Isibindi Community Programme and Kuselo
CYCC to host Child Protection week
THE Isibindi Community Programme
has partnered with
Kuselo Child and Youth Care
Centre (Kuselo CYCC) to
host a range of events and
activities for child protection
week scheduled for between
the 27th May 2016 to 3rd
June 2016.
During this week many children
will be counselled, take
part in various programmes
such as special doll, rape and
trauma therapy, drug and
substance abuse as well as
play therapy activities.
'It is our view that through
play more constructive and
collective backgrounds into
pertinent information can be
retrieved from the child as
they are relaxed and do not
feel pressured for information,'
said Kuselo CYCC
director Amanda Coetzee.
'This gives the children free
time to open up and voice
their abuse experiences
through mutual trust.'
Extensive family counselling
and family re-unification programmes
will also take place
as well as family orientation
and early intervention sessions
with families will be
conducted.
'In doing this, it could possible
save a child from violence
and abuse, as the circle of
abuse often starts at home,
escalating into child abuse,
from the abused child it then
escalates into drug and
substance abuse, this leave
the child vulnerable to sexual
molestation and rape.
'The end result in some cases
– is suicide.
'It is a sad reality that abuse
in all forms, especially child
abuse is on the rise in the
Border Region,' said Coetzee.
'We ask that persons attend
our opening day for child
protection week and offer any
assistance to ensure that the
child benefit from our services.'
event is held:
