Preface
This book is a fan fiction based on Scott Cawthon’s “Five Nights
at Freddy’s” video games.
While the purpose of the player is simply to survive through
the nights, the creator of the games left clues about a mysterious
background story that may have happened throughout the years
around the Fazbear’s restaurants.
As the story is not explicitly told in the games, fans of the
games developed their own proposed versions and theories.
This is my version of the story.
Part One
The Purple Guy
CHAPTER 1
Fredbear’s Family Diner, 1973
J
eremy’s eighth birthday was supposed to be his happiest
day. He knew Mom and Dad would buy him the purple
bicycle he wanted so much, and he knew he would meet with all
his friends and eat cake together, but nevertheless he was very
anxious.
Something about these Animatronics, with their sharp
endoskeleton teeth and nasty smiles, gave him the chills.
Ever since his first visit to Fredbear’s Family Diner, at Tom’s
birthday party, he could not forget how scared he was when those
Animatronics got on stage. For anyone else they were cute
singing mascots, but for him they were monstrous.
There was Bonnie - a lavender rabbit animatronic, with his
red guitar. Chica - a yellow animatronic chicken who carries a
pink cupcake. Foxy - a large red animatronic fox, with a hook for
his right hand, and an eye patch over his right eye. These hideous
creatures were orchestrated by none other then Fredbear - a
yellowish-brown bear animatronic, who wears a purple top hat
and a bowtie, while wielding a microphone in his right paw.
5

The last time Jeremy was in Fredbear’s Family Diner, he was
able to avoid the Animatronics. But today was his birthday! He
knew they would get him up to the stage and dance around him.
Last night he even had a terrible nightmare about Fredbear
who was biting his head while all the kids were dancing and
laughing…
When Jeremy and his parents entered the diner they were
greeted by a man dressed in a golden Fredbear costume. Golden
Fredbear put a purple party hat on Jeremy’s head and showed
him to his table, in front of the stage.
The other kids came shortly after, with their presents and wide
smiles. Jeremy almost forgot about the Animatronics, and was
playing with his friends, until Fredbear got on stage, followed by
Foxy, Chica and Bonnie.
The Animatronics band started to sing and play, and suddenly
Jeremy felt a big furry hand clutching his shoulder. It was the
Golden Fredbear guy, who grabbed his hand firmly and pulled
him up to the stage.
Jeremy closed his eyes. He remembered his nightmare and
suddenly it felt so real.
The Animatronics surrounded him and played a birthday song
for him.
“They’re just puppets …” Jeremy told himself. “They can’t
harm me. They are cute and innocent…”
He tried to crack a smile, but all he remembered was Fredbear
biting his head in his nightmare.
6

Suddenly Fredbear grabbed his hand. Jeremy tried to pull his
hand away but the grab was tight and firm!
Jeremy felt his tears pouring down his face and cried, “Please!
No! Let me go!”
Fredbear looked at him and Jeremy felt his sinister eyes
burning through his soul. Fredbear’s hold grew tighter, and
Jeremy felt his hand become wet from sweat and blood.
Jeremy pulled his wet hand away and pushed Fredbear’s face
with his bloody hand, leaving a red palm print on the brown
bear’s head.
Jeremy looked around and saw his friends staring at him with
amusement, some of them were laughing and pointing their
fingers at him. Then he realized he wet his pants and everybody
could see the growing stain!
His friends’ laughter grew louder as Jeremy jumped off the
stage and ran to the front doors.
CHAPTER 2
Fredbear’s Family Diner, 1983
J
eremy was excited to finally drive alone, unsupervised, in
his purple 1976 Chevy El-Camino. He entered his car and
drove aimlessly around the empty streets.
It was Sunday morning and the streets were calm and quiet.
He felt like the captain of his boat, sailing across red, orange and
yellow autumn leaves.
Suddenly he stopped at the corner. On his left he saw
Fredbear’s Family Diner. He did not know how and why his car
led him to this place. He had not stepped a foot in there since his
horrible eighth birthday, and suddenly the memories came
rushing back.
Through the front window he could see a birthday party going
on.
He was about to drive away, when he saw a child emerging
from the front door and collapsing in the parking lot.
This image reminded him of Fredbear’s holding and crushing
his hand. His heart skipped a beat.
9

He turned off the engine and got out of the car. While he was
pacing towards the little boy, he was not sure whether he felt
more sorry for him or more angry.
The boy was crouching on the asphalt, sobbing. His hair was
ginger and his skin was pale, but his eyes and cheeks were red
and wet from crying.
Jeremy put a firm hand on the boy’s shoulder. “Don’t cry,
Don't cry!” He said, partly comforting and partly commanding.
But the boy continued.
Jeremy’s voice became more restless. “Stop crying!” He did
not want the boy to be ridiculed by his friends. He did not want
the boy to be afraid. “Don’t be a wuss!”
Jeremy looked up and saw Fredbear staring at him through the
glass doors.
Jeremy’s hand moved from the boy’s shoulder to the back of
his neck. “Stop crying! They are just stupid puppets from a
stupid diner!”
The sound of crying was gradually replaced by a sound of
choking. The boy struggled to release Jeremy’s firm hand, but
Jeremy was stronger, and he was not even paying attention to the
boy. He saw Fredbear’s eyes, he remembered Freddy’s grip, and
he tightened his grip, until a blistering silence woke him up.
The boy cried no more. His arms dangled to his sides like a
lifeless puppet.
Jeremy looked at the boy’s dead red eyes. “Good,” he
whispered, “I told you to be quiet!”
10

He started to walk back to his car, and suddenly stopped and
turned around. “I can’t leave the body here,” he thought, “I have
״.‏it to hide
He grabbed the body and moved quickly to the back of the
diner. He felt Fredbear’s eyes following him, burning a hole in the
back of his head.
He wanted to hide the pale body in the green, smelly
dumpsters, but then he saw the back door was left open. He
peeked inside. It was some kind of a storage room. A perfect
place to hide a body.
He crouched inside, dragging the body behind him, kicking
the door almost completely closed.
The room was dark except for the sunshine that peeked
through the small crack he left at the door. The sunshine hit a
colorful wooden box on the floor, below the shelves. It was big
enough to hide a small child.
Inside the box was a puppet, a marionette, lying lifelessly at
the bottom. The puppet had a white face with black, hollow eyes,
rosy red cheeks, purple stripes stretching from the bottom of its
eyes to the top of its mouth, and red lipstick painted on in an
exaggerated pucker. It was part of the Animatronics show, and
was usually hanging on the stage.
Jeremy lifted the pale boy and squeezed him into the wooden
puppet box. He closed the box quietly then quickly left the
storage room.
11

He strode back to his car, forcing himself to walk instead of
run, as to not raise any suspicion.
“No one will find the body,” Jeremy thought to himself while
starting the car. But someone did.
Fredbear followed the sounds to the storage room. The room
was empty when he entered, but the marionette box was out of
place.
The ginger mother fainted when she saw Fredbear carrying
her pale, dead boy in its big, furry arms.
It took three months until Fredbear’s Family Diner went out of
business. No one would come and celebrate at the scene of a
crime. The Fredbear franchise was sold to a new company,
“Fazbear Entertainment,” along with the old Animatronics show.
The new company fixed and retrofitted the Animatronics,
focusing mainly on the star of the show. He was also given a new
black hat, black bowtie and a new name - “Freddy Fazbear”.
The murderer was never found. The only two eyewitnesses -
Freddy Fazbear and the Marionette - remained silent.
But ever since the pale body squeezed against the Marionette
inside the wooden box, every night, exactly at midnight, the
Marionette opens its eyes and remembers a man with a choking
hold and a purple car.
CHAPTER 3
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
J
eremy woke up at 11am, grabbed a half chewed piece of
bacon from the refrigerator, took the newspaper from
outside his neighbor’s front door, dragged his feet back to his
house and dropped on the stained couch.
He scanned the classified ads in the local newspaper. He
desperately needed a job.
He did not have much experience in anything. He usually was
fired after a week or two, but it was never his fault, not if you
asked him anyway. But he was willing to work hard this time, he
really needed the money.
“Now, what can I do?” he thought, as he flipped through the
crisp newspaper.
“I can flip hamburgers, no problem.” He marked a “V” on an
ad.
“I need to find something with arcade games, yeah. I’m very
good at video games; it will be great,” he murmured to himself
and continued searching.
Suddenly his eyes landed on an ad with a familiar name.
HELP WANTED
Grand Reopening!!!
Vintage pizzeria given new life!
Come be a part of the new face of
Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza!
What could go wrong?
$100.50 a week!
To apply call:
1-888-FAZ-FAZBEAR
“I can do this job,” he thought, “I’m not afraid of the stupid
bear robot. I wonder what the job’s about.”
He called the number. Apparently they needed a night guard.
It’s easy money, just sitting around in the office, watching security
cameras. Piece of cake. The guy on the phone gave him a quick
interview and told him to be there tomorrow night.
Jeremy felt excited. He was going to get a uniform, and put
some law and order into Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. And the robots,
well, they were just kids toys.
Jeremy arrived at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza at 11pm. A middle
aged guy with a mustache opened the door and let him in.
“Hi, are you the Phone Guy?” Jeremy asked.
“Oh, no. He’s the management, I’m just the day guard. My
name is Lars, Lars Capegoat.”
15

“Hi, I’m Jeremy Fitzgerald. Nice to meet you,” Jeremy said
politely and looked around.
They were standing at the entrance of a large room near a
stage. Three new versions of performing Animatronics were
standing motionless on the stage with their eyes open - Toy
Freddy, Toy Chica and Toy Bonnie. They looked somewhat
similar to the old Animatronics he remembered, but their colors
were brighter and their texture looked smoother, even in the dim
light of the stage.
At the far end of the room he saw a red and yellow carousel,
and some arcade games at the corner. A balloon boy puppet was
standing near the carousel, holding colorful balloons in one hand
and a “Balloons!” sign in the other hand.
At the corner on the left, was a glass counter with plush
versions of the Animatronics, posters of the four Animatronics,
and a huge blue and purple music box. The music box was
playing repeatedly “Pop! Goes The Weasel”.
“OK Jeremy, welcome to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza,” Lars said
unenthusiastically, “Let me show you around. Follow me.”
“So, this is the Stage Area, where the new Toy Animatronics
perform,” Lars pointed towards the stage, “The Game Area is
over there, with the carousel and arcades, and this is the Prize
Corner, with the music box,” Lars looked over the Prize Corner
and then pointed a finger towards a room entrance at the far
end, “That room is the Kids’ Cove, where the little kids play.”
16

