Amber appears,<br />

fresh from a swim<br />
or a wind-swept ride<br />

a yellowing bookmark<br />
stuck between<br />
Williams and HD<br />
in a Norton anthology.<br />
With the palms<br />
and waters calm,<br />
oranges and grapefruits<br />
green on the trees,<br />
the air tastes<br />
like spring, even as<br />
jack-o’-lanterns<br />
decorate<br />
this neighborhood,<br />
