoot from outside and so he needs to follow up shots to get rebounds which he often does in<br />
a great way. At club level he has had experience in the big leagues such as Spain and Turkey<br />
while last year he played in the Asseco Prokom team that did surprisingly well in EuroLeague.<br />
He has just not quite convinced at National Team level as he should – maybe now the time has<br />
arrived to really lead the frontcourt.<br />

Tim Ohlbrecht has unquestionable talent – indeed he was once viewed as the best of a new<br />
generation in German Basketball. However, the patience of many fans was perhaps beginning<br />
to wear a little thin until last summer, having looked to be in serious danger of not delivering<br />
on the promise he showed as a youth player and when he burst onto the scene at pro-level<br />
with Bamberg three years ago. However, during the 2009-10 season he has produced a much<br />
improved level of performance for club after moving to Bonn. Since, Ohlbrecht has looked<br />
more confident and finished the domestic campaign strongly and showed his full range of<br />
skills. Physically he has what it takes (highlighted by his shot blocking ability) and possesses<br />
an impressive array of skills. Now that he has also upped his work-rate and applied himself<br />
far better in the Bundesliga, he could finally be primed to take the next step at National Team<br />
level. He had a reasonable EuroBasket 2009 considering his mediocre season in Bamberg<br />
heading into the tournament and Turkey will be a big test to see how much he really has<br />
improved should he not be edged out by a rapidly improving Pleiss.<br />

Having been given only a handful of minutes at EuroBasket 2009, Pleiss has responded in<br />
fantastic style to remind Coach Bauermann just why he is rated as another top young prospect<br />
in German basketball. Has just landed a play-off winners medal with Brose Baskets Bamberg<br />
and his contribution of 8 points and 6 rebounds in 18 minutes was hugely important across<br />
the season for the Championship winners. Another jewel in the crown of a talent packed and<br />
young German frontcourt in years to <strong>com</strong>e, Pleiss has shown great maturity at club level<br />
and will hopefully now have gained a real taste for success. His mobility, smooth shot and<br />
rebounding capabilities are beginning to outshine his slender frame which sometimes sees<br />
him out-muscled on the court. This tournament might have <strong>com</strong>e a little too early to make<br />
any big impression but expect to see him oozing confidence after a breakthrough season –<br />
reflected by the fact he has been drafted by the Nets. A young player who is starting to learn<br />
how to impose himself down low.<br />

Jagla’nın yakın zamanda veteran statüsüne gireceğini düşünmek bile mümkün değilken,<br />
genç yüzlü oyuncunun kendini ispatlaması gereken birçok yön var. Kulüp ve milli takımlar<br />
anlamında oldukça karışık bir kariyere sahip olan oyuncunun, başarıları kadar hayal kırıklıkları<br />
da bulunuyor. EuroBasket 2009’da ortalamanın üzerine çıkamayan performansı ve düşük şut<br />
yüzdeleri, muhtemelen takımına yaptığı genel katkıyı ve belirgin bir şekilde gösterdiği çabayı<br />
ve ribaundlarını yansıtmıyor. Tecrübeli ve mobil oyuncu üçlük atışlarını da seviyor. Alman Milli<br />
Takımı’nda birçok şey, Jagla’nın bir önceki turnuvaya kıyasla daha iyi bir performans sergileyip<br />
daha iyi bir şut yüzdesine sahip olmasına bağlı olacak. Jagla, kulüpler bazında İspanya ve<br />
Türkiye gibi büyük liglerde oynamış ve aynı zamanda geçen sene Euroleague’de tahminlerin<br />
üzerinde bir başarı elde eden Asseco Prokom takımında da forma giydi. Alman Milli Takımı’nda<br />
kendini henüz kanıtlayamamış olan Jagla için belki de bu sene en doğru zaman olacak.<br />

Alman basketbolunda yeni jenerasyonun en iyi oyuncusu olarak da görülen Tim Ohlbrecht,<br />
kuşkusuz mükemmel bir yeteneğe sahip. Ancak, Alman taraftarların sabrı geçen<br />
yaz, Ohlbrecht’in 3 yıl önce Bamberg’de genç oyuncu olarak parlayan performansını<br />
gösteremeyince azaldı. Genç oyuncunun 2009-2010 sezonunda Bonn’a transferinden sonra<br />
performansında da gözle görülür bir artış oldu. Bunun sonrasında ise kendine güveni yenilenen<br />
Ohlbrecht görevini başarıyla tamamlayarak geniş yelpazedeki yeteneklerini gösterme fırsatı<br />
buldu. Ohlbrecht, fiziksel üstünlüğünün yanı sıra (özellikle blok yeteneği) etkileyici bir yetenek<br />
yelpazesine de sahip. Çalışma temposunu arttırıp, Bundesliga’da kendini üst seviyelere<br />
taşımış ve bunun neticesinde de bir sonraki kademe olan Milli Takım’a seçilmeyi başarmıştı.<br />
Bamberg’deki vasat performansı düşünüldüğünde Eurobasket’te fena bir oyun sergilememiş<br />
olan Ohlbrecht için Türkiye, kendini ne kadar geliştirdiğini göstermesi ve hızla gelişen Pleiss<br />
ile ne kadar süre paylaşacağını belirleyecek bir sınav olacak.<br />

Tibor Pleiss, EuroBasket’te çok kısa süreler almış olsa da, oyunda bulunduğu süre içerisinde<br />
mükemmel stiliyle antrenör Bauermann’a Almanya’nın en iyi genç oyuncularından biri<br />
olduğunu göstermiştir. Pleiss, Brose Baskets Bamberg ile play-off kazananı olarak takımına<br />
18 dakikada 8 sayı ve 6 ribaund ile çok önemli bir katkısı olmuştur. Uzun yıllar boyunca<br />
gündemde olması ve adından başarılarıyla söz ettirmesi beklenen genç yıldız Pleiss, kulüpler<br />
bazında gösterdiği başarıyı ve etkili oyununu uluslararası bir başarıyla tamamlama arzusunda.<br />
Hareketliliği, şut tekniği ve ribaundları bazen kendisinin sahada zayıf görülmesine sebep<br />
veren ince fiziğinin önüne geçmekte. 2010 <strong>FIBA</strong> Dünya Şampiyonası, Pleiss’in kendini büyük<br />
oranlarda kanıtlaması için erken bir turnuva olabilir ama geçirdiği başarılı sezonun ve NBA<br />
Nets takımı tarafından draft edilmesinin kendine verdiği güveni Türkiye’de yansıtacağı kesin.<br />
Pleiss, kendini sakinleştirmeyi ve yeteneklerini ortaya koymayı iyi bilen genç bir oyuncu.<br />
