Calling
Jonathan is married to Myrna. They have two boys, Peniel and Jonatán.
He became a follower of Christ when he was 16 years old. Since then
he began to serve, working on different church ministries, with a
special passion for evangelism.
They planted a church in the South side of Puerto Rico in 2008. After 4
years the Lord transitioned them to a ministry dedicated to
strengthening the leadership of the church in the island. After working
with this ministry for around 3

Lord stirring their hearts

planting, and so they began
to pray for God’s will.
The Lord connected them
with Red 1:8, a Hispanic
church planting ministry
based in Oklahoma City.
They learned about the
growing Hispanic population
and the lack of gospel
centered churches for this
group in the city of Colorado
Springs. After doing a trip to the city, they felt the Lord calling them to
partner with Garden Ranch Baptist Church, which had been praying for
a Hispanic ministry in their area for 5 year because of the growing
Hispanic population.
Jonathan and his family moved from Puerto Rico to Colorado Springs
in June of 2015. Since then they have begun to engage the Hispanic
community. Every day the Lord has confirmed their calling and passion
for these beautiful and diverse people groups.

City
Colorado Springs is located
on the East side of the Rocky
Mountains and is a city full of
natural splendor, like the
garden of the gods and pikes peak, which stands at 14,110 feet at just
10 miles west from the center of the city. Truly breathtaking!
Many think that the city is a
christian mecca, because of
different known international
christian ministries who have
there headquarters in it. But as
you walk among the city you
can see how much ignorance
of Jesus prevails. Here people
worship many gods, like
nature, self-comfort and
money, but they do not know
the one true God. Among these people who do not know
Christ you can find the Hispanic community.
Among the 645,000 habitants in the city there is a Hispanic community
of 95,000 that is thriving and growing. And in the 2 mile radius where
Iglesia Gracia y Verdad
will be established there

Hispanics, equivalent to
approximately 1,500
households, of which
the majority do not
h a v e a p e r s o n a l
relationship with Christ.

Why a Hispanic Church?
When we say “Hispanic” what usually comes to mind is the small section
on the grocery aisle or some tacos and guacamole. The truth is that
Hispanics come here from more than 20 countries, most of them trying to
achieve the so called “American Dream”.
They have left behind their families, their country, everything they know
and love, assuming great risks in order to look for a "better life" that may
allow them to provide for themselves and sometimes their family back at
home. While they do their best to adapt, cultural and language barriers
makes it difficult to live in their new home. In addition, the cost of
l i v i n g a n d f a m i l y
needs often means
taking on multiple
jobs to make ends
meet.
Over time, a sense of
frustration overpowers
their hopeful dream of
a new life in America.
T h i s f r u s t r a t i o n ,
hopelessness, and
s t r u g g l e t o f i n d
acceptance opens a
significant door for the gospel. In Christ, we have something infinitely
better than the "American Dream." We have all our deepest needs
fulfilled.
Iglesia Gracia y Verdad will take the Gospel to the Hispanic community of
Colorado Springs by serving them so they can experience the love of
Jesus. Gracia y Verdad will walk with them through their longing for
“something better” and point them to Jesus as the only source of ultimate
satisfaction, showing them that nothing in this world can truly satisfy us
but Him.
