Few people have had such a varied and<br />
inspiring professional career as Joe <strong>Epstein</strong>:<br />
surgeon, emergency physician, College<br />
president, academic mentor, agent provocateur,<br />
philosopher, politician, photographic historian<br />
and raconteur, to name but a few of his guises.<br />
Emergency medicine flows through Joe’s veins.<br />
His passion and energy for emergency medicine<br />
as a speciality for doctors and nurses and his<br />
care and advocacy for his patients are second to<br />
none. These will not change with ‘retirement’;<br />
they’ll just take on a different perspective.<br />
This book brings together recollections<br />
about his wonderful career from some of the<br />
people Joe’s professional life has touched.<br />
The diversity of the stories and of the<br />
contributors say a lot about the high esteem<br />
in which Joe is held by many, many people<br />
from across disciples and around the world.<br />
