[30: <strong>The</strong> Emblic Myrobalan Miracle]<br />
Atha kho Uruvelakassapo jaṭilo, tassā rattiyā accayena,<br />
<strong>The</strong>n the yogi Uruvelakassapa, with the passing of that night,<br />
yena Bhagavā tenupasaṅkami,<br />
approached the Gracious One,<br />
upasaṅkamitvā Bhagavato kālaṁ ārocesi:<br />
and after approaching he announced the time, (saying):<br />
“Kālo Mahāsamaṇa niṭṭhitaṁ bhattan.”-ti<br />
“It is time, <strong>Great</strong> Ascetic, the meal is ready.”<br />
“Gaccha tvaṁ Kassapa āyāmahan.”-ti<br />
“You go ahead, Kassapa, I am coming.”<br />
Uruvelakassapaṁ jaṭilaṁ uyyojetvā,<br />
After sending away the yogi Uruvelakassapa,<br />
yāya Jambuyā Jambudīpo paññāyati tassā avidūre Āmalakī tato phalaṁ gahetvā,<br />
picking a fruit from an Emblic Myrobalan (tree) not far from the Rose-Apple (tree),<br />
(after which) the Rose-Apple Island is named,<br />
paṭhamataraṁ āgantvā, agyāgāre nisīdi.<br />
and arriving earlier, he sat down in the sacrificial firehouse.<br />
Addasā kho Uruvelakassapo jaṭilo Bhagavantaṁ agyāgāre nisinnaṁ,<br />
<strong>The</strong> yogi Uruvelakassapa saw the Gracious One sitting in the sacrificial firehouse,<br />
disvāna Bhagavantaṁ etad-avoca:<br />
and after seeing (him), he said this to the Gracious One:<br />
“Katamena tvaṁ Mahāsamaṇa maggena āgato,<br />
“By what path, <strong>Great</strong> Ascetic, did you come,<br />
ahaṁ tayā paṭhamataraṁ pakkanto,<br />
I set out earlier than you,<br />
so tvaṁ paṭhamataraṁ āgantvā, agyāgāre nisinno.” ti<br />
(but) you, arriving earlier, are (already) sitting down in the sacrificial firehouse.”<br />
“Idhāhaṁ Kassapa taṁ uyyojetvā,<br />
