Dr. Patricia Joseph was appointed interim provost and<br />

vice president of Academic Affairs effective January 1.<br />

Joseph, an undergraduate human services professor, was<br />

serving as dean of the College of Professional, Graduate<br />

and Extended Studies.<br />

“I take a great deal of pride in my long term association<br />

with and contributions to Lincoln University,” says<br />

Joseph.” “It’s unique place in history and the important<br />

role that it plays in preparing students of distinction is<br />

never lost on me. I’m pleased to serve in this capacity.”<br />

She joined the sociology teaching staff at Lincoln<br />

University in 1985. Joseph served as chair of the<br />

Department of Sociology and Anthropology from 2001<br />

through 2010 and as co-chair of the Middle States Self-<br />

Study Committee. In her many years of service to the<br />

university, she has served as Pre-Law advisor and First<br />

Year Experience coordinator. She has been successful<br />

in securing and implementing research grants that have<br />

also benefitted many student interns. In addition, she<br />

has performed important service on key faculty standing<br />

committees as well as local social service agencies.<br />

She earned a bachelor’s in social science from Cheyney<br />

University, a Master of Social Service and Ph.D. in<br />

Social Work and Social Research from the Bryn Mawr<br />

College School of Social Work and Research. Joseph is<br />

held in high regard by students and colleagues.<br />

Kevan Turman ’01, MSR ’08 was named interim<br />

vice president of Institutional Advancement effective<br />

January 1. Turman, who had recently been named to the<br />

newly created associate vice president of development,<br />

replaces Peter Caputo, who served in an interim capacity<br />

since July 2014.<br />

“I am at a very interesting point in my career,” says<br />

Turman. “Lincoln is a part of me in so many ways,<br />

and I am thrilled to join the leadership team. I<br />

remain committed to growing both the endowment<br />

and the Lincoln Fund while continuing to work<br />

toward strengthening our corporate and foundation<br />

relationships. My various stints here at Lincoln have<br />

all been about one thing: service. How we serve our<br />

students, alumni, faculty, administrators and friends<br />

today determines our future.”<br />

Previously, he served as campaign manager for the<br />

university’s Students First Campaign. In addition, he<br />

has served as special assistant for the president and was<br />

the director of development at Grambling University<br />

in Grambling, Louisiana, before returning to Lincoln<br />

in 2012. Turman also held prior positions as director of<br />

the Annual Fund at Wiley College in Marshall, Texas,<br />

associate director of Alumni Clubs and Young Alumni<br />

Programs at the University of Delaware and director of<br />

Alumni Relations at Lincoln.<br />
