Life rarely takes us in a straight line... sometimes we end up<br />

where we began.<br />

In some ways that was true for Robert and Mavis, who met<br />

some years ago not too far from the house on <strong>Strathmore</strong><br />

<strong>Pl</strong>ace in Barrie.<br />

“We first ran into each other at a cottage in Point Au Baril, I<br />

was <strong>14</strong> and Bob was 17” Mavis tells us...”we'd go hiking, or go<br />

to the beach and we were just, together”<br />

From Point Au Baril back to Toronto, it wasn't long before the<br />

two were married, and settled with their children in a house in<br />

Scarborough. But the summers and weekends drew them<br />

back north, to camp or to the cottage, and it was soon clear<br />

that Simcoe's landscape was an ideal place to live full time.<br />

The appeal of being halfway between cottage and the city is<br />

what initially attracted the couple from the east end of<br />

Toronto to the quiet neighbourhood in Barrie's southend.<br />

But it wasn't until they saw the 3 bedroom house, and it's<br />

potential, that they decided to make it a home.<br />

There is the big garage and driveway, ready to house multiple<br />

vehicles (a feature Bob enjoyed while working on hobby cars in<br />

his spare time)<br />

There are the two fireplaces, where families might gather<br />

around in the winter, for hot chocolate or to chat about plans<br />

for the warmer months.<br />

There are multiple bathrooms, to quell at least a bit of the<br />

hectic mornings when time and space to shower or shave<br />

always seem in short supply.<br />

Being a 10 minute walk to the beach and driving distance of<br />

downtown, just made the decision easier.<br />

For 15 years, the couple watched as the neighbourhood grew,<br />

with schools and shopping and families populating the region.<br />

All these years later Bob and Mavis are still hiking together. Not<br />

in Point Au Baril, but on the nearby trails surrounding the<br />

neighbourhood. From the cottage region to Barrie; “This area is<br />

us” Mavis notes<br />

Life will soon bring a new family on their own winding path to<br />

the house on <strong>Strathmore</strong> <strong>Pl</strong>ace. It is a inviting home to begin, or<br />

to finish a Full Circle.
