His ability to rebound and drive to the basket from the post make Braa potentially a good
back-up player for the power forward position. Nevertheless, he can become fragile in crucial
moments. That was the case during the bronze medal game at the FIBA Africa Championship
last year against Cameroon when he was called for five fouls in just six minutes. From the
same generation as Mohamed Hdidane, he attended the Basketball Without Borders Africa
camp in 2004 and like his team-mate, he has not yet reached the top level.

It’s the first time that Tunisia has had a seven-footer on its roster. He is working to improve
year after year. His team-mates now have to now how to play with a real center. Coach Tlatli
is repeating that Salah has to understand that all the team is putting pressure on him because
of his 2.16m frame and he has to cope with it. Primarily, he must solve his foul problems. He
was given his first cap at the All Africa Games played in Algeria. He saw action in only one
of Tunisia’s five games, taking to the court against South Africa in the last game of the group
round. He recorded one basket and two fouls in six minutes in an 82-68 loss. In 2008, in
Sousse, the home court of Etoile Sportive Sahel, he played in the final round of the FIBA Africa
Club Championship. He captured the silver medal behind Angola’s best club of Primero de
Agosto. His 4.0 rebounds in 14 minutes was very promising. At the FIBA Africa Championship
in 2009, he confirmed the great hopes and showed good things with a record of 9 rebounds
against Mali in the quarter-final. Just before last summer’s FIBA Africa Championship, he
decided to sign a new contract with Etoile Sportive Sahel for three years.
Makrem BEN ROMDHANE

Career: Etoile Sportive Sahel (Tunisia-Nationale A, 2003-10).
He saw action in only three games at the 2009 FIBA Africa Championship. As a back-up of
Amine Rzig, he got just a handful of minutes during the competition. His defensive rebounding
is very impressive but he has not yet delivered on the great promise he showed two years ago.
He started in the First Division at just 15 years old with Etoile Sportive du Sahel, and was a
member of the starting five at 17. He captured his second national title last season.

jenerasyondan gelen Braa 2004’de Basketball Without Borders turnuvasının Afrika kampına
katıldı ve takım arkadaşı gibi üst seviyelere henüz ulaşamadı.

Tunus kadrosunda ilk defa 2.16’lık bir oyuncuyu barındırıyor. Oyuncu her geçen yıl daha da
gelişiyor. Takım arkadaşları gerçek bir pivot ile oynamanın ne demek olduğunu artık daha
iyi bilecekler. Antrenör Tlatli Salah’ın boyu nedeniyle tüm takımın ona bel bağladığını ve
bunu kabullenmesi gerektiğini tekrarlıyor. Ama öncelikle faul problemine bir çözüm bulmalı.
Cezayir’e karşı oynadıkları All Africa Games maçı bunların ilkiydi. Tunus’un beş maçından
sadece bir tanesinde, Güney Afrika’ya karşı mücadele ettikleri grup turlarının son maçında
oynayabildi. 82-68 kaybettikleri maçta tek basketi vardı ve altı dakikada iki faul yaptı. 2008
yılında, Etoile Sportive Sahel’in sahası Sousse’de FIBA Afrika Şampiyonası’nın final turunda
oynadı. Angola’nın en iyi kulübü Primero de Agosto’nun ardından gümüş madalyayı kazanarak
ikinci oldular. 14 dakika içinde aldığı 4 ribaunt ile gelecek vaat ediyordu. 2009 FIBA Afrika

2009 FIBA Afrika Şampiyonası’nda sadece üç maçta görev alabildi. Amine Rzig’in yedeği
olarak müsabaka boyunca sahada kendine çok fazla yer bulamadı. Savunma ribauntları çok
etkileyici olmakla beraber iki yıl önce gösterdiği performans sonucu kendisinden beklenenleri
tam anlamıyla yerine getiremedi. Henüz 15 yaşındayken Etoile Sportive du Sahel ile Birnci
Lige adım attı ve 17 yaşında ilk beşte yer almaya başlamıştı. İkinci milli şampiyonluğuna ise
geçen yıl kavuştu.
