Christmas spirit
Lynn Miell from Langport got into
the Christmas spirit by creating
sprays from foliage in her garden.
These were sold in aid of the
Charity at Cobbs Wholefoods in
Somerton and raised a total of £220.
For the second year running,
Linda Parry from Wincanton held
a Christmas Wreath Workshop at
her home. Linda’s granddaughter
suffered a seizure three years
ago and Dorset and Somerset Air
Ambulance airlifted her to hospital.
With bookings already being taken
for this year, members of the public
pay £12 to make their own wreaths
from natural materials and willows,
which Linda supplies.
Scooter Club
The Modrapheniacs Scooter Club raised £1,465
for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance in
memory of a member’s daughter, Joanna, who
sadly lost her life at the age of 17 while riding her
scooter. Volunteer John Hoyle met the group at
one of their gatherings, where they presented
him with the funds raised. Thanks and best wishes
are sent from us all!
Members of Bridport Bowling Club
had a fantastic time at their yellowthemed
Charity Day.
After an enjoyable game of bowls,
members tucked into a scrummy
cream tea and also held a raffle.
Many of the prizes donated by club
members were considered too good
to raffle, so they held an auction
– with the proceeds from the day
going to the Charity.
Additionally, the club raised
money during their tour of Wales
and included a daily swindle and
fines night for those who had
committed various misdemeanours
throughout the tour. In total, they
raised £1,085.
Touchdown
The Dorset and Wilts Rugby Football League
and Swanage and Wareham Rugby Club have
raised a total of £760 for Dorset and Somerset
Air Ambulance.
The money was raised from the proceeds of
gate receipts for champion matches played
against Hampshire Rugby Football Union.
Wiltshire Air Ambulance also received donations
from champion matches played against
Trowbridge Rugby Club.
County President John Constable presented
Fundraising Co-ordinator Debbie Birtwisle with a
cheque at a recent airbase visit and said: “We are
proud to support both air ambulances as they do
all three counties a great service.”
