Throughout our Evans Halshaw and Stratstone dealerships,<br />

recognising and rewarding the achievements of our teams<br />

is really important to us. With this in mind, I would like to<br />

personally welcome you to the <strong>Paris</strong> <strong>Experience</strong> 2016.<br />

This is the fourth time we’ve held an event like this, and we’ve<br />

made sure you’re in for an amazing experience. Enjoy your<br />

time at the luxurious Renaissance Hotel in London on Friday<br />

10th June, where you will be treated to a drinks reception and<br />

an evening meal, before moving onto the main attraction the<br />

following morning. On Saturday, you’ll board the Eurostar<br />

train from St Pancras International travelling directly to <strong>Paris</strong>.<br />

There, you will stay at 9Hotel Republique, a four-star boutique<br />

hotel located in the heart of the beautiful French capital.<br />

From the hotel, you are just a short stroll from many of the<br />

city’s main attractions such as the Musee des Arts et Metiers.<br />

I’m delighted you’ve been able to join us, and I hope you all<br />

from £50 a day or alternatively off-site<br />

parking has a daily fee of £36.<br />

Your tickets will be given to you upon<br />

arrival at the Renaissance.<br />

TRAVEL DOCUMENTATION<br />

In order to travel, you and your guest<br />

will both need to hold valid and current<br />

passports with the appropriate length<br />

of time remaining on the passport. We<br />

also recommend taking a valid European<br />

Health Card with you. Team members are<br />

covered under group insurance but guests<br />

will need to organise their own travel<br />

insurance.<br />

BAGGAGE<br />

There is no luggage weight restriction<br />

on Eurostar – you just have to be able to<br />

carry your own bags onto the train. You<br />

are allowed to take two pieces of luggage<br />

(up to 85cm long) and one piece of hand<br />

luggage.

MUSEE D’ORSAY<br />

Internationally renowned for its rich collection<br />

of impressionist art, the Musee d’Orsay<br />

also displays all western artistic creation<br />

between 1848 and 1914. Its collections<br />

represent all expressive forms, from painting<br />

to architecture, not forgetting sculpting,<br />

decorative arts and photography. You’re sure<br />

to be dazzled by the beauty of the place: a<br />

palace-like station, launched for the 1900<br />

Universal Exposition.<br />

LA TOUR EIFFEL<br />

A not-to-be-missed monument and symbol<br />

of the capital, the Eiffel Tower stands 324m<br />

tall, and weighs 10,100 tons. Created in 2<br />

years, 2 months and 5 days, it was built for<br />

the Exposition Universelle of 1889. You can<br />

go up the Eiffel Tower by stairs or by lift. On<br />

the 1st floor discover completely refurbished<br />

shops and on the 2nd floor treat yourself to a<br />

gastronomic meal at the famous Jules Verne<br />

restaurant, 125 metres above ground. Finally,<br />

on the 3rd floor you are at cloud level and<br />

have an exception 360-degree view!<br />

MUSEE DU LOUVRE<br />

The Louvre Museum, former residence of<br />

the kings of France, has for two centuries<br />

been one of the biggest museums in the<br />

world. Its collections are spread over eight<br />

departments: near eastern antiquities, Islamic<br />

art, Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan and Roman<br />

antiquities, paintings, sculptures, decorative<br />

arts, prints and drawings dating from the<br />

Middle Ages to 1848.<br />

PARIS SIGHTS<br />

NOTRE DAME DE PARIS<br />

The cathedral Notre-Dame de <strong>Paris</strong>, a<br />

masterpiece of Gothic architecture, Is the<br />

most visited monument in France. It was<br />

built in the Middle Ages, at the far end of<br />

the Ile de la Cite. Its many visitors come to<br />

admire it stained glass and rose windows, the<br />

towers, the steeple and the gargoyles. They<br />

can also discover the Notre Dame treasury<br />

ad have a go at climbing the towers to enjoy<br />

a panoramic view of <strong>Paris</strong>. On the cathedrals<br />

parvis, a bronze star inscribed ‘zero kilometre’<br />

indicates the centre of the country in terms of<br />

road distances.<br />

ILE SAINT-LOUIS<br />

Ile Saint-Louis is the smaller of the two<br />

islands in the centre of <strong>Paris</strong>. It is located in<br />

the historical centre of the city and is a great<br />

place for a walk full of surprises. Stroll along<br />

the main road, Rue Saint-Louis en I’ile, or go<br />

around the island along the quays. Visitors<br />

can admire the numerous former private<br />

mansion houses from the 17th and 18th<br />

centuries. Foodies will love the delicious ice<br />

cream at Berthillon<br />

CATACOMBS OF PARIS<br />

This <strong>Paris</strong>ian ossuary, covering 11,000m2 of<br />

underground space is called the Catacombes<br />

in reference to the Catacombs of Rome.<br />

Visitors can access the Catacombes from<br />

Place Denfert-Rochereau. Six million bones<br />

from various <strong>Paris</strong>ian cemeteries rest in the<br />

1.7km labyrinth of tunnels.<br />

PARIS SIGHTS<br />

ARC DE TRIOMPHE<br />

Situated at the Place de L’Etoile, overlooking<br />

the Champs-Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe<br />

is the biggest arch in the world. It was<br />

commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to<br />

celebrate his victory at Austerlitz. Beneath<br />

the arch is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier,<br />

and each evening at 6.30pm its flame is<br />

rekindled. From the top of the monument,<br />

visitors benefit from a panoramic view of<br />

<strong>Paris</strong>, during the day and at night. A museum<br />

retracing the history of the Arc de Triomphe,<br />

situated within the structure, completes the<br />

visit.<br />

JARDIN DU LUXEMBOURG<br />

Situated on the border between Saint-<br />

Germain-des-Pres and the Latin Quarter, the<br />

Luxembourg and Gardens, inspired by the<br />

Boboli Gardens in Florence, were created<br />

upon the initiative of Queen Mare de Medici in<br />

1612. The gardens, which cover 25 hectares of<br />

land, are split into French gardens and English<br />

gardens. Between the two, lies a geometric<br />

forest and a large pond. There is also an<br />

orchard with a variety of old and forgotten<br />

apples, an apiary for you to learn about beekeeping<br />

and greenhouses with a collection of<br />

breathtaking orchids and a rose garden.<br />
