This year’s SCMAF’s Annual Awards and Installation Banquet was held at
the Toyota USA Automobile Museum in Torrance. The theme of the banquet
was “Honoring the Past. Leading the Future” to signify this year’s goal of the
Executive Board to work aggressively to strengthen itself as a viable and
pertinent organization, both to recreational professionals and sports
participants in 2012. After guests checked in, they had time to tour the main
hall of the Toyota USA Automobile Museum or socialize with one another in
the banquet area.
The evening began with a brief
welcome from Torrance City Council
Member Gene Barnett. Gene thanked
the audience supporting their
communities and to keep up the good
work. Next the Master of Ceremonies,
Scott Williamson, introduced Katie
Parkinson who sang the National
Anthem. After the anthem Scott then
introduced outgoing SCMAF President
Carlos Espinosa who went on to praise
2012 SCMAF Board of Directors
SCMAF for its 62 years of service to the southern California community and
how this banquet recognizes SCMAF’s members and agencies who have gone
above and beyond their commitment to SCMAF.
Carlos spoke of SCMAF’s service to the community and of the federation’s
rich history which was sitting in the audience. Carlos took time to recognize the
Past President of SCMAF in the audience. He then thanked the 2011
