ADHD & Diet
Can what you eat help attention, focus, or
hyperactivity? There’s no clear scientific evidence
that ADHD is caused by diet or nutritional problems.
But, certain foods may play at least some role in
affecting symptoms in a small group of people,
research suggests. So are there certain things you
shouldn’t eat if you have the condition? Or if your
child has it, should you change what he or she eats?
Come and join ADHD Specialist and Certified Life
Shaking Things Up With Shakespeare
Kids think they don’t like Shakespeare because it’s too hard to understand, but it’s
time to Shake Things Up With Shakespeare and have them experience Shakespeare
in a fun, engaging, and memorable way. This enrichment camp will take kids on virtual
tours of the Globe and various spots and times in London. Campers will build their own
Globe, jam out to iambic pentameter rap music, dress up in Elizabethan costumes
and use swords and silly props. Kids will delight in acting out scenes from well-known
plays on stage, and then watch movie clips to see how some of their favorite movies
and plays are really adaptations from Will, himself! Finally, kids will love writing their
own scripts, fashioned after our new good buddy, Will. Students will have the chance
to direct and produce their new camp friends as they watch their script come to life
before them. There’s nothing scary about William Shakespeare when you shake things
up a bit and have a little fun! That is just how he would’ve liked it!
ACT/SAT Coaching
Home Tutoring Solutions also offers a 10-week, individually
focused, one-on-one ACT or SAT test preparation program that
allows the student the flexibility to schedule sessions around their
busy school/activity/work schedules. The student will meet with
a coach once a week, and will be assigned independent-study
practice problems to work on the week before each session.
This in-depth program will help coach your student to be well
prepared for both the strategy and subject material in either
the ACT or SAT. The cost for this program is $655.00 for 10 weeks,
and will be scheduled on an individual basis. Other customlength
programs for test preparation and general tutoring
can be set up at any time during the school year or over the
summer. The sessions for all one-on-one educational coaching
can be held at the student’s home (slightly higher rate), or at
ACT/SAT Group Classes
Home Tutoring Solutions will offer ACT and
SAT classes this summer. The classes are one
week, and each covers one of the tests. Each
class is offered in June, July and August. The
classes will explain strategies for preparing
for and taking the tests. After each class,
the student should have a clear idea of how
the test is structured, and how to maximize
their scores. We will cover content material,
pacing, and strategies. The classes will be
ideal for students who will be juniors next fall,
and who want to get a jump start on the
ACT and SAT test preparation process. These
classes are not intended to be a complete
preparation for these tests, but rather a solid
foundation for those starting the process. We
recommend additional study and practice
for those just starting to prepare for the tests.
The classes can also serve as a refresher class
for students who will be seniors next fall, and
want to take the tests one more time before
college applications. All classes will be held
at Chagrin Falls High School.
