Much of this landscape has been shaped by its industrial past and a number of old mills and mill workers’ cottages still remain. The valley sides support large tracts of ancient semi-natural broad-leaved woodland and there are many tranquil riverside spots to enjoy a walk, picnic or the peace and quiet. 12 www.nidderdaleaonb.org.uk Lower Nidderdale © EM Visit Nidderdale AONB 2016 13
