9. SPARES BAGS
Each competitor on 100 miles and 110 km
race recieves with his/her race BIB, two bags,
a big one for the equipment point, and a small
one for personal stuff/gear (69 km and 42 km
competitors will recieve only one – small bag).
Once filled with his/her stuff and closed, the big
bag can be deposited at the designated tent at
the race HQ in the working hours. The small bag
can be deposited right before the start at the
designated place.
The big bag will be transported by the
organization to aid station Buzet. When reaching
Buzet, each runner will have his/her bag.
Before leaving Buzet aid station again, the drop
bags can be left to the organization crew in the
area set aside for this purpose in order to be
taken back to Umag.
The bags are handed back either to the
competitor or to their entourage, uniquely on
presentation of the race number. They must have
been collected after 12 PM of Saturday April 16th
and before 6 PM of Sunday April 17th at the race
HQ in Umag.
The small bag will be transported by the
organizer back to the race HQ in Umag where
it will be handed back to the competitor upon
arrival at the finish area.
The Organization will definitely not send any bag
to participants’ houses. Bags not collected after
this deadline will be immediately destroyed for
reasons of hygiene.
Only the bags supplied by the organization will
be transported. Sticks are not transportable
within these bags.
The organisation assures the repatriation, to
the race HQ in Umag, of sacks belonging to
runners who have abandoned, on the condition
that their abandonment has been registered.
The delay of the return of bags is based on the
logistical constraints and the organisation cannot
guarantee a complete return of the bags before
the end of the race.
Any complaint about the contents on arrival is
not acceptable. It is recommended not putting
valuable objects in it.
10 START OF RACE
Athletes are required to be at the parking zone in
front of the race HQ in Umag:
• 100 mile: before 1:30 PM on Friday, April
15th. From that point, organizer will
transport competitors to the start by bus
(free of charge). There will be a designated
area at the start location (Marshall Tito
Square, Labin) with a bag deposit. The
organization cannot be held responsible
for any items left unattended in the bag
deposit area. The race will start at 4 PM.
• 110 kilometers: before 9:30 PM on Friday,
April 15th. From that point, organizer will
transport competitors to the start by bus
(free of charge). There will be a designated
area at the start location (Square, Lovran)
with a bag deposit. The organization cannot
be held responsible for any items left
unattended in the bag deposit area. The
race will start at 12 (midnight).
• 69 kilometers: before 7 AM on Saturday,
April 16th. From that point, organizer will
transport competitors to the start by bus
(free of charge). There will be a designated
area at the start location (Square, Buzet)
with a bag deposit. The organization cannot
be held responsible for any items left
unattended in the bag deposit area. The
race will start at 9 AM.
• 42 kilometers: before 11 AM on Saturday
April 16th. From that point, organizer will
transport competitors to the start by bus
(free of charge). There will be a designated
area at the start location (Square, Motovun)
with a bag deposit. The organization cannot
be held responsible for any items left
unattended in the bag deposit area. The
race will start at 12 PM.
11. RACE ROUTES
Should adverse weather conditions occur or one
or more paths become unpassable, alternative
routes will be outlined at the briefing before the
start of the race.
The race kilometers are not marked. Competitors
should therefore adhere strictly to the marked
race route and avoid taking shortcuts or cutting
out sections of the route. Any departures
from the official route, apart from entailing
disqualification, shall be at the sole risk of the
competitor.
12 SAFETY AND CHECK POINTS
First aid posts are positioned at different points
throughout the course. These posts are in radio or
telephone liaison with race HQ. A medical control
team is present during the entire duration of the
events at the Umag race HQ.
The rescue posts are aimed at bringing help to
any person in danger with the means particular
to the organisation or registered.
If it appears that a runner is in difficulty or
seriously injured to call for assistance :
• go in person to a first aid point
• telephone the course controller
• ask another runner to alert the first aiders
It is essential that each runner helps anybody in
danger and alerts the first aid point.
Do not forget, that due to the problems related
to the environment and the type of event, one
might have to wait for assistance for longer than
anticipated. Your security, therefore, depends
upon the quality of the materials that you have
in your pack.
A runner calling on a doctor or a rescuer submits
himself to their authority and undertakes to
accept their decisions. From the moment where
the health of a runner necessitates treatment
via an intravenous drip, the runner will be,
obligatorily, excluded from the race.
The first-aiders and doctors have the right to :
• exclude from a race (by invalidating the
race-bib) all competitors deemed unfit to
continue the event.
• to evacuate by any means a runner judged
to be in danger
• to hospitalise any runners whose state of
health necessitates doing so
The choice of the means of evacuation and of
hospital is the decision of the official first-aiders
and doctors.