Lars started to walk past the stage, down the hallway. Jeremy
followed him closely.
“The restrooms are on your right, and in front is the Parts/
Service room,” Lars said as he turned to look at Jeremy. “This is
where we keep the old Animatronics for parts, you shouldn’t go
in there,” Lars said and turned left down the hallway.
“On your right and left are the Party rooms, and the office is
at the end of the hallway,” Lars said impatiently and entered the
office.
A folded purple uniform was laying on the table. Lars grabbed
the uniform and threw it at Jeremy. “You can change in the
restroom. I’ll wait here,” he said.
Jeremy took the purple uniform with excitement. He liked the
sense of authority the uniform made him feel and he also liked
the color very much.
He walked back to the restroom, changed quickly and looked
at himself in the mirror. He liked it. He made a gun shape with
his right fingers and pointed at his reflection with a sense of self
importance.
Lars was waiting restlessly in the office. When Jeremy finally
returned, Lars jumped off the chair and let Jeremy take his place
behind the desk.
Jeremy sat down and stared at Lars, expecting him to continue
his orientation.
“Well,” Jeremy asked, “what do I do here?”
17

“Umm… Look… Well…” Lars staggered while peeking at his
watch nervously. “I have to go now. Umm… I’m in a hurry…
But your phone guy left you a message in the machine.” Lars
pointed at the answering machine on the desk.
“He’ll explain everything. Just listen to the messages every day
and he will update you on anything you need to know.”
Jeremy nodded and noticed how Lars was peeking anxiously at
the hallway, as if he were waiting for a ghost to appear.
18

“Look… Umm… You’ll be fine. Just… just… listen to the
tape, and… don’t be afraid.” Lars left the office quickly and
disappeared into the dark hallway.
“What a weird, fearful man,” Jeremy thought.
He looked around the office.
The office had a large, dark entrance with two triangle
warning signs on the wall above the entrance. On both the left
and right walls there were large vents, and a LIGHT button
positioned above each of the vents. The walls appeared to be
made of grey concrete covered with blue and green-tiled strips of
wallpaper. On the left wall there was a poster which read
"CELEBRATE" and featured the new Toy Animatronics band.
The right wall featured children's drawings of the Animatronics.
The floors were made of black and white tiles. Monitors were
positioned against the wall with thick wires connected to them.
In front of him was a desk with some papers, a fan, a flashlight
and an answering machine. On the floor next to him was a big,
empty Freddy Fazbear head.
He looked at the answering machine and pressed PLAY.
19

CHAPTER 4
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
T
he tape started to play and Jeremy heard the familiar voice
from his job interview.
“Uh, hello and welcome to your new job at the new Freddy
Fazbear's Pizza. Uh, I'm here to talk you through some of the
things you can expect to see during your first week here and to
help you get started down this new and exciting career path.”
“Uh, now, I want you to forget anything you may have heard
about the old location, you know. Uh, some people still have a
somewhat negative impression of the company. Uh...that old
restaurant was kind of left to rot for quite a while, but I want to
reassure you, Fazbear Entertainment is committed to family fun
and above all, safety,“ Jeremy listened carefully and remembered
the body he dumped in the puppet box. He smiled.
“They've spent a small fortune on these new Animatronics, uh,
facial recognition, advanced mobility, they even let them walk
around during the day. Isn't that neat?” The phone guy cleared
his throat and continued.
20

“But most importantly, they're all tied into some kind of
criminal database, so they can detect a predator a mile away.
Heck, we should be paying them to guard you.”
“Hmm… Interesting…” Jeremy thought.
“Uh, now that being said,” The Phone Guy continued, “no
new system's without its...kinks. Uh...you're only the second
guard to work at that location. Uh, the first guy finished his week,
but complained about...conditions. Uh, we switched him over to
the day shift, so hey, lucky you, right?”
Jeremy thought about Lars and how he was so eager to leave.
“Uh mainly he expressed concern that certain characters
seemed to move around at night, and even attempted to get into
his office. Now, from what we know, that should be impossible.
Uh, that restaurant should be the safest place on earth. So while
our engineers don't really have an explanation for this, the
working theory is that...the robots were never given a proper
‘night mode.’ So when it gets quiet, they think they're in the
wrong room, so then they go try to find where the people are,
and in this case, that's your office. So our temporary solution is
this: there's a music box over by the Prize Counter, and it's rigged
to be wound up remotely. So just, every once in a while, switch
over to the Prize Counter video feed and wind it up for a few
seconds. It doesn't seem to affect all of the Animatronics, but it
does affect...one of them.” Jeremy lifted his head and listened to
the distant sound of the music box.
21

“Uh, and as for the rest of them, we have an even easier
solution. You see, there may be a minor glitch in the system,
something about robots seeing you as an endoskeleton without
his costume on, and wanting to stuff you in a suit, so hey, we've
given you an empty Freddy Fazbear head, problem solved! You
can put it on anytime, and leave it on for as long as you want.
Eventually anything that wandered in, will wander back out.”
Jeremy looked down at the empty Freddy Fazbear head on the
floor.
“Uh, something else worth mentioning is kind of the modern
design of the building. You may have noticed there are no doors
for you to close, heh. But hey, you have a light! And even though
your flashlight can run out of power, the building cannot. So,
don't worry about the place going dark. Well, I think that's it.
Uh, you should be golden. Uh, check the lights, put on the
Freddy head if you need to, uh, keep the music box wound up,
piece of cake. Have a good night, and I'll talk to you tomorrow.”
The tape stopped and in an instant it was all quiet, too quiet.
Dead quiet. Jeremy could hear only his heavy breathing and his
heart pounding.
Suddenly he remembered. The music box! It stopped playing!
He looked at the monitors, trying to find the Prize Counter video
feed.
22

“BANG! BANG!” He heard a dull banging sound coming
from the left air vent. “What was that?!” he asked himself, while
waving around the flashlight.
He continued to zap quickly through the camera feeds. “Here
it is, CAM 11, The Prize Corner!” He saw the silent music box
through the monitor, and as he reached his hand to wind the
music box, the box started to open, and slowly coming out of the
box was the puppet, the same puppet whose box he used to hide
the ginger boy five years ago!
Jeremy could not spare a second. He pressed the “Wind Up
Music Box” button, and the box began to play “Pop Goes the
Weasel”. The puppet returned to the box, but the banging from
the left vent grew louder!
He put on the Freddy head, turned on the vent light, and
waited.
His heartbeats synchronized with the banging sound, and after
a while it was hard for him to tell whether it was his heart, the
mysterious bangs, or both.
He looked at the monitors. All the Animatronics were in their
places.
The old Animatronics, Freddy, Foxy, Chica and Bonnie, were
laying at the Parts/Service room. The new robots, Toy Freddy,
Toy Chica and Toy Bonnie were standing motionless on the
Show Stage.
Toy Foxy, also known as Mangle, was sitting at Kid's Cove.
Mangle appeared to be disfigured and mutilated, being almost
23

entirely an endoskeleton, except for its head, both of its hands,
and one of its feet, which remained attached to its endoskeleton.
Jeremy could not hear the banging sound anymore. He wound
the music box again and spent the rest of the night breathing
and pointing his flashlight into the empty darkness.
At 6am he heard bells, signaling the end of the night and his
first shift.
He felt tired, but relieved. "It wasn't so bad,” he thought.
"Actually it's quite easy. Lars is just a coward, there is nothing to
it. Just some robots making noises. Kids stuff."
He thought tomorrow was going to be easy, but nothing could
prepare him for what would happen next…
24

CHAPTER 5
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
J
eremy arrived at the pizzeria just in time to begin his
second night shift. He wore his purple uniform and sat
behind the desk.
The light on the answering machine was flashing. He was
ready to listen to the new message and hoped there would not be
any new surprising instructions. He pressed PLAY.
“Ah...hello, hello! Uh, see, I told you your first night wouldn't
be a problem. You're a natural!
Uh, by now I'm sure you've noticed the older models sitting in
the back room. Uh, those are from the previous location. We just
use them for parts now. The idea at first was to repair them...uh,
they even started retrofitting them with some of the newer
technology, but they were just so ugly, you know? The smell...uh,
so the company decided to go in a whole new direction and
make them super kid-friendly. Uh, those older ones shouldn't be
able to walk around, but if they do, the whole Freddy head trick
should work on them too, so, whatever.”
Jeremy looked at the old Animatronics through the Parts/
Service camera feed, and grinned.
25

“Uh...heh...I love those old characters. Did you ever see Foxy
the pirate? Oh wait, hold on...oh yeah, Foxy. Uh, hey listen, that
one was always a bit twitchy, uh...I'm not sure the Freddy head
trick will work on Foxy, uh. If for some reason he activates during
the night and you see him standing at the far end of the hall, just
flash your light at him from time to time. Those older models
would always get disoriented with bright lights. It would cause a
system restart, or something. Uh, come to think of it, you might
want to try that on any room where something undesirable might
be. It might hold them in place for a few seconds. That glitch
might be in some of the newer models too.
One more thing - don't forget the music box. I'll be honest, I
never liked that puppet thing. It was always...thinking, and it can
go anywhere... I don't think a Freddy mask will fool it, so just
don't forget the music box.
Anyway, I'm sure it won't be a problem. Uh, have a good
night, and talk to you tomorrow.”
Jeremy sighed and looked through the camera feeds again.
This time there was someone missing. Old Foxy!
Jeremy lifted the flashlight, and as he pointed the light towards
the dark hallway the flashlight slipped through his fingers and
dropped to the floor. The batteries popped out of the flashlight
and rolled away under the desk.
He heard footsteps coming from down the hallway.
26

“Come on! Where’re the batteries? Hurry up!”
He tried to reach for the batteries, but they were too far away
under the heavy desk.
The footsteps grew louder.
He gained all his strength and pushed the desk about 2 inches.
He tried to reach for the batteries again. He could feel them at
the tip of his fingers.
The footsteps grew louder, and the sound of the distant music
box started to fade away.
He stretched his fingers as far as he could. “Got it!”
He grabbed the batteries and stuffed them quickly inside the
flashlight. He turned on the flashlight and pointed the beam into
the hallway.
The light illuminated Foxy’s head, with his patched eye and
sharp teeth. Foxy was closer than he thought, just one step from
the office.
Foxy froze looking at Jeremy. A cold terror ran through
Jeremy’s body. Suddenly, Foxy turned around and walked back.
It was silence again. “The music box!” Jeremy gasped.
Jeremy scrambled to the monitors and wound the music box,
just before the puppet popped out.
He sat back and took a deep breath, followed by a sigh of
relief. His forehead was covered in sweat.
He put his elbows on the desk, rested his face on his palms and
closed his eyes. He wished the time would pass fast.
27

