4 “To become among the world’s top-five arms exporters is our strategic objective”
Petro Poroshenko President of Ukraine Ukraine has enormous industrial and intellectual potential in the defense field. And the greatest testimony to this is the events of the last two years. Ukraine is the only country that has managed in a very short period of time, amid an on-going war, not only to raise its military-industrial complex from the ruins, but also to become a strong player in the international arms market. Today Ukrainian modern and high-quality equipment is among the most competitive on world markets. Evidence of this is the continuous increase in demand for Ukrainian high-tech weapon systems. By the end of 2014 Ukraine again was among the ten biggest arms exporters, as was stated by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). According to the prestigious periodical Defense News, last year a Ukrainian defense holding group «Ukroboronprom» for the first time was listed in the top-100 largest defense companies in the world. Ukraine is rapidly increasing its military capacities. To become among the world’s top-five arms exporters is our strategic objective. And we have all it takes - science, technology, and production capacity. 5
