A WARM WELCOME
FROM THE RACE DIRECTOR
AND THE CREW
RD: Alen Paliska
Mail: director@istria100.com
Company Sport Box along with the sport club SRK Alba and
their partners, organize from 15 to 17 April 2016 the 4 th
edition of 100 Miles of Istria, ultra trail race across the Istrian
peninsula. As the director of the event, it is a great pleasure to
welcome all who wish to participate in this trail running event. In
the previous edition, 700 athletes from 30 different nationalities
participated, which made us very happy and proud!
It is for us, without a doubt, a huge honor to organize this event on
the Istrian peninsula that, beyond it’s recognized touristic attributes,
offers excellent conditions for practicing this sport.
This year the race has become a part of Ultra Trail World Tour,
the circuit consisting of the best and the biggest ultra-trail races
worldwide. This is a big accomplishment and we will invest our best
efforts in the organization of our race so that all of our competitors
remain happy, satisfied and continue to participate in our races.
The trail routes will lead you to the heart of the Istrian peninsula,
through some pretty old medieval towns, you will feel like visiting
Tuscany! By the way, the longest route will also take you to the
smallest town in the world - Hum.
The novelty this year is that we have included in our offer another
trail, the shortest so far, 42 km long, catering to the needs of those
who have just enrolled to the school of ultra-trail running. The
starting point of this trail will be in the beautiful medieval town of
Motovun, situated in Central Istria, a town that we so often like to
call “Little Tuscany”.
Besides the shortest course (42 km) we offer another three courses
which start in Labin (100 miles), Lovran (110 km), Buzet (69 km)
and finish on the western part of the peninsula, in Umag, which is
located 30 minutes from the border with Slovenia and has a wide
range of hotel accommodation nearby.
But we have even more! A super cute 5K race un Umag and Ledo 1
Mile race for the kids :).
We strongly believe that this event will have all the brilliance
expected and be an extra motive to all who are here to stay a while
longer or, perhaps, to return one day.
While in Istria, don’t miss out on our exquisite local cuisine! It offers
you a wide range of delicious food based on the Mediterranean
cuisine, as well as top notch wines, and what is more, this year Istria
has been ranked as the best olive-growing region in the world.
We wish you a splendid and unforgettable stay in our beautiful
region, a successful race and let the best win!
Welcome to the 4 th edition of 100 Miles of Istria!
