Ali Kanaan made his debut for the National Team at the <strong>FIBA</strong> Asia Championship last year<br />
and made a hugely positive impression. Despite playing less than 10 minutes per game, he<br />
still was able to showcase his talent and underline why he could play a much bigger role for<br />
Lebanon in the future. He has good physical attributes and is a terrific rebounder. In fact, he<br />
averaged a rebound every three minutes in last’s year championship and this time everyone<br />
is expecting him to be given even more responsibility under Coach Baldwin. He is good<br />
defensively and could be a real man to watch in this tournament.<br />

Freije enjoyed a superb <strong>FIBA</strong> Asia Championship last year scoring double-digits in eight of his<br />
nine games. He was the best shooter on the team and there is now much debate about whether<br />
he would be even more effective in the small forward slot and playing the three. Much of that is<br />
down to the shooting ability he has shown for both club and country and having to play in the<br />
forward spot could be wasting his excellent range – although he is able to create space by taking<br />
his man to the perimeter. Additionally he is not the biggest physically to be battling with taller<br />
and stronger opponents in the paint at the <strong>FIBA</strong> World Championship. It’s a puzzle that Coach<br />
Baldwin will have to solve although whether he plays the three or the four spot, expect Freije<br />
to be <strong>com</strong>peting for the mantle of top Lebanese player in this tournament and definitely most<br />
accurate shooter – despite his relative inexperience on this World stage.<br />

The small forward is unlikely to find any significant court-time although if he does make the final<br />
cut, he will provide some good defence which is very much the trademark aspect of his game. He<br />
has been getting better with every season in the Domestic league and during his fourth season<br />
with Moutahed, he just missed out on a double-digit average for the season. He still has a lot of<br />
promise and remains inexperienced at National Team level although if he is handed his opportunity<br />
he will take it with both hands. A good rebounder and with an eye for a pass, Roustom has plenty<br />
to offer Coach Baldwin, if and when called upon.<br />

olumlu bir izlenim bıraktı. Oyun başına 10 dakikadan az oynamasına rağmen yeteneklerini<br />
sergileme imkanı buldu ve gelecekte Lübnan için neler yapabileceğinin sinyallerini de vermiş<br />
oldu. Fiziksel özellikleri oldukça iyi ribauntları da çok sağlam. Aslında, geçen yılki şampiyonada<br />
her üç dakikada bir ribaunt ortalamasına ulaştı ve bu sefer antrenör Baldwin’in ona daha fazla<br />
sorumluluk vermesi bekleniyor. Savunma alanında da oldukça iyi ve turnuvada izlemesi zevkli<br />

olacağına dair yaygın bir kanı vardı. Tüm bunlar hem kulübünde hem de ülkesinde gösterdiği<br />
şutörlük yeteneğinden kaynaklanıyordu ve herkes onun forvet pozisyonunda harcanacağını<br />
düşünüyordu. Fakat Dünya Şampiyonası’nda, boyalı alanda daha uzun ve güçlü rakipleriyle<br />
rekabet edebilecek fiziksel özelliklere sahip değil. Freije’yi hangi pozisyonlarda oynatacağı<br />