He did not know how long he was sitting with his eyes closed.
It felt like ages.
Suddenly he saw the Puppet staring at him with his shining,
sinister eyes. He was only an inch away from his face!
The puppet opened his mouth as if he was about to swallow
him. When his mouth was wide open, the Puppet’s face became
the ginger boy.
“You’re gonna die!” the ginger boy said, and Jeremy screamed
in panic.
28

And then he woke up. His palms and forehead were cold and
sweaty and his heart was beating out of his chest.
He looked around. The ginger boy and the Puppet were gone.
“Was it all a dream?” he thought. “It all seemed so real.”
He spent the rest of the night fighting to keep the
Animatronics away from the office, and after long hours he
finally heard the sweet sound of the 6 o'clock bells.
He was just about to leave when the telephone rang. He let the
machine answer.
"Uh, hello, hi, this is me, the entertainment guy,” said the
strange voice on the phone. He sounded like he was talking
through his nose.
"Well, I'm a little sick, and…and…” a sneeze. "So I can't come
to the birthday party today, sorry. Uh, but I'm sure you can find
someone else in there to wear the bear costume. Sorry. Bye now."
Jeremy stood by the phone and thought for a while. "Yes, I
should pay these guys a visit during the day."
He looked at the flashing red light on the answering machine
and pressed the DELETE button. It was no longer flashing.
29

CHAPTER 6
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
J
eremy took a Golden Freddy costume from the Parts/
Service room on his way out.
He needed a rest before he came back as a party entertainer.
He ate some cereal with milk for breakfast and took a nap on his
stained couch. It was a good dreamless sleep that boosted his
energy.
At noon he entered the pizzeria, wearing the Golden Freddy
costume. He did not say a word and only waved at the children
playing cheerfully around him.
The new Toy Animatronics, Freddy, Bonnie and Chica, were
taking their positions on stage. Lars was standing near the Prize
Corner, wearing the purple guard uniform. He did not pay
attention to Jeremy and apparently did not recognize him.
The birthday party started exactly at 1pm. Jeremy showed the
kids to their seats in front of the stage, and gave them pointed
colorful party hats. Some of them carried plush toys of the
Animatronics, which they won at the arcades and took from the
Prize Corner.
30

The birthday boy had a golden paper crown on his head and
he seamed very pleased.
The Animatronics started to sing birthday songs. Jeremy,
dressed as Golden Freddy, clapped his hands over his head and
stirred up the kids to join in with the claps.
Toy Freddy pointed at the birthday boy, and Jeremy grabbed
his hand and helped him to climb to the stage.
The birthday boy took one clumsy step and fell on his face.
Some of the kids laughed and pointed their fingers at him.
Jeremy looked down at them with anger. He helped the boy
up, the boy smiled with embarrassment and rubbed his pants.
The Animatronics continued to play and sing, and the boy joined
them.
Jeremy looked back at the boys in the crowd. Something about
their laughing and finger pointing reminded him of the shame
he felt when he was crying and wetting his pants on a very
similar stage. Five of those kids, three boys and two girls, lost
interest in the show and sneaked to the Game Area.
Jeremy stepped down from the stage and approached the kids
who were playing the arcades away from the other children and
parents.
“Hello kids!” he exclaimed, trying to mimic a bear voice.
“Do you want to eat a cake?” he bent over and asked in a low
voice, as if he were making an exclusive offer, just for them.
“Yes!” The kids cried together as a choir.
31

“Follow me,” he whispered and started to walk. When he
entered the hallway he looked back. The five kids followed him
like sheep towards the empty Party Room.
The birthday cake was sitting inside a white cardboard box, in
the middle of a long table.
Jeremy grabbed a knife and signaled the kids to come close to
the cake.
“Be quiet kids,” he whispered. “We don’t want the other kids
to come and eat our cake, do we?”
The kids nodded excitedly and giggled. He knew they would
be the type of kids who would rather eat the whole cake and
leave nothing to their friends. The kind of kids who would be
happy to watch their friends suffer.
32

The kids moved closer and stood around the cake. Jeremy
slowly opened the cake box, and as the children leaned in
expectantly, Jeremy raised the knife and with a few swift motions
stabbed the very surprised kids.
He did not have a second to waste. He wiped the blood off the
knife with a paper towel, stuffed the dirty towel in one of the
kids’ pockets, and dragged the bodies to the nearby Parts/Service
Room, one by one.
He laid the bodies beside the old Animatronics. The
Animatronics were laying still, like the dead kids. He then figured
the mechanism to open the endoskeleton of the robots.
“No one will ever find them here,” he thought as he stuffed the
kids inside the robots.
After three minutes there was not a single trace of the five
kids. There were only five old Animatronics - Freddy Fazbear,
Foxy, Chica, Bonnie and a very old version of Golden Freddy.
Underneath the costume he was still wearing, Jeremy felt sweat
rolling down his forehead and stinging his eyes. He removed the
Golden Freddy head and wiped the sweat off with his sleeve.
He looked up and immediately his eyes darted to the security
camera on the wall. He knew exactly what he needed to do next.
33

CHAPTER 7
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
J
eremy put on the Golden Freddy mask once again and
returned to the Stage Area.
Lars was standing at the end of the room. Jeremy slowly
approached, doubled over and clutching his stomach.
“Hey man, are you all right?” Lars asked the costumed man
with concern.
“No… I need your help… please,” Jeremy said, pretending to
be in great pain.
“I don’t feel well… it’s my stomach… I need you to cover for
me,” Jeremy said in a low tone of voice.
“What do you mean?” Lars asked and seamed a little worried.
“I have to go home and rest, or maybe see a doctor, I don’t
know, I don’t feel well and I need someone to replace me,”
Jeremy said pleadingly.
“Look, you only have to wear the costume and bring the kids
to the party room after the show and cut the cake. The
Animatronics will do the entertaining.”
“I… I don’t know…,” Lars stuttered.
34

“Look man, you’ll get my paycheck. I… I really have to go!”
Jeremy insisted, doubled over.
“OK, I’ll do it,” Lars said and sighed.
“Great! Thanks man, I appreciate it!” Jeremy said as relief
washed over him.
“I’ll leave the Golden Freddy suit in the Service room. Give
me five minutes,” he said and moved quickly to the Parts/Service
room.
He ripped off the costume hurriedly. Underneath he was
already wearing his purple guard uniform. He put on a purple
guard cap and lowered the brim over his eyes. He then left the
room and hurried to the office.
Inside the office he looked through the camera feeds. He
rewinded the tape of the Parts/Service camera and pressed
PLAY.
He watched himself opening the old Animatronics and hiding
the bodies inside the endoskeletons, while being dressed as
Golden Freddy. The camera captured his face clearly, after he
had removed the Golden Freddy head and wiped his brow.
He rewinded the tape again and started to record the currently
empty room, thereby replacing the incriminating video. He then
went on to carefully screen all the security footage to ensure that
his face did not appear in any of the videos.
He looked at the camera feed of the Parts/Service room
again, and saw Lars putting on the Golden Freddy suit.
35

He smiled smugly to himself and sneaked quickly out of the
pizzeria, carefully avoiding the cameras, walking only in their
blind spots.
36

CHAPTER 8
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
J
eremy returned to the pizzeria in the evening. Lars was still
at the office.
“Hi Lars,” he said, “how are you doing?”
"I... I don't know." Lars sounded confused.
"What happened?" Jeremy asked in an innocent voice.
"There was this birthday party today...and... and... I was left
alone, and...well... Some kids are mis-missing,” Lars stammered.
"What do you mean?" Jeremy acted surprised.
"They were at the party, but at some point they left the show
and… and… no one saw them again."
"They probably left the pizzeria and went somewhere else.
You know, kids. It's not your fault,” Jeremy said in a comforting
voice.
"I don't know,” Lars said. “Some of the parents talked about
the m… m… murder of the kid that happened in the old diner
four years ago. They were panicked. And the police were here
about an hour ago. They asked me some questions and told me
not to leave town.”
37

"Don't worry. The police will find them." Jeremy smiled
knowing the police would be mislead by the recently edited
footage.
“Did they look at the security tapes?” he asked.
“No, I don’t think so,” Lars said with excitement and looked at
Jeremy as if a new hope had brought him back to life.
“Well, I’m sure they will, if they don’t find the children by
tomorrow,” Jeremy said and patted on Lars’ shoulder. “Perhaps
I’ll look into it myself tonight, if our robot friends let me.”
Jeremy took a seat behind the desk as Lars started to leave.
Suddenly Lars stopped and looked over his shoulder.
“You had better watch those old Animatronics. They seem
aggressive tonight, even more than usual,” Lars warned as he
disappeared into the dark hallway.
Jeremy thought of the dead children inside of the old robots,
and wondered…
The answering machine was blinking. “Great, another
message,” he thought and pressed PLAY reluctantly.
“Hello, hello! See? I told you you wouldn't have any
problems!” The Phone Guy said with a phony enthusiasm.
“Did...uh... Did Foxy ever appear in the hallway? Probably
not. I was just curious. Like I said, he was always my favorite.
They tried to remake Foxy, you know? Uh, they thought the first
one was too scary, so they redesigned him to be more kid-friendly
38

and put him in Kid's Cove. To keep the toddlers entertained, you
know... But kids these days just can't keep their hands to
themselves. The staff literally had to put Foxy back together after
every shift. So eventually they stopped trying and left him as
some 'take apart and put back together' attraction. Now he's just
a mess of parts. I think the employees refer to him as just ‘The
Mangle’. ”
“Oh, hey, before I go, uh, I wanted to ease your mind about
any rumors you might have heard lately. Uh, you know how
these local stories come and go and seldom mean anything. I can
personally assure you, that whatever is going on out there, and
however tragic it may be, has nothing to do with our
establishment. It's just all rumor and speculation... People trying
to make a buck. You know... Uh, our guard during the day has
reported nothing unusual. And he's on watch from opening ’til
close.”
Jeremy smiled at the answering machine and thought how this
guy had no idea.
“Okay, well anyway, hang in there and I'll talk to you
tomorrow.” The recording stopped.
Lars was right. The old Animatronics were much more active
in that night, and their frowning faces showed anger and hostility.
Nevertheless, Jeremy was more experienced and less fearful
than he was on his first night as a guard. He could anticipate
39

every move they made, and drove them away using the lights, the
mask, and the music box.
But now, each time he watched them through the security
cameras, they looked back in anger, as if they were saying “We’re
gonna get you next time!”
40

