forced landing in neutral Ireland (due to<br />

navigational errors) could have been<br />

very embarrassing as the aircraft was<br />

carrying Lt Gen Jacob Devers and his<br />

staff who were on a fact-finding tour of the ETO!<br />

The Irish authorities should, by<br />

international law, have interned them;<br />

instead, they were treated to an<br />

impromptu banquet and transported to the<br />

border with Northern Ireland!<br />

9051 (482nd BG, 813rd BS) crashed into SW<br />

side of Skiddaw Mountain<br />

in England Sep 14, 1943 on navigational<br />

training mission. All 10<br />

aboard killed.<br />
