Novica Velickovic is the prototype modern power forward. He can play either inside or outside
the paint and has a very nice shooting touch from outside the arc. He can also handle the
ball and is a great passer. He quickly developed as one of the leaders of the new Serbian
generation. He revealed himself with Partizan Belgrade and earned the Euroleague Rising
Star award in 2008-09. His talent and his intensity seduced Ettore Messina and Velickovic
moved to Real Madrid last summer. He had a difficult first season with the Spanish powerhouse
but he is still expected to be a major force for Serbia at the 2010 FIBA World Championship.

Like many players in the Serbian National Team, Dusko Savanovic grew up with FMP Zeleznik
Belgrade. In 2006, he left Serbia to play with UNICS Kazan. He rose to prominence with the
Russian team in the Eurocup and then he had another breakthrough season in 2009-2010
with Cajasol Sevilla, averaging 14.7 points and 4.8 rebounds in the Liga ACB. Next season,
he will play with Valencia and will make his debut in the Euroleague. He may also play his first
major international competition this summer with the Serbian National Team. Savanovic is an
all-around player that has the size to play inside and also the skills to play outside. He is a good
ball handler and he is able to shoot from behind the arc. He is also very athletic and that allows
him to be an effective rebounder.

Milan Macvan is already a world champion after earning a gold medal with Serbia at the FIBA U19
World Championship on home soil in 2007. This summer, he will play his second FIBA competition
with the senior national team to get a second world champion title. Milan Macvan was born in
Vukovar, in Croatia. Like Milos Teodosic and a lot of other talented Serbian players, he started his
career with FMP Zeleznik. But even before playing for the senior team of Zeleznik, he revealed
himself with the junior national team. In 2007, he earned two gold medals both at the FIBA U19
World Championship and the U18 European Championship, establishing himself as the leader of
both teams. With the U18 Serbian National Team, he averaged 19.3 points and 10.3 rebounds.
He quickly showed that he is a true competitor with a fighting spirit and a lot of charisma. He also
draws comparisons with his glorious elder Zoran Savic as an undersized inside player. He is also
a very good long distance shooter. On November 2007, he moved to KK Hemofarm Vrsac where
he had the opportunity to get an important role with the first team. At 19, he was already averaging
11.3 points and 4.2 rebounds in the Eurocup and displaying his talent all over Europe. In 2008,
he won the gold medal with Serbia at the U20 European Championship in Riga. In 2009, he was
selected to the Nike Hoop Summit and he led the international team to victory over the USA. He
earned the MVP title of the game with 23 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists. Last summer, he
debuted with the senior national team and helped Serbia to win the silver medal at the EuroBasket
2009 although he averaged only 2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds. He is expected to assume a bigger
role this summer at the FIBA World Championship in Turkey. Then he will probably leave Vrsac to
play in the Euroleague before maybe even joining the NBA.

Sırp Milli Takımı’ndaki bir çok oyuncu gibi Dusko Savanovic FMP Zeleznik Belgrade takımında
yetişti. UNICS Kazan’da oynamak için 2006’da Sırbistan’dan ayrıldı. Eurocup’da Rus takımıyla
üne kavuştu ve sonra Liga ACB’de 14.7 sayı ve 4.8 ribaunt ortalaması yaptığı Caiasol Sevilla’da
2009-2010’da sezon süresince sahaya çıkmadı. Gelecek sezon Valencia’da oynayacak
ve Eurolig’deki ilk sahnesine çıkacak. Bu yaz Sırp Milli Takımı’nda ilk büyük uluslararası
turnuvasında oynayabilir. Savanovic içerde oynamak için uygun bir vücut yapısına ve dışarıda

Milan Macvan 2007’de kendi evinde FIBA U19 Dünya Şampiyonası’nda Sırbistan takımıyla
altın madalya kazanmasının ardından zaten bir dünya şampiyonu olmuştu. Bu yaz, ikinci FIBA
turnuvasında, ikinci bir şampiyonluk elde edebilmek için A Milli Takım’da oynayacak. Milan
Macvan Hırvatistan’da Vukovar’da doğdu. Milos Teodosic ve diğer birçok yetenekli Sırp oyuncular
gibi kariyerine FMP Zeleznik’de başladı. Zeleznik’in profesyonel takımında oynamadan önce
bile genç milli takımda kendini gösterdi. 2007’de FIBA U19 Dünya Şampiyonası ve U18 Avrupa
Şampiyonası’nda iki altın madalya kazandı ve kendisini her iki takımın da lider oyuncusu olarak

karizmasıyla gerçek bir rakip olduğunu çok çabuk gösterdi. Normalden daha küçük saha içi
oyuncusu olarak kendisinden daha yaşlı ünlü Zoran Savic’le benzerlikler gösteriyor. Aynı zamanda
iyi bir uzun mesafe atıcısı. 2007 Kasım ayında ilk takımda kendine önemli bir yer kazanma
şansına sahip olduğu KK Hemofarm Vrsac’a gitti. 19 yaşındayken Eurocup’da 11.3 sayı ve 4.2
ribaunt ortalaması yapıyordu ve tüm Avrupa’ya yeteneğini göstermekle meşguldü. 2008 yılında
Riga’daki U20 Avrupa Şampiyonası’nda Sırbistan takımıyla şampiyonluk kazandı. 2009’da Nike
Hoop Summit’e seçildi ve uluslararası takımı ABD’de zafere götürdü. 23 sayı, 14 ribaunt ve 6
asistle maçın MVP’si oldu. Macvan geçen yaz milli takımda forma giydi ve 2.8 sayı ve 1.9 ribaunt
ortalaması yapmasına rağmen Sırbistan’ın 2009 FIBA Avrupa Şampiyonası’nda gümüş madalya
kazanmasına yardım etti. Bu yaz Türkiye’deki FIBA Dünya Şampiyonası’nda daha büyük bir
başarı göstermesi bekleniyor. Belki daha sonra, NBA’e bile katılmadan önce, Eurolig’de oynamak
için Vrsac takımından ayrılabilir.
