2 engines to flak over
France Jul 4, 1944. When third engine
began to lose power,
bellylanded in field at Felpham,
England. Aircraft ended up
in back garden of No 18 Downview Road
with wingtip within six
feet of back door of house. Two crew
members had been slightly
injured. Pilot took tea with the lady
of the house. 25 years
later to the day (Jul 4, 1969) he
returned to take tea with her
again.
