<strong>The</strong> <strong>Great</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> - 124<br />
Atha kho Kakudhe adhivatthā devatā<br />
<strong>The</strong>n a god who was living in an Arjuna (tree), 179<br />
Bhagavato cetasā cetoparivitakkam-aññāya, sākhaṁ onamesi:<br />
knowing with his mind the reflection that had arisen in the Gracious One’s mind,<br />
bent down a branch, (saying):<br />
“Idha Bhante Bhagavā ālambitvā uttaratū.” ti<br />
“May the Gracious One, venerable Sir, having grabbed hold here emerge (from the<br />
lake).”<br />
Atha kho Bhagavato etad-ahosi:<br />
<strong>The</strong>n this occurred to the Gracious One:<br />
“Kimhi nu kho ahaṁ paṁsukūlaṁ vissajjeyyan?”-ti<br />
“Now on what can I stretch out this rag-robe (for drying)?”<br />
Atha kho Sakko Devānam-indo,<br />
<strong>The</strong>n, Sakka, the Lord of the Gods,<br />
Bhagavato cetasā cetoparivitakkam-aññāya,<br />
knowing with his mind the reflection that had arisen in the Gracious One’s mind,<br />
mahatiṁ silaṁ upanikkhipi:<br />
set up a great rock, (saying):<br />
“Idha Bhante Bhagavā paṁsukūlaṁ vissajjetū.” ti<br />
“May the Gracious One, venerable Sir, stretch out the rag-robe here.”<br />
Atha kho Uruvelakassapo jaṭilo, tassā rattiyā accayena,<br />
<strong>The</strong>n the yogi Uruvelakassapa, with the passing of that night,<br />
yena Bhagavā tenupasaṅkami,<br />
approached the Gracious One,<br />
upasaṅkamitvā Bhagavantaṁ etad-avoca:<br />
and after approaching, he said this to the Gracious One:<br />
“Kālo Mahāsamaṇa niṭṭhitaṁ bhattaṁ.<br />
“It is time, <strong>Great</strong> Ascetic, the meal is ready.<br />
Kiṁ nu kho Mahāsamaṇa,<br />
Now how is it, <strong>Great</strong> Ascetic,<br />
