Once a total unknown in Lithuania, Arvydas Eitutavicius has fully blossomed only in the
last two seasons and has finally been given a look by the national team coaches. After a
successful year with his hometown club Neptunas Klaipeda a year ago, the combo-guard
moved to French Pro A side Cholet Basket and went all the way to the gold medals in the
domestic championship during his first season in France. Eitutavicius has a deadly touch from
downtown and can handle the ball comfortably unlike the majority of Lithuania’s FIBA World
Championship squad. The guard, who played in the lower Spanish divisions two seasons
back, will now most likely be the back-up point guard to Mantas Kalnietis in the game plan of
coach Kestutis Kemzura.

Despite changing clubs like socks during last season, Tomas Delininkaitis did leave a bigger mark
in European basketball than he would have playing in Ukraine as he did a couple of seasons
ago. Yet another combo-guard in the Lithuanian national team, but Delininkaitis admits that he
feels better playing shooting guard and always makes this heard. The best way to describe him
would be calling the guard a lethal threat from three-point land with some point guard skills and
decent driving abilities. The player started the season with Murcia in Spain but finished the year
with PAOK Thessaloniki after leaving the Spanish club during February. Despite a so-so season
statistically, he will be useful for the national squad due to his ability to play some time at the one
and provide the fans with a casual rain of long-range shots here and there.

Litvanya’da Arvydas Eitutavicius’la ilgili hiç bir şey bilinmezken geçtiğimiz iki sezonda
tamamen serpildi ve sonunda milli takım antrenörlerinin dikkatini çekmeyi başardı. Combo
Guardı kendi ülkesindeki takımı Neptunas Klaipeda’da başarılı bir yılın ardından Fransız
Pro A’daki Cholet Basket takımı saflarına geçti ve Fransa’da geçirdiği ilk sezonunda yerel
şampiyonada altın madalyaların sahibi oldu. Eitutavicius potaya uzak mesafelerdeki atışlarda
oldukça başarılı ve Litvanya’nın FIBA Dünya Şampiyonası kadrosundaki oyuncularının aksine
rahatlıkla topa hakim olabiliyor. Geçtiğimiz iki sezon daha alt seviyelerdeki İspanyol liglerinde
oynamış olan oyun kurucu şimdi ise antrenör Kestutis Kemzura’nın oyun planına göre Mantas
Kalnietis’e destek oyun kurucusu olarak forma giyecek.

Tomas Delininkaitis geçen sezon adeta çorap değiştirir gibi kulüp değiştirmesine rağmen,
birkaç sezon önce de yaptığı gibi Avrupa basketboluna Ukrayna’daki performansından
daha derin izler bıraktı. Litvanya milli takımındaki başka bir combo Guarddan sadece biri
olan Delininkaitis şutör Guard olarak daha iyi iş çıkardığını kabul ediyor. Delininkaitis’i oyun
kuruculuk yeteneği ve uygun top sürme becerisiyle üçlük bölgesindeki ölümcül tehdit olarak
tanımlamak çok doğru olur. Sezona İspanya’nın Murcia takımıyla başladı ve Şubat ayında
İspanyol kulüpten ayrılarak bu yılı PAOK Thessaloniki takımıyla kapattı. Delininkaitis, sayısal
olarak pek de iyi geçmeyen bir sezona rağmen uzun mesafeli atışlarıyla hayranlarının yüzünü
güldürmesiyle milli takım kadrosuna yararlı bir oyuncu olacağa benziyor.

There isn’t one thing in particular that Mindaugas Lukauskis could claim to be top-class
at – he’s a very decent shooter, good defender and an above-average athlete. However,
Mindaugas will be the glue-guy in the National Team just as he was in Asvel Villeurbanne
this season or in Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius earlier in his career. Lukauskis could very well fit the
role of a sixth-man if he gets his act together after a mediocre season in the French Pro A,
where he didn’t fit in with the run-and-gun style of the league. The player will be one of the
more experienced in the team and that might be his advantage in the battle for court time
as well as the ability to play both at the shooting guard and small forward spot where he is
equally effective.
