II. Progress of the Sāsana - 87<br />
uṭṭhāyāsanā Bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṁ katvā pakkāmi.<br />
having worshipped and circumambulated the Gracious One, went away.<br />
Atha kho Yaso kulaputto acirappakkante seṭṭhimhi gahapatimhi<br />
<strong>The</strong>n the young man Yasa not long after the merchant householder had gone away 142<br />
Bhagavantaṁ etad-avoca:<br />
said this to the Gracious One:<br />
“Labheyyāhaṁ Bhante Bhagavato santike pabbajjaṁ,<br />
“May I receive the going-forth, venerable Sir, in the presence of the Gracious One,<br />
labheyyaṁ upasampadan.”-ti<br />
may I receive the full ordination.”<br />
“Ehi bhikkhū” ti Bhagavā avoca “svākkhāto Dhammo,<br />
“Come, monk,” said the Gracious One, “the Dhamma has been well-proclaimed,<br />
cara brahmacariyaṁ sammā dukkhassa antakiriyāyā.” ti<br />
live the spiritual life for the complete ending of suffering.”<br />
Sā va tassa āyasmato upasampadā ahosi,<br />
That was this venerable one’s full ordination,<br />
tena kho pana samayena satta loke arahanto honti.<br />
and at that time there were seven Worthy Ones in the world.<br />

Atha kho Bhagavā pubbaṇhasamayaṁ nivāsetvā pattacīvaram-ādāya,<br />
<strong>The</strong>n the Gracious One, after dressing in the morning time, and picking up his bowl<br />
and robe,<br />
āyasmatā Yasena pacchāsamaṇena<br />
o went with the venerable Yasa as the ascetic who attends on him<br />
yena seṭṭhissa gahapatissa nivesanaṁ tenupasaṅkami,<br />
to the merchant householder’s home,<br />
upasaṅkamitvā paññatte āsane nisīdi.<br />
and after approaching he sat down on the prepared seat.<br />