CHAPTER 9
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
T
he next day, the pizzeria was crowded with police officers.
Policemen and volunteers circled the pizzeria and looked
for clues around every tree and trash can.
Police investigators questioned every adult and every child who
was present during the birthday party.
Crime scene specialists dusted every arcade game and every
piece of furniture, looking for fingerprints. Before they left they
took the security tapes, in order to watch and analyze them in the
lab.
Jeremy returned to the scene of the crime before midnight,
wound the music box, sat on the chair with his legs up on the
desk, and played the blinking answering machine.
“Hello? Hello? Uh, hey there, night four! I told you you'd get
the hang of it!”
Jeremy continued to listen while watching the angry
Animatronics through the camera feeds.
41

“OK, so uh, just to update you, uh, there's been somewhat of
an, uh, investigation going on. Uh, we may end up having to
close for a few days... I don't know. I want to emphasize though
that it's really just a precaution. Uh, Fazbear Entertainment
denies any wrongdoing. These things happen sometimes. Um...
It'll all get sorted out in a few days. Just keep an eye on things and
I'll keep you posted.”
Jeremy heard steps coming down the air vent and put on the
Freddy head.
“Uh, just as a side note though, try to avoid eye contact with
any of the Animatronics tonight if you can. Someone may have
tampered with their facial recognition systems - we're not sure.
But the characters have been acting very unusual, almost
aggressively towards the staff. They interact with the kids just
fine, but when they encounter an adult, they just...stare.
Uh...Anyways, hang tight. It'll all pass. Good night!”
At 6am, after a long night with blood thirsty Animatronics, the
bells finally rang.
At exactly the same time, in another part of town, loud heavy
knocks on Lars’ door woke him up in panic. It was the police.
42

43

CHAPTER 10
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
J
fter watching the security camera feeds from the time of
the party, including the tapes, which clearly showed Lars
putting on the bear costume, and a man in a bear costume
stabbing the children, the police arrested Lars Capegoat.
Lars insisted that he was innocent, only replacing the
entertainer who suddenly fell sick, and that the entertainer must
have been the murderer.
The police almost believed him, but it turned out the
entertainment guy really was sick, and he was not at the pizzeria
at all. His doctor and his mother confirmed he was laying in his
bed the whole day.
Lars was unable to tell the police where the children were, and
what he did with the bodies. The police continued to search for
the dead children, while interrogating the sleepless and hopeless
Lars Capegoat.
44

45

CHAPTER 11
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
J
eremy felt optimistic when he came back to the pizzeria in
the evening. He figured Lars had already been arrested by
now.
He sat by the desk and listened to the daily message from the
Phone Guy.
“Hello, hello? Hey, good job, night five! Um, hey, um, keep a
close eye on things tonight, ok? Um, from what I understand, the
building is on lockdown, uh, no one is allowed in or out, y'know,
especially concerning any...previous employees. Um, when we get
it all sorted out, we may move you to the day shift, a position just
became...available. Uh, we don't have a replacement for your
shift yet, but we're working on it. Uh, we're going to try to
contact the original restaurant owner. Uh, I think the name of
the place was… Fredbear's Family Diner or something like that.
It's been closed for years though, I doubt we'll be able to track
anybody down. Ugh, so just get through one more night! Uh,
hang in there! Goodnight!”
46

Jeremy smiled and put his feet on the desk. “They’re gonna
promote me to the day shift!” he thought as he waved the
flashlight.
The flashlight beam moved lazily across the dark hallway
before suddenly landing on Foxy’s face, who stood in the hallway
and stared at Jeremy menacingly with his mouth open, revealing
a very sharp set of teeth.
Jeremy moved from the desk with his newfound confidence
and came closer to the hallway. He shined the light directly into
Foxy’s eyes and cried “Come and get me, boy!”
Foxy released a bloodcurdling scream and turned away.
47

The next morning the police continued the search for the
missing children.
At midnight, just as Jeremy entered the office wearing a fake
smile and a purple uniform, the police called off the search in
the pizzeria. They came to the conclusion the kids were taken
away from the pizzeria, and the investigation focused on Lar’s
interrogation.
Lars, who was deprived of sleep, started to tell stories about
hiding kids all over town. He was not sure himself whether he
was telling the truth. Perhaps he was just hallucinating. He just
wanted to sleep and be left alone.
Jeremy waited for all the police officers to leave before playing
the answering machine.
“Hello? Hello...uh...what on earth are you doing there, uh did
not you get the memo, uh, the place is closed down, uh, at least
for a while. Someone used one of the suits. We had a spare in the
back, a yellow one, someone used it... now none of them are
acting right. Listen j-just finish your shift it’s safer than trying to
leave in the middle of the night. Uh, we have one more event
scheduled for tomorrow, a birthday. You’ll be on day shift, wear
your uniform, stay close to the Animatronics, make sure they
48

don’t hurt anyone okay, uh for now just make it through the
night, uh when the place eventually opens again I’ll probably
take the night shift myself. Okay, good night and good luck.”
“Finally!” Jeremy thought in excitement. “I am a day guard!”.
At the end of his night shift Jeremy hurried home and rested
for a couple of hours.
He was still sleepy when he woke up, but he had to be on time
for his first shift as a day guard.
He drank a cup of strong black coffee, put on his purple
uniform and drove back to the pizzeria.
Of course he did not know this was also his last day at “Freddy
Fazbear’s Pizza”.
49

CHAPTER 12
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
J
eremy strutted like a peacock around the stage area and
observed the kids who were pouring into the pizzeria, to
celebrate their friend’s birthday party.
Some of the parents were too afraid to send their children to
Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, in light of the recent incident. But,
nevertheless, there were enough children to crowd the Game
Area.
“They trust the new security guard!” he thought and smiled.
He knew this day would be perfect. He would not let any kid,
or any Animatronic for that matter, ruin his euphoric mood of
self-accomplishment.
At 11am the Animatronics band climbed the stage and
prepared for the show.
The regular entertainment guy, dressed like a Golden Freddy,
circled around the children and urged them to find seats in front
of the stage.
The Toy Animatronics started the show and sang their
repertoire of birthday songs.
50

Suddenly Jeremy heard soft whispers in his ears, “Purple
Man!”. It was a child’s voice.
He looked around confusedly. The children were laughing and
singing. Nobody was looking at him, but still he heard the creepy
child voice, “Hey, Purple Guy!”
It seemed the voices came from both everywhere and nowhere
at the same time. He was not sure.
“Purple Guy!”
In search of the voice, he turned around and walked slowly
towards the Parts/Service Room, where all the old Animatronics
and spare parts were stored. It was also where the dead missing
children were hidden.
He looked inside the room. The robots were lying motionless
like rag-dolls, but their heads were turned towards him and their
eyes were gazing furiously at him. They smelled like death and
he suddenly felt cold.
“It is you, Purple Guy!”
He heard the creepy voice again, this time it was clearly
coming from behind him. He turned around and walked quickly
back to the stage area, still searching for the voice.
“Purple! Purple Guy!” The voices were all around him again.
Suddenly he started to hear the familiar song, “Pop! Goes the
Weasel,” coming from the Prize Corner. He saw the menacing
Puppet dancing on the music box, his arms waving around like
some invisible puppeteer was pulling his strings.
51

In the meantime, the Animatronics continued to play and sing
cheerfully on the stage; no one else seemed to hear the music
box.
He came closer to the Puppet, and suddenly the music
stopped. The Puppet stopped dancing and only stared at Jeremy
with its resentful cold eyes, and pointed his wooden hand towards
the entrance of the Kid’s Cove.
Jeremy continued to walk slowly towards the Kids’ Cove. The
voices grew louder.
“Purple Guy!”
He peeked cautiously inside the room. It was empty. Too
empty. He felt that something was missing.
“The Mangle!” he thought. “Where is the Mangle?”
“Come here, Purple Guy!” He heard the eerie voice coming
from inside the Kid’s Cove. It was louder than ever.
He stepped inside the room with trembling legs. It was quiet.
Suddenly, he heard a bloodcurdling scream.
He looked up in horror. The Mangle was hanging upside
down from the ceiling. His deformed face loaded with sharp
teeth suddenly swung down towards Jeremy.
From that point Jeremy neither heard nor saw anything. He
only felt blood pouring down his eyes. He could not feel his legs.
He fell unconscious, face down.
The Mangle landed on its feet besides him, spitting out what
appeared to be a chunk of Jeremy’s bloody head.
52

53

CHAPTER 13
Freddy Fazbear Pizza, 1987
T
he owners of the pizzeria called the incident “an
unfortunate accident,” but this time the public was not
convinced. The rumors about ghosts haunting the place sounded
more reasonable.
Reports about head-biting robots in the local newspapers,
along with front page articles about the Fazbear Pizza serial
killer, quickly amounted to just too much bad publicity.
The violent incident involving the Mangle led the owners of
the pizzeria to believe that the Toy Animatronics malfunctioned,
and therefore all the Toy Animatronics were quickly scrapped.
Nevertheless, no one ever came back to the pizzeria, and all
future birthdays orders were canceled.
A month after the biting incident, the pizzeria shut down
completely.
The building remained empty. The owners could not find a
buyer. The grass around it grew wild, and most of the windows
were shuttered by local teens who developed “The Fazbear
Game of Courage”, in which the winner would be the one who
stayed inside the dark and empty pizzeria the longest after
54

midnight. No one was brave enough to stay more than 45
minutes.
The photos of the missing children, hanged by their parents
on a board outside the entrance of the pizzeria, slowly faded
away, becoming colorless, faceless pictures of some past
unfortunate kids.
Six years after the “Bite of ’87”, a new “Freddy Fazbear
Pizza” reopened.
The owners thought six years would be enough time for most
people to forget about any wrongdoings and ghost stories.
The restaurant was opened at a new and much smaller
location.
55

The owners, who lost a lot of money with the old pizzeria,
could not afford a bigger place, and imposed a strict savings
regimen on the employees, including budgetary use of electricity.
After scrapping the Toy Animatronics, the owners decided to
go back to the old Animatronics, and had to repair, clean, repaint
and retrofit them so they would be suitable to perform on stage.
It took a long time to get rid of the deathlike stench they
somehow gained in the old Parts/Service room.
Part Two
Awakening
CHAPTER 14
New Freddy Fazbear Pizza,
1993, Mike’s 1 st Night
M
ike Schmidt was a freshman college student. He was the
captain of his football team in high school, chairman of
the students committee, and first student in his class.
The owners of Fazbear Entertainment wanted to brand the
new place as very secure and safe, so they were excited when
such a successful student applied for the security guard position,
even if it was just a temporary summer job.
Mike was going to start his new job on Monday. In the week
before Mike’s arrival, the assistant manager of the pizzeria, who
had also given Mike his phone interview, worked as a night guard
and recorded instructions for the new employee using the office
answering machine.
Mike parked his car near the entrance of Freddy Fazbear’s
Pizza and examined the dark building. It was smaller than the
one he remembered from his childhood.
He stepped into the empty restaurant after closing hours, as
instructed during his phone interview.
58

