Camp Frevisören
Camp Frevisören is located just outside of Båtskärnäs in Kalix
municipality. This seaside camping site has 40 cabins as well as
a couple of hundreds of caravan pitches. What you’ll love the
most is the proximity to both sea and stunning nature. With activities
for all ages, all the family will thoroughly enjoy their stay
here. The scent of freshly baked bread and a pleasant holiday
atmosphere is apparent amongst the caravans, campers and
the cabins. While the children are playing miniature golf, enjoying
the water slide or building sand castles on the beach, there’s
plenty of time for you to treat yourself to peaceful moments and
excellent cuisine in the restaurant – sea view included.

Kalix Camping
Located close to central Kalix right by the Kalix River, Kalix Camping
offers a wonderful summer retreat with a mix of camping
life, activities, shops and restaurants serving local cuisine. You’ll
find most facilities within walking distance. Why not head down
to the pier for some fishing or enjoy the serenity of the midnight
sun on the terrace? In addition, next to Kalix Camping you’ll find
Strandängsbadet with heated swimming pools and a track for
miniature quad bikes.

An adventure on rail
You can almost feel a tingling sensation in your body when you start riding
the trolley on the disused railway Haparandabanan, filled with history.
Although the trolley weights 60 kg, it is actually easier to ride than a bicycle
- it moves very smoothly along the railway!
Haparandabanan starts in Morjärv and ends in Haparanda. If you want to
you can pedal all the way, ninety striking kilometres, or opt for a shorter
distance. The trolleys are based by the station in Vitvattnet and the path
features forests, bridges, lakes and swamps - not a rare sight in these part
of the woods. Bring a picnic basket or why not make a stop at one of the
restaurants to enjoy lunch or perhaps a cup of coffee and start the railway
journey with your family!

of Överkalix along the E10. Guided
moose tours can be booked in advance.

Tractor museum
Are you interested in tractors? If yes, look no further. In
Svartbyn, Överkalix, you can find Sweden’s northernmost
tractor museum with the district’s entire tractor history
gathered in one place. There are about 30 different tractor
models, some of which are real rarities; including John
Deere, Case och Oliver. The oldest one is a John Deere BR
from 1934. If you want to know more, Holger is the person
to ask. One thing is for sure - there’s much to discover!

Listen to the military history
Do you want to feel like a military for a day? Visit
Siknäsfortet in Töre, at the top of Bothnian Bay. Book a
guided tour to hear all about the exciting stories of the
preparation for war and the so-called Kalix Line. This is
an informative tour suitable for the whole family.