The air inside was hot and humid.
Trying to adjust to the darkness, he squinted his eyes and
looked around.
He was in a large room which appeared to be a dining area.
The room was furnished with six tables lined up in three rows,
ready for parties. The tables were dressed in white and sprinkled
with confetti patterns. Black chairs lined the tables on both sides.
As he walked around the quiet room, he could only hear the
tapping of his shoes against the blue and red tiled floor.
He stood in front of the Stage Area. Three Animatronics were
standing frozen on stage - Freddy Fazbear, Chica and Bonnie.
They held their instruments and posed like they were in the
middle of a show, but they were still and silent and seemed to
ignore his presence.
Mike continued his exploration around the dim dining area.
On his right was a door leading to the restrooms. On the left of
the stage was a door with a sign that said “EMPLOYEES
ONLY”.
He looked inside curiously. It was a small room which was
used to store spare Animatronic parts. Heads and body parts
belonging to Freddy, Bonnie and Chica were laying around the
room. An empty endoskeleton was laying on a small table. The
room gave him the creeps, so Mike returned quickly to the
Dining Area.
Next he checked out the “Pirate Cove”. Instead of a door, the
entrance to the “Pirate Cove” was a large, cylindrical, purple-
59

colored curtain, covered in stars and sparkles. A sign placed in
front of the curtain read “SORRY! OUT OF ORDER.”
He cautiously pulled the curtain a little and curiously peeked
inside. The room was dark except for a pair of bright white eyes
staring at him. He felt uncomfortable and backed away.
He continued to feel the bright eyes on him as he was pacing
in the dining area towards the office.
From the Dining Area two dark hallways led to the office.
Near the entrance to the eastern hallway was a kitchen door. He
decided he would save the kitchen for later. He walked through
the western hallway instead, and passed by the door of a supply
closet. Children’s drawings of the Animatronics decorated the
walls.
The floor was littered with papers and trash.
“I guess they did not hire a cleaning person yet,” he thought
and frowned in disgust as he accidentally kicked a paper cup that
was laying on the floor.
The hallway ended with an opened entrance to the office on
his left.
The Office was a small, compact room.
Against the wall stood a desk, on top of which sat a few
electronic monitoring devices, a fan, and a telephone answering
machine. Wires ran up to the ceiling from the monitoring
devices. The desk had two drawers, and underneath it a big
speaker covered by a spider web.
60

On either side of the desk were large glass windows, as well as
two wide open doors that led to the shadowy eastern and western
hallways.
A black, worn out cushioned chair stood against the table. A
clean purple uniform was neatly folded on the chair.
“I guess that’s mine,” he thought and changed quickly. The
clothes fit perfectly, but he felt a little silly wearing a purple
uniform.
Next to each opened door was a panel with two square
buttons. The upper buttons were labeled “DOOR”, and the
lower buttons were labeled “LIGHT”.
The wall behind the desk was adorned with a poster of
Bonnie, Chica, and Freddy Fazbear on stage, the top of which
read "CELEBRATE!" in large letters. Next to the poster were
drawings, which were seemingly drawn by children.
The floor tiles were black and white checkered, matched by
the same patterns on the walls.
Mike sat down slowly on the chair. It was quite comfortable.
He rocked slightly on the chair and inspected the monitoring
devices.
The main monitor displayed some kind of schematic map of
the building with marks of security cameras in each room.
A panel of 10 buttons numbered CAM1 to CAM10 enabled
switching between the security feeds displayed on the main
monitor.
61

A small monitor, underneath the main one, displayed a power
usage indicator. It read, “Power left: 99%,” and as for usage only
one bar, the minimum, was displayed.
The light from the monitors made his wide dilated pupils
contract and lose their dark sensitivity. Mike looked through the
windows on his left and right. It seemed pitch black outside and
he felt like the darkness was pouring through the windows and
starting to envelop him. For the first time this night he felt lonely,
and once again creeped out.
He reached his arms towards the LIGHT switches on his left
and right. The eastern and western hallway lights turned on.
He felt relieved as the light from the hallways illuminated the
office. He let the light wash over him and it felt like a refreshing
breeze after strolling through the pizzeria in the suffocating dark.
But his feeling of relief soon turned into nervousness, as he
looked at the bottom monitor which now showed “Power left:
94%.”
He immediately turned the hallway lights off and wondered
whether the place had enough energy to last until sunrise.
62

63

CHAPTER 15
New Freddy Fazbear Pizza,
1993, Mike’s 1 st Night
J
ike sat in the poorly lit office for a few minutes and stared
at the power usage indicator, until he realized the
answering machine light was blinking.
The voice from the phone broke the disturbing silence.
“Hello, hello? Uh, I wanted to record a message for you to
help you get settled in on your first night. Um, I actually worked
in that office before you. I'm finishing up my last week now, as a
matter of fact. So, I know it can be a bit overwhelming, but I'm
here to tell you there's nothing to worry about. Uh, you'll do fine.
So, let's just focus on getting you through your first week. Okay?”
Mike nodded at the answering machine and kept listening.
“Uh, let's see, first there's an introductory greeting from the
company that I'm supposed to read. Uh, it's kind of a legal thing,
you know. Um, ‘Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. A magical
place for kids and grown-ups alike, where fantasy and fun come
to life. Fazbear Entertainment is not responsible for damage to
property or person. Upon discovering that damage or death has
occurred, a missing person report will be filed within ninety days,
64

or as soon property and premises have been thoroughly cleaned
and bleached, and the carpets have been replaced’”
“Death?! What death? I’m just guarding an empty restaurant!
What is he talking about?!” Mike thought and remembered some
rumors about the old Freddy Fazbear Pizza.
He started to shiver, although the air was hot and humid.
The tape kept on playing.
“Now that might sound bad, I know, but there's really nothing
to worry about. Uh, the Animatronic characters here do get a bit
quirky at night, but do I blame them? No. If I were forced to sing
those same stupid songs for twenty years and I never got a bath?
I'd probably be a bit irritable at night too. So, remember, these
characters hold a special place in the hearts of children and we
need to show them a little respect, right? Okay.
So, just be aware, the characters do tend to wander a bit. Uh,
they're left in some kind of free roaming mode at night. Uh…
something about their servos locking up if they get turned off for
too long. Uh, they used to be allowed to walk around during the
day too. But then there was The Bite of '87. Yeah. I-It's amazing
that the human body can live without the frontal lobe, you
know?”
Mike remembered that incident. His friend Jack was at that
birthday party and for years he was telling stories about the robot
who walked through the party room with a blood-dripping jaw.
Everybody was panicked and flew out of the restaurant, which
was soon after shut down.
65

“Uh, now concerning your safety,” the voice from the phone
continued, “the only real risk to you as a night watchman here, if
any, is the fact that these characters, uh, if they happen to see
you after hours probably won't recognize you as a person. They'll
most likely see you as a metal endoskeleton without its costume
on. Now since that's against the rules here at Freddy Fazbear's
Pizza, they'll probably try to...forcefully stuff you inside a Freddy
Fazbear suit. Um, now, that wouldn't be so bad if the suits
themselves weren't filled with crossbeams, wires, and animatronic
devices, especially around the facial area. So, you could imagine
how having your head forcefully pressed inside one of those
could cause a bit of discomfort...and death. Uh, the only parts of
you that would likely see the light of day again would be your
eyeballs and teeth when they pop out the front of the mask,
heh.”
Mike gulped. “He must be joking,” he thought.
“Y-Yeah, they don't tell you these things when you sign up. But
hey, first day should be a breeze. I'll chat with you tomorrow. Uh,
check those cameras, and remember to close the doors only if
absolutely necessary. Gotta conserve power. All right, good
night.”
The recording ended and the office became dark and quiet
again.
It was 2am. Mike was usually asleep at that time, but the
adrenaline that was flowing in his blood kept him awake and
alert.
66

He looked at the Show Stage through the security monitor. He
was relieved to see the three Animatronics still standing on stage.
He switched to the Pirate Cove camera feed. Foxy was there
behind the curtain.
Back to the Show Stage. Someone was missing! “Bonnie!” He
cried, “Where is Bonnie?!”
He switched to the western hallway camera and spotted
Bonnie moving along the hall. He heard the approaching
footsteps from his left and pushed the button to close the door.
After the door slid down, Bonnie began to determinedly bang
on it. He held his breath and waited.
He looked at his watch and at the power monitor. “I have
enough power to hold the door, yet I have more than half a night
to pass,” he thought and wished time would speed up.
The banging on the door eventually stopped. He waited for a
while, until he heard receding footsteps and then he looked at the
Show Stage again. All three Animatronics were back on stage.
As The Phone Guy predicted on the tape, the rest of the night
was quite quiet.
Foxy made one attempt to storm the office, after Mike forgot
to check on him at the Pirate Cove, but the electric door again
proved its worth by holding back the raging robots.
Finally, the 6am bell rang and Mike’s first shift was over.
On his way home the adrenaline that rushed through his body
started to wear off and he felt exhausted. He needed sleep, and if
The Phone Guy was right, the following nights would be tougher,
67

so he needed a good rest and he needed to be prepared both
physically and mentally for the upcoming nights.
68

CHAPTER 16
New Freddy Fazbear Pizza,
1993, Mike’s 2 nd and 3 rd Nights
J
ike woke up feeling refreshed. He ate a healthy meal, went
for a 5 mile jog in the park, took a hot, relaxing shower and
read a few chapters in his favorite detective book.
When the time came he put on his guard uniform and drove
to the pizzeria. He felt energized and strong enough to deal with
any bone-crushing Animatronic.
The answering machine was already flashing red when he
entered the office and sat in the chair.
He looked at the now motionless Animatronics through the
security monitor and pressed the PLAY button on the answering
machine.
“Uhh, Hello? Hello?” said the familiar voice on the phone.
“Uh, well, if you're hearing this and you made it to day two,
uh, congrats! I-I won't talk quite as long this time since Freddy
and his friends tend to become more active as the week
progresses. Uhh, it might be a good idea to peek at those
cameras while I talk just to make sure everyone's in their proper
place. You know…”
69

Again, Mike checked on the Animatronics through cameras
1A and 1C, as The Phone Guy suggested. The Animatronics
were still motionless statues.
“Uh... Interestingly enough, Freddy himself doesn't come off
stage very often. I heard he becomes a lot more active in the dark
though, so, hey, I guess that's one more reason not to run out of
power, right? I-I also want to emphasize the importance of using
your door lights. There are blind spots in your camera views, and
those blind spots happen to be right outside of your doors. So ifif
you can’t find something, or someone, on your cameras, be
sure to check the door lights. Uh, you might only have a few
seconds to react... Uh, not that you would be in any danger, of
course. I'm not implying that. Also, check on the curtain in Pirate
Cove from time to time. The character in there seems unique in
that he becomes more active if the cameras remain off for long
periods of time. I guess he doesn't like being watched. I don't
know. Anyway, I'm sure you have everything under control! Uh,
talk to you soon.”
“Yes, I have everything under control,” Mike thought and
looked at the Power Monitor that showed 94% power left. “That
would be enough,” he thought as his pupils dilated and his eyes
adjusted to the darkness.
He took another glimpse at the security monitors. The three
Animatronics on the stage were still motionless, but suddenly, as
if a magical powder was scattered on them, they moved their
70

heads all at once towards the camera and looked straight at him.
Those eyes gazing at him, staring, put goose bumps on his skin.
He quickly switched the monitor to the Pirate Cove. Foxy was
still there, hiding in the shadows behind the purple curtain.
Somehow he felt more intimidated by Foxy and was relieved to
see him calm.
Back to the Show Stage camera. “Bonnie is not there!” he
nervously murmured and switched to the Dining Area camera.
He caught Bonnie running past the Dining Area towards the
eastern hallway. He heard the footsteps on his right and lowered
the door before Bonnie could get inside the office.
Bonnie beat on the door as the power was draining fast.
After some time it was quiet again.
He was challenged again a couple of times during the night by
Foxy and Chica, but his instincts grew stronger and his shift
finally ended with 12% remaining power.
He knew he could do better. He set a target for himself to
finish the next shift with at least 15% power.
He also knew that one day he would have to face Freddy
Fazbear, who until now remained quite inactive.
Mike’s third night already felt like routine.
Again, he sat behind the desk, he looked carefully at the
security monitor, and he pressed PLAY on the answering
machine.
71

He welcomed the voice of the Phone Guy. It made him feel
like he had company in the dark room and was not alone.
“Hello, hello?” the Phone Guy cried cheerfully.
“Hey you're doing great! Most people don’t last this long. I
mean, you know, they usually move on to other things by now.
I'm not implying that they died. Th-th-that’s not what I meant.
Uh, anyway I better not take up too much of your time. Things
start getting real tonight.
Uh... Hey, listen, I had an idea: if you happen to get caught
and want to avoid getting stuffed into a Freddy suit, uhh, try
playing dead! You know, go limp. Then there's a chance that, uh,
maybe they’ll think that you're an empty costume instead. Then
again if they think you're an empty costume, they might try
to...stuff a metal skeleton into you. I wonder how that would
work. Yeah, never mind, scratch that. It's best just not to get
caught.
Um... OK, I'll leave you to it. See you on the flip side.”
The recording was shorter than he hoped for, but he knew he
had to be more focused now on the raging Animatronics.
As the Phone Guy wisely foresaw, things got really busy this
night. The Animatronics stormed the office more frequently, and
even Freddy tried to pay him a visit once. However, Mike’s senses
sharpened too, and he even met his personal goal. He left the
office at 6am with exactly 15% remaining power.
At the end of the third night he felt quite confident with the
job, and he even began to like it. He thought the job was good
72

for building his character and strengthening his instincts and
senses.
His feelings towards the Animatronics also changed from
being scared and intimidated by them to almost empathizing
with them. What if they were not trying to kill him, but rather
trying to deliver some message?
Unfortunately, his feelings of optimism and confidence
crumbled on the nightmarish fourth night.
73

CHAPTER 17
New Freddy Fazbear Pizza,
1993, Mike’s 4 th Night
J
ike entered the office on his fourth night and sat behind the
desk.
He decided to set a new target - to end the night shift with at
least 17% power. He knew it would be very challenging,
considering the increased activity of the angry robots, but in
order to improve and achieve excellence he had to set
challenging goals all the time and never settle for mediocre
performance.
The red light on the answering machine was blinking. He was
happy to listen to the Phone Guy again, but he wondered what
else could this guy teach him that he did not already know.
He pressed PLAY and listened carefully.
“Hello, hello? Hey! Hey, wow, day four. I knew you could do
it!” The Phone Guy sounded a little stranger than usual. Mike
heard anxiety in his voice.
“Uh, hey, listen, I may not be around to send you a message
tomorrow,” a banging sound was heard in the tape, “It’s-it's been
a bad night here for me… Um, I-I'm kinda glad that I recorded
my messages for you, uh, when I did,” The Phone Guy sounded
74

even more anxious now, and the background banging sounds
grew louder.
“Uh, hey, do me a favor. Maybe sometime, uh, you could
check inside those suits in the back room? I'm gonna try to hold
out until someone checks. Maybe it won’t be so bad. Uh, I-I-I-I
always wondered what was in all those empty heads back there.”
A music started to play on the tape. Mike recognized that tune
which he heard last night during Freddy’s attempt to break into
the office.
“You know… oh, no!” the Phone Guy cried. Mike heard a
moaning sound, followed by an Animatronic’s loud screech and a
static noise. The tape stopped.
Mike sat for a full minute without moving, only staring at the
answering machine in panic. Sweat started to pour down his
face.
“What happened to the Phone Guy?!” he thought. He knew
the answer but he wished he were wrong. He wished he could
think of an optimistic scenario in which the Phone Guy was alive
and well and would continue to send him his friendly tapes.
75

76

CHAPTER 18
New Freddy Fazbear Pizza,
1993, One Week Earlier
T
he Assistant Manager, Guy S. Fritz, sat calmly in the small
office and was ready to begin his night shift.
His friends and coworkers liked to call him The Phone Guy,
because he preferred to communicate with other people through
the phone, rather than direct face to face conversation.
He was glad he could find a new, young guard to take his place
in keeping an eye on the facility during the nights.
It was not that he did not like being in the restaurant at night.
He even enjoyed teasing the Animatronics. Being alone in the
dead quiet and dark place actually helped him to concentrate
and think about how to make the “Freddy Fazbear Pizza”
experience even more enjoyable.
The big problem was that he hardly ever had a chance to
sleep. He was exhausted. The long night shifts left him extremely
tired, and during the day he had to go back to building the
business. There was no time to rest.
The Animatronics did not bother him that much any more.
Surely they tried to attack him, like they did with any adult
77

during the night, but he was extremely experienced and knew
how to avoid them.
It was as if he had a six sense. He sat behind the desk with his
eyes closed, and could almost feel when one of the robotic
creatures attempted to make a move on him. He could identify
any footstep, and could predict precisely when an Animatronic
decided to leave its position and move towards the office.
He would wait with his finger on the door button until the
very last second when he would shut the door right on the
mechanical face of the predator who tried to approach him.
The new guard, Mike, was scheduled to begin working on
Monday. The Phone Guy had already recorded three orientation
tapes to help the new guard pass the lonely nights securely in the
dark pizzeria.
He was about to start the recording of the fourth tape, when
he heard strange and unfamiliar footsteps coming from the
eastern hallway.
He opened his eyes and looked at the camera feed from the
eastern hallway. He saw a man moving slowly towards the office.
The Phone Guy could not recognize him. The hallway was too
dark and the man was wearing a baseball cap that put a shadow
over his face.
He had a bad feeling about this man. He closed the door just
before the man could enter the office. He did not want to be
surprised by a stranger. He could handle the Animatronics, but
78

he did not know what to expect from a strange man in the
middle of the night.
The stranger stopped at the door and looked straight into the
security camera. It was too dark to see his face, so the Phone Guy
risked some energy loss and turned the eastern hallway light on.
The stranger cracked a smile at the camera.
It took him a few seconds and then it struck him. His jaw
dropped in surprise and he immediately opened the door and let
the stranger into the office.
“Je-Jeremy? Is that you?” The Phone Guy asked in amazement
and stood up, facing the stranger in the dim light coming from
the ceiling lamp.
“Of course it’s me. Who did you expect? Foxy?” Jeremy
smirked.
Jeremy looked thin and pale as a ghost. He wore a worn out
purple leather jacket that was two sizes larger than his current
size, and a purple baseball cap that covered his bitten head.
“I thought you were in the hospital. The last time I saw you,
you were still unconscious. When were you discharged?” The
Phone Guy asked, still not believing he was talking to a man who
lost part of his head.
“They released me from the hospital about a year ago. I was in
a coma for two years, and stayed at the hospital for another three
years of surgeries after I woke up,” Jeremy said in a bitter voice.
79

“My doctor said I was a medical miracle,” Jeremy continued,
“but last year was no picnic. I had to learn how to talk and walk
all over again.”
“I am sorry about that,” The Phone Guy said quietly and
lowered his eyes. He could not look at Jeremy’s eyes. He
somehow felt responsible for Jeremy’s accident with the Mangle.
“But you look fine now. Your doctor was right. I’m happy for
you, kid,” he put on a fake smile and added, ”If there is anything
I can help you with, just let me know.”
“Actually, there is,” Jeremy said, “I want my old job back.”
“Your old job back? Are you sure? I mean, with your
condition…”
“I’m fine now!” Jeremy cried “I can watch over those
Animatronics. You don’t have to treat me like a disabled person.
I’m in perfect shape.”
“Yeah, well…” The Phone Guy murmured. “But why do you
want to be so close to them after what they did to you? You know
how dangerous they can be, and in this place it’s not getting any
easier.”
“I am not afraid of them, not anymore. I’m not a child and I
can prove it!”
“You don’t have to prove anything to anyone,” The Phone
Guy tried to calm him down.
“Look,” Jeremy said in a lower voice, “I need the money and I
need the job. I like this job, even after what happened to me, and
80

I don’t think you could find anyone who would like this job as
much as I do.”
“In fact we already found a night guard. He starts next
Monday, so the job is not available right now. But perhaps I
could find you some other job. A part time job at the counter …”
“I don’t want to work at the counter,” Jeremy interrupted. “I
hate to work with those irritating kids, I had enough of them.”
“Well then, I’m sorry,” The Phone Guy said and sat down in
the chair. “There isn’t anything I can do for you right now, but I
promise to call you if anything comes up.”
Jeremy continued to stand behind the chair. He then put his
hands inside his jacket pockets and looked at the security
monitor.
“They seem calm tonight,” Jeremy said as he looked at the
feed showing Freddy Fazbear standing motionless on the stage
with his microphone in his hand.
“They are just warming up,” The Phone Guy said. “They will
be active pretty soon, so you better get out now before the party
begins.”
Jeremy turned around and started to walk towards the eastern
hallway until he heard The Phone Guy call him from behind.
“Hey Jeremy, wait a second.”
Jeremy turned and faced The Phone Guy again.
“You remember Lars, don’t you?” The Phone Guy asked.
“Yeah, sure. He is still in jail, isn’t he?”
81

“Yes, he is. Poor fellow. I just visited him in jail last week. He
still claims that he is innocent and is convinced that he was
framed,” The Phone Guy said and looked into Jeremy’s eyes.
“Well, that’s interesting,” Jeremy said, “but as I recall the
security cameras showed him killing those kids.”
“Yes, but he asked me to help him find a specialist to look over
the tapes. He believes the security tapes were edited, perhaps by
someone who had access to them. Do you know anything about
that?”
“No,” Jeremy said impatiently, “but I think Lars is crazy. I
never liked him. He is just playing with you, so I wouldn’t waste
my time with him.”
“Well, perhaps you are right. We’ll see. Be careful on your way
out,” The Phone Guy said and went back to his seat.
Jeremy walked along the eastern hallway. He had a bad feeling
about The Phone Guy. “I think he hates me,” he thought and
continued to walk towards the exit. “Could he know what I did
with those kids?”
Jeremy stopped, turned around and started to walk quickly
towards the Backstage room.
The Backstage was dark. He took a small flashlight out of his
pocket and looked around the room. Empty Animatronic heads
were laying around on the floor and on the table. This vision
reminded him of the Mangle’s face as it jumped on him, flashing
its sharp teeth. After a brief pause, he continued scanning the
walls. He finally found what he was looking for.
82

The electricity box was behind a Chica head. He moved the
head to the side and opened the box. He switched all the levers
to the OFF position, closed the box, and quickly ran to the exit.
Just before he left the pizzeria he could hear the mechanical
bodies of the Animatronics coming to life on the stage.
The Phone Guy sat with his eyes closed and listened to Chica
marching down the western hallway. He opened his eyes and
looked at the power monitor. His heart missed a beat. The power
monitor showed only 15% power left, it was only 2am and he
had a long night ahead of him!
“The electricity box! Someone tampered with the electricity
box! I am running on auxiliary power,” he thought as he watched
the power going down to 14%.
He blocked Chica before she could jump at him.
He knew he did not have much time to lose and every second
counted.
He started a new voice recording. He talked fast into the
phone, ejected the tape and put it in his pocket. He then opened
a leather briefcase, took out a notebook and stashed it in his
other pocket.
He ran to the Backstage through the eastern hallway. Chica’s
head was not blocking the electricity box anymore. “It had to be
Jeremy,” he thought as he pulled the levers back to the “ON”
position.
83

He heard Freddy coming down from the stage. He took out
the notebook and the audiotape from his pockets and hid them
inside Chica’s head.
He knew Freddy was fast, so he burst into a run back to the
office. He had to go through the western hallway. Freddy had
already entered the eastern hallway and Bonnie climbed down
the stage, on his way to the western hallway.
He sat down on the chair and caught his breath after his
fastest sprint ever.
Time was running out, so he immediately started the
recording on the answering machine. He felt it might be his last
recording. The power monitor showed only 5%.
He knew Freddy was very close to him on his right side, and
he could hear Bonnie’s footsteps getting louder from the west
side.
He lowered both doors.
The power monitor showed 4%.
He started to speak into the answering machine.
“Uh, hey, listen, I may not be around to send you a message
tomorrow.”
Bonnie started to bang on the western door.
“It's-It's been a bad night here for me. Um, I-I'm kinda glad
that I recorded my messages for you,” he cleared his throat and
continued “uh, when I did.”
Foxy also disappeared from the Pirate Cove’s camera feed.
“Uh, hey, do me a favor.”
84

The banging on the door grew louder.
“Maybe sometime, uh, you could check inside those suits in
the back room? I'm gonna try to hold out until someone checks.
Maybe it won’t be so bad. Uh, I-I-I-I always wondered what was
in all those empty heads back there.”
Freddy’s jingle “Toreador’s March” chimes began to play
through the right door.
“You know…” he continued the recording and suddenly the
power monitor reached zero percent and both doors shot up.
The last image he saw in the dim office light was Freddy’s
sharp teeth closing on him with a loud screech.
85

CHAPTER 19
New Freddy Fazbear Pizza,
1993, Mike’s 4th Night
J
ike continued to sit still and stared at the silent answering
machine after listening to the last horrible message from
the Phone Guy.
In contrast to his motionless body, his mind was racing.
He suddenly felt so alone, he no longer had the Phone Guy to
guide and accompany him through the nights. This thought
depressed him, but he struggled against drowning in worry.
Depression would paralyze him, and he was in no position to be
paralyzed, not at this place during the night.
He remembered the company’s legal introductory greeting
that the Phone Guy read to him on his first night. The part
about filling a missing person report upon the discovery of death
after the premises have been thoroughly cleaned and bleached. If
the Phone Guy was indeed dead, the company would make him
disappear and deny any wrongdoing. That is why no one spoke
about a death that might have happened a week ago.
Mike struggled to leave the negative thoughts behind and
focus on his next moves. He had to be focused. Apparently, the
Animatronics were dangerous after all, and if the experienced
86

Phone Guy could not handle them, he would have to be extra
cautious from now on.
He thought about the Phone Guy’s message. He said
something about checking inside the suits in the back room.
Mike decided he would check the Backstage room. He left the
office through the left door, but as he walked through the western
hallway he heard footsteps approaching him. The Animatronics
woke up already and he would not be able to protect himself in
the Backstage. He turned around and hurried back to the office.
He ran into the office and jumped into the chair just in time to
block Foxy’s entrance.
Foxy banged on the door for a while and left.
Mike looked at the West Hall corner through camera 2B. The
door was still closed. He watched Foxy leaving and then he
noticed something different. He was not sure, but something
changed in the West Hall corner.
“The Freddy poster!” he thought.
He noticed the poster on the wall was different. Instead of the
regular brown Freddy Fazbear poster there was a different poster.
The figure in the poster looked like a Golden Freddy. As he
looked at the strange poster he heard a girl’s laughter in the
distance.
Mike was not sure if what he saw and heard was real or just a
hallucination. He closed his eyes. When he reopened his eyes the
vision he saw made him jump out of the chair in panic.
87

Golden Freddy was standing in front of him in the office,
within reaching distance! He looked like a yellow version of
Freddy Fazbear with black holes for eyes. His jaw was hanging
wide open and his head was tilted to the right. He did not move.
The doors had been closed and Mike had not heard any
footsteps before Golden Freddy appeared in the office.
“It must be my imagination,” Mike thought and so he decided
to ignore the Golden Freddy. He looked at the security monitors,
forcing himself to focus on them rather than on the Golden
Freddy he sensed behind his back.
After a minute he looked back. Golden Freddy was gone. The
poster in West Hall corner was regular Freddy Fazbear again.
88

Mike was unable to meet his power target. The events of the
fourth night put him off balance; they made him lose confidence
and focus. He did not trust his instincts anymore, therefore he
used more light and closed the doors more often than he had to.
The Animatronics were not getting any quieter either. He did
not have any dull moments that night.
Worst of all, at exactly five minutes before 6am, the power
went off completely!
Mike was left alone in the dark. The doors could no longer
close. He heard footsteps approaching from his left. He did not
want to end up like the Phone Guy, but there was nothing he
could do to stop them!
He remembered the Phone Guy’s suggestion to play dead. He
was breathing heavily, but struggled to hold his breath. He sat as
rigid as a statue in the chair and closed his eyes. He did not want
to make a sound.
He heard Foxy coming up behind him as he felt sweat pouring
down his eyes and neck. The sweat was tickling but he did not
dare move.
The bells began to ring… it was 6am!
Mike opened his eyes with relief and could now breathe freely.
He was alone in the office again. He barely survived the fourth
night.
89

On his way home he remembered the message about the
Backstage room. He decided he would arrive at the pizzeria a
few minutes early this evening, and look for any more clues the
Phone Guy might have left him.
He was also hoping he would learn more about what
happened to the Phone Guy.
90

CHAPTER 20
New Freddy Fazbear Pizza,
1993, Mike’s 5 th Night
J
ike arrived at the pizzeria thirty minutes before his fifth
night shift began.
He went straight to the Backstage room. He did not know
what he was looking for, but he was hoping to find some kind of
clue that would help him uncover what happened to the Phone
Guy.
The Backstage was filled with Animatronics parts. Mainly
empty heads and some endoskeletons.
He remembered the Phone Guy mentioning the empty heads.
He lifted a Bonnie head, turned it over, and put his hand
inside. He felt nothing unusual. The head was empty.
He continued searching inside other heads until he found
something inside a Chica head. He took out a notebook and an
audio tape.
He was excited with his new findings and walked quickly to
the office, where he could read the notebook and listen to the
tape.
91

When he entered the office he was surprised to see the
answering machine light blinking.
An optimistic feeling of a new hope flooded him. The Phone
Guy must have been alive and well. He almost forgot about the
tape and notebook the Phone Guy left him in the Backstage
because he was eager to listen to the new recorded message in
the answering machine.
He smiled to himself and pressed the PLAY button.
When the tape started to play he quickly wiped the smile off
his face and opened his mouth in perplexity.
92

The voice on the phone was not the Phone Guy’s voice. He
was not sure if it was even a human voice. It was a deep, garbled,
demonic-sounding voice.
“It was probably made by one of the Animatronics,” he
thought to himself, “or maybe the Phone Guy is trapped inside
one of them?” he wondered.
He recalled the notebook and the new tape he was holding.
He looked at the notebook in the faint ceiling light. The title
read “Animatronics Model 2.x Hacking Guide.” The notebook
was about ten pages long, printed in old yellowish paper, and had
some coffee stains on the cover.
Inside were some pictures of animatronics, mechanical and
electrical schematics, some computer code, and some textual
explanations.
He was not sure why the Phone Guy would leave him this
notebook. He hoped the new tape from the Backstage would
shed some light on it.
He took out the tape from the answering machine and
replaced it with the newly found tape and pressed PLAY.
“Uh, Hello!” he heard the familiar voice of the Phone Guy.
His voice was the same but he talked quicker than usual, like he
was in a rush.
“I-I don’t have much time. The power is running low.
Someone tampered with the electricity box. Listen carefully,
uh… Jeremy was the old guard, the one that was bitten… Uh,
don’t trust him. He might be dangerous. You may need to use the
93

Animatronics to help you. If you found this tape you must have
found the Animatronics Hacking Guide. It will teach you how to
reprogram the robots. You can only do this before they become
active. But be careful. Uh, the company prohibits unqualified
employees from tampering with the robots. You would probably
get fired for messing with Animatronics’ AI, so only use the guide
as a last resort.”
Mike opened the Animatronics Hacking Guide again and
started to read it carefully. He was able to find out how to access
the Animatronics’ processor unit from their backs, and how to
change their artificial intelligence levels.
After he finished reading the notebook he looked at the
security monitors. The robots were still inactive and standing at
their regular positions.
Suddenly, he heard footsteps coming from the West Hall. It
could not be the Animatronics. Through the open left door
emerged a pale thin man, wearing a purple Freddy Fazbear
Pizzeria uniform.
“Who are you?” Mike asked the pale man.
“I am the night guard and you are sitting in my chair,” Jeremy
said in an angry tone.
“You are Jeremy, aren’t you? I’m Mike,” Mike offered his hand
for a handshake.
Jeremy ignored Mike’s hand. Mike pulled his hand back.
At this point Mike noticed Jeremy was leaning on a stick that
he seemed to be hiding under his right arm.
94

At first Mike thought Jeremy was supporting himself with a
cane, but when Jeremy brought the stick closer to Mike’s face, it
became clear. At the end of the stick was a very sharp blade; it
was an axe.
95

CHAPTER 21
New Freddy Fazbear Pizza,
1993, Mike’s 5 th Night
“F
azbear Entertainment would like to thank you for your
service,” Jeremy said impatiently as he gestured with the
axe towards the door. “Your job here is over. Go away now!”
Mike gazed at the sharp axe blade. He sensed Jeremy was mad
enough to use it, and he did not want to take any chances.
“That’s okay,” Mike said as he jumped off the chair. “I don’t
like this job and I was going to quit anyway. Enjoy it.”
Mike turned and looked at the security monitor. The
Animatronics were still dormant.
The temporary silence was almost immediately broken by the
sound of Jeremy striking the floor with the long wooden axe
handle. Mike knew he could not test Jeremy’s patience any
longer.
He exited the office through the left door and heard Jeremy
yelling from behind, “Don’t let Freddy bite you on your way out!
Ha ha ha …”
Mike rushed his steps. He only had a few minutes before they
would become active. He knew reprogramming the
Animatronics could only be done while in dormant mode.
96

As he approached the Show Stage he saw the exit door. He
could leave the building and forget all about Jeremy and the
Animatronics. But really, he could not. He felt responsibility
towards Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, the Phone Guy, and even the
Animatronics. He could not leave this place in the hands of a
psycho. He was still the night guard and his shift was not over
yet.
Mike climbed onto the stage and got behind the motionless
Animatronics.
He opened a small, concealed compartment in the back of
Freddy Fazbear’s neck, which revealed a small numerical keypad
and a one-line screen. He entered the five digit combination code
he memorized from the manual. The screen then read “ENTER
AI LEVEL”.
The current Artificial Intelligence level was ten. He knew
entering the maximum number of twenty would make the
Animatronics smarter and more cunning, perhaps even capable
of keeping Jeremy in the office and stopping him from doing any
more harm. He was about to enter “20.”
Just then he was sure he could hear a faint voice coming from
Freddy’s mouth. It was not the usual metallic, robotic voice, but
rather a soft voice, a childish voice.
He leaned around to look at Freddy’s face. It was then that he
felt there was something more than just a robot controlled by a
central processor unit. He sensed there was something inside
97

Freddy that wanted to control the robot. Something or someone
with a mission.
He entered “0” and closed the control compartment. The new
settings would make the Animatronics less controlled by the
CPU. He took a gamble. He did not really know how it would
affect the robots or if they would be able to protect him against
Jeremy.
He applied the same settings to Chica and Bonnie, and moved
quickly to the Pirate Cove, where he programmed Foxy.
He left the Pirate Cove through the purple curtain and almost
bumped into Jeremy, who was holding his axe.
“I told you to go away!” Jeremy cried angrily, “What are you
doing with my Animatronics?”
“Uh, nothing man,” Mike said and backed away, “I was just
making sure they were OK before I left.”
“No! You did something. I saw you in the monitor,” Jeremy’s
eyes were red like they were on fire. He held the axe with both
hands and pushed Mike with the wooden handle.
Mike stumbled backwards and fell on his back.
Jeremy jumped on top of him and raised his axe high, like he
was about to bring down the axe with all his powers onto Mike’s
head.
Suddenly, Jeremy heard a whisper. It was a voice he heard
before. “Purple man! Purple Man!”
98

He looked up. He was surrounded by four Animatronics.
Freddy was standing in front of him, Chica on his left, Bonnie on
his right and Foxy behind him.
“You are a bad man, Purple Guy!” the voice came from all
around him and it sounded like a choir of children.
Jeremy panicked. He pushed his way between Freddy and
Bonnie and ran across the Dining Area. He stopped near the
stage and looked back.
The four Animatronics were chasing after him. Their jaws
were wide open.
Jeremy stood with the axe in both hands. He took a deep
breath and raised the axe above his head.
Freddy jumped on him with a loud screech. Jeremy swung his
axe and hit Freddy’s head. A crack opened in Freddy’s neck and
its head became loose and tilted to its right side. Some wires were
exposed through the crack and electricity sparks jumped out
from them.
Freddy continued to move towards Jeremy.
Jeremy raised the axe again and dealt a blow to Freddy’s face.
Freddy’s head dropped to the floor and the rest of its body
followed.
The other three Animatronics moved closer, surrounding
Jeremy. Jeremy swung the axe around himself and hit all three
robots in the chest. They backed away a little and then came
forward again.
99

Jeremy yelled and swung his axe in all directions frantically.
After a few seconds all four Animatronics were laying in pieces
on the floor.
Jeremy breathed heavily and looked at the pile of robot parts,
wires, and fabric on the floor. He started to laugh.
Mike stood about ten yards away and yelled at Jeremy, “What
have you done!?”
Suddenly Jeremy stopped laughing. Mike stared at the broken
robot parts and he could not believe what he saw. Four white,
semitransparent ghosts of children, three boys and a girl,
appeared to crawl out of the Animatronics’ parts and began to
float around Jeremy.
Jeremy screamed, dropped his axe on the floor, and bolted
towards the Backstage room. The ghosts followed him.
Jeremy entered the room and closed the door behind himself.
Suddenly two more ghosts appeared in the room.
A boy ghost rose from inside the peeled and faded Puppet box
that was resting in the back, and another girl ghost came out of
the old Golden Freddy robot that was laid in the corner.
The four ghosts from the Dining Area joined their friends as
they walked through the solid closed door.
Jeremy screamed in fear and looked around. He needed a
place to hide from the ghosts, somewhere he would feel safe. He
saw an old worn out Bonnie suit. He opened the suit and
squeezed inside.
100

He felt safer now. He hoped the ghosts would mistake him for
an Animatronic and leave him alone.
He looked through the Bonnie suit eye holes. The ghosts were
still in the room. The Puppet ghost floated closer to Jeremy and
looked him in the eyes. Jeremy remembered the ginger boy he
killed many years ago.
The ginger ghost smiled and said “Goodbye, purple man!”
The other ghosts flew around him and came closer and closer.
Jeremy felt suffocated. The Bonnie suit became very tight. He
felt metal springs and wires squeezing his body. His head felt like
it was inside a nut cracker. He tried to open the suit but he could
not.
The suit became tighter and tighter. He could not breathe.
The pain in his head became unbearable. He felt blood in his
eyes and he could not see anymore. Finally his skull cracked and
he fell face down on the floor.
Mike opened the door and saw a Bonnie suit laying on the
floor in a pool of blood.
Six ghosts circled the body and when Mike entered they
turned and looked at him.
Mike froze. He could not move.
The ghosts looked at each other and suddenly they all flew up
through the ceiling and disappeared.
CHAPTER 22
Fazbear’s Fright: The Horror
Attraction, 2015
D
an arrived at the office on time and knocked on the door.
“Come inside!” yelled a voice from the other side of the
door.
“Hello Sir,” Dan said, “I am here for the job interview. We
talked on the phone. I’m Dan.”
“Sure,” said the guy behind the desk, “sit down. My name is
Mr. Barrie, but you can call me Fred. I am the manager of
Fazbear Entertainment.”
Fred was wearing a neat suit and a golden watch. His middleaged,
grey hair was cut short and his face was tanned.
Dan sat down in front of Fred. His right knee was shaking
nervously. He did not like job interviews.
Fred leaned forward and looked into Dan’s eyes.
“What do you know about the job?” he asked.
“I-I-I know it’s a new amusement park attraction, and you are
looking for an actor or an attraction operator,” Dan said and
looked around. Posters of freaky animal puppets were hanging
on the walls and a giant bear head was resting on a trophy
pedestal.
103

“Do you remember Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, back in the
nineties?” Fred asked. He then stood up, walked around the desk,
and sat at the edge of it in front of Dan.
“Well, I was just a baby when the pizzeria was closed,” Dan
said, “but I remember some horror stories they used to tell us at
summer camp.”
“Yes,” Fred smiled, “they tell a lot of stories, but I think none
of them are as scary as the real story.”
“You see,” Fred continued, “this place is not just an
amusement park attraction. It is a horror attraction, and the
most scary one, because it is based on real mind-blowing events.”
Dan gulped and tried to steady his shaking right knee.
Fred looked at Dan’s shaking knee and continued.
“When we finish building the attraction, in about a week, it
will look exactly like one of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza restaurants.
As a worker in Fazbear’s Fright, you will play a character and act
as a security guard in the pizzeria during the attraction’s opening
hours, but in order for you to get into character, you will be
required to work as a real night guard during the first week,
between 12am to 6am. Are you up to it?”
Dan was silent. He thought about the job offer. He needed the
money, but there was something about this place that made him
uncomfortable.
As he was about to give his answer he heard a knock on the
door.
“Yes,” Fred said and the door opened.
A delivery man peeped inside.
“Sir?” said the delivery guy, “your special order is here. It’s in
the storage room.”
“Great!” Fred said in excitement and clapped his hands
together.
“Follow me boy,” Fred signaled Dan and walked quickly out of
the office. Dan stood up and followed him.
On their way to the storage room Fred did not stop talking.
“You see, most of the artifacts from the old restaurants,
especially the Animatronics, were destroyed. We had to build
everything from scratch and made it look like it was old and
retro. But after a long exploration we succeeded to salvage one
truly genuine artifact.”
They reached the storage room.
The storage room was quite dim, with only a small light bulb
lighting the room from the ceiling. In the middle of the room
stood a large wooden crate, about 7 feet tall.
Fred took a crowbar from the wall and started to pry open the
wooden crate.
“It is an authentic old version of the Bonnie Animatronic. We
call it Springtrap.”
The crate burst open and the door fell on the dusty floor.
Inside the crate Springtrap opened its eyes and smiled
sinisterly. Jeremy already got used to his new body, but he had
not seen any light for more than twenty years.
